I was able to get most of what I needed for my project. The staff are helpful, I needed help in a specific aisle and I didn't need to wait long for a staff member to come help me. If I am in need of a quick, inexpensive tool, I will drop Into Harbor Freight. They offer a nice selection of tools that are actually manufactured for them, and imported by HFT. The quality? That's questionable (to say the least). As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. The service here is always good, and they have the 20% off coupon that only seems to work the following week after you made a purchase (which I do find strange). Our house was affected by the Eaton fire complete total loss. We went 2 days after the fire to try to get a replacement hand truck, Jack and jack stands. when we got to harbor freight, The manager said very rudely, No item, no replacement even though we have an account with harbor freight and we have the warranty on all those items. We contacted headquarters where they gave us a printout of every item that we have purchased from harbor freight showing the purchase date, the amount and the warranty. this took a few weeks, when we went back a different manager said yes, We can replace the items Just come back on Monday and we can replace the items and you'll just have to purchase a new warranty. We went back on Monday to "purchase" these items and the same manager said no item, no replacement and we decide to call headquarters while in the store and headquarters even told the person that we don't have the item because it burned in a fire and it was completely destroyed and army corps of engineers cleared our lot already. But why would you want burn debris? The manager who kept saying no item no replacement was very rude and very unwilling to work with us. So we kept calling headquarters to see if we can get the situation solved. And yes we had warranty on the items. Finally, headquarters called and said if we decide that we want the items, not every item that we purchased just the six items that we wanted that one time we'd have to repurchase all the items or bring in the item to exchange it. read more

Last week Customer Service Failure, This past week on I purchased the 10FT X 17FT PORTABLE GARAGE, SKU 62860 from the DUARTE Harbor Freight since the Pasadena store which is closer to me was out. When I called Duarte to confirm they had the item I was informed the box was damaged but everything was in good order. Upon opening the box I discovered the INSTRUCTIONS and the TARPS / Covers were all missing. The item had previously been purchased, parts taken, then repackaged, sealed and returned to the store and Harbor Frieght did not confirm all items were returned in the box. When I tried to return the item to the Pasadena store on 02/04/23 in the morning, 8:50am, MANNY the Manager said he could NOT accept the item back at his store. I had to return it to the store from where it was purchased. He did give me the discounts I received at the time of sale, but was adamant I could not return the item that was missing parts to his store. When I got to the DUARTE store, I spoke with the Store manager and she stated that Manny was incorrect. I called Manny and addressed this issue while I had the Duarte manager on speaker phone with him, so she could state her understanding and he could try to explain his position. He stated that it was not a policy but it was up to the "discretion" of the manager whether an item bought at another store was accepted for return. I asked questions like, "Would you and the Pasadena store get "dinged" for asking the damaged/missing parts item back?" He said he would not get "dinged" for the return. Then I asked "what would have happened if you had taken the initiative to help me and accept the package back for credit. That is when he stated his true reason. Manny stated it was his discretion to accept and if he had, he would not have received credit for the sale. ...... So, Manny you used your position as Manager to decline my return, chosing your store's sales and your DRIVE to show 1 more sale OVER providing Quality CUSTOMER SERVICE. Total and Complete Customer Service FAILURE. And this is HARBOR Freight!? Supposedly takes back tools anytime, especially if one is lacking parts and purchased within 24 hours. The Manager at Duarte clarified that Harbor Freight does not have a policy like this as Manny tried to state. She said she woudl have taken it back, no problem because it is customer service. Manny gets an F if customer service. I may give him some grace because he appeared to be very young, Mid 20s if that. But I hope he learns from this, read this review and doesn't try to "re-justify" his position as he was attempting to do over the phone. As a business owner, this is the last type of interaction that I would want from one of my employees with any customer. I will shop Harbor Freight.....but I'll do my best to patronize other stores. We've been going to this store for quite awhile now. Unfortunately, today would be the last time because of what this certain person did. One cashier was working and there was a long line. Stephanie opened up one register and called out the person next in line. I followed that person since the person in front of me was carrying a lot of items and probably didn't want to walk to another register. When I was waiting