Bar program is strong. The short rib pot pie was a straight up winner. Rich, comforting, and not trying to be anything other than good food done right. The bone marrow lost me. Cooked well, but buried under too many microgreens and then oddly topped with tortilla chip strips. No smokiness either. It felt more confused than cohesive. Where it really started to miss was the overall approach. A lot of "the chef intends this..." type explanations. It ends up feeling like the food insists upon itself instead of just letting you enjoy it. That's the bigger issue. This place exists in a space where I don't think most people want to meet it. Not casual enough to relax, not refined enough to justify the performance. Bottom line: good drinks, great pot pie, but the experience tries a little too hard.

Staffers have been fine, and remote ordering and self-pickup have also been fine. Once in a great while, we will pick up some plants from their garden department but they can't compete quality wise with a couple of local nurseries. The lady I spoke with on the telephone did everything she could not to have a technician come out to check on what was going on with the dishwasher. I contacted Home Depot and spoke with an associate at the Oakbrook Terrace location and they called and spoke with someone with Allstate Protection Plan and made an appointment for a technician to come out June 02, 2026 between 1pm and 3pm. No one showed up or called. I will ask Home Depot to refund my money I paid for the protection plan because it is simply not worth the purchase if a consumer cannot get a technician to come out a look at the appliance.

They have a pretty impressive selection of soil, soil amendments, and fertilizers amongst garden decor and other sundries. If you're here for the first time as I was, it was honestly a little difficult to find the right entrance to get to the garden center/ outdoor entrance. When I had the items I needed, the outdoor registers were all closed at the time, so I had to wind my way back into the store. Not a huge deal, but just a head's up. They had some mini potted herb gardens for sale when I went, but all of the plants looked a little wilted or had seen better days. I can't speak too much on the other areas because I didn't need anything from hardware or cleaning supplies to name a few. However, I do know that they use a ton of mail-in rebates if that's of interest. Check-out was a little confusing: I remember that I had to maneuver a little differently with my cart since their process was different from most other stores. Not terribly difficult and the cashier was friendly about it. There was just no clear way to know how to navigate the register for the first time until you chat with the check-out clerk. Parking is generous but a little busy in an expansive private lot.

The ordering process was outdated (print invoice bring to cashier transact), but I moved forward anyway. The issue: the order showed as delivered in two separate delivery updates, but I only received 1 of 2 fixtures. I checked with neighbors and waited through the end of the day in case the notification was premature--nothing. When I tried to resolve it, I was bounced around repeatedly: Clybourn told me I had to contact the Morton Grove store since that's where I purchased. Morton Grove told me they "couldn't handle it at the store level" and offered to email customer support for me. Customer support then told me the opposite--that they forwarded it back to the store and the store would contact me. I spoke with multiple managers. One told me there was "nothing they can do" because it showed delivered, despite no proof and one item missing. Another said they'd look into it, didn't follow through, and I had to keep calling back for updates. I later learned a third-party delivery partner (Spee-Dee) was involved and that I apparently paid extra for this, but it was never clearly communicated. As of 02/16/2026, I still have no resolution, no proof of delivery (photo/GPS/scan details), and no replacement/refund. This fixture was expensive and part of my new home renovation, and I've now wasted hours trying to get basic follow-up. If you order anything that needs to be shipped/delivered from this location, document everything and be prepared to advocate for yourself. Or better yet just shop at Home Depot.

Then he walked off and helped someone else and left me hanging. After 20 min of futility, I walked out of the store as I googled where else near me I can get the brand I need. As I waited, a woman who couldn't get help the previous Friday was back to try again. Probably shouldn't be this hard. The manager Bill came over and in front of three young cashiers that he was training said, "what are you trying to do, empty out someone's garage." Without the cashier having even finished scanning the items to see if they could be returned he had made his decision/judgement. I find his comment disinhibited, judgemental, and quite unprofessional. In a day where people can more easily shop from amazon or home depot down the street; the ones that continue to come to your store out of loyalty you lose with nasty managers such as Bill.

Because I was dumb I had to have locks rekeyed, and while it took quite some time, it was done accurately which for locks is the most important. They have always had multiple checkers available and I've almost never seen a line even on weekends! Kudos!