behind the guy, Stephanie asked if I needed help and I said no, I'm waiting in line. She said there's only one line so I had to go back to the original line. When I was there waiting, there were about 3 people on Stephanie's lane waiting but she never told them what she told me, that there was only one line. She also started ringing up the next person. I went up to her and asked her why she's ringing up those customers but made me go back to the "only" line. She just said, "I apologize but they were starting to make a line". Okaaay?!!! Well, that was really bad customer service. I end up just leaving the store since I was very upset. Oh, when I was on my way out, she shouted, "Have a great day ". They honor the coupons we had (but always check exclusions based on brand names, etc.) The kids love this place, but it's dangerous because they have real hatchets and axes on low shelves. 2.5 stars. My advice for all shoppers here is to KEEP YOUR RECEIPT. Harbor Freight is the fast-fashion version of tools. You will get 1-2 uses before something so cheaply made inevitably breaks. Steer clear of garden stuff, drills, drill bits and you should mostly find what you are looking for. Service has been OK for me, but don't expect to find anything in stock that's published on their mailers. Also, look for scuffs on their products bc you might just be purchasing a returned tool too. This place is usually okay for affordable tools, but stay away from this location. I went to get an engine hoist, found the boxes in the back, and went to the counter to get assistance. As soon as the associate Jazell realized they were heavier items that she was too lazy to help me with, she immediately got an attitude and spent 15 minutes trying to gaslight me into thinking they didn't have them in stock. I said I could point out in the back exactly where the boxes were and she said "well even if you could, we don't have them"??? When I finally pointed her to where the boxes were, she continued changing her story saying "well it's supposed to be 3 boxes" (the boxes said 1 of 2 and 2 of 2 on them), and finally just said "well they aren't matching boxes" (both boxes had the exact same SKU number on them, and were even color coded). At that point it was clear she would tell me any lie possible to get out of helping me, so I gave up. Long story short, I went to another Harbor Freight and they gladly sold me the exact same 2 boxes that she claimed weren't the right ones. One of the most absurd and frustrating retail experiences I've ever had. read more

If your hubby is in a bad mood say to him, "Hey honey! Do you want to go to Harbor Freight Tools and see if there is anything you need for the garage?" I guarantee you will have a great remainder of the day. * It has an effect on the serotonin levels of the male brain which I can equate to going shopping for shoes at Nordstrom. * The Pasadena location is close to all sorts of restaurants and shopping so I call that a Win/Win. Here are some tips: * Don't forget your coupons. I don't like forgetting my coupons to Macy's and this is similar. * You can get coupons on their website by giving your e-mail. * You can get coupons from Car and Driver Magazine. * You can get coupons in the mail. * Bring your reading glasses to read the fine print because you can't use your coupon on: Compressors, generators, tool storage or carts, welders, floor jacks and a few other items. * Breathe out of your mouth and not your nose when you are in this store. The fumes from the rubber is enough to make me sick. * Watch where you park your car. There was a guy yesterday that was too lazy to return his cart to the proper area. He left it by a curb and it almost rolled into the side of my car. Thankfully, I yelled while I was sitting in the car and I got the guy's attention and he had time to catch it before it hit my car. Fact is, the following is an incomplete list of my interests that have been supported, supplemented, or satisfied by a purchase made at Harbor Freight: - auto repair - trailer maintenance - camping - fishing and lure craft - home maintenance - gardening and yard care - hiking - kayaking - model aircraft - welding - bicycle repair & maintenance - painting and art projects - electronics, CB radio antenna tuning - teaching, classroom applications ... The list could probably go on; interestingly, this is probably as much a dissertation on my adult ADHD as it is an illustration of the variety of items found at this store. Moreover, if you have children who like to "borrow" your tools to play with them, only to leave them out on the lawn to be thoroughly watered by the lawn sprinklers overnight, the good news is that most items here are priced at a level somewhere close to "disposable." A screwdriver set or 54 piece ratchet and socket set for $10-15 won't break the bank, and while my kid might have used my Phillips head screwdriver to dig a hole in the middle of the St. Augustine before throwing it into the neighbor's yard, at least it wasn't a Channel Lock or something expensive. Most folks enter the store, then grab an advertisement from the front end to see what's on sale. They always seems to have many items marked down, and there are some good deals to be had here. My most recent purchase was four 3 ton jack stands for about $7 each, along with a 2000/4000 power inverter for our tent trailer. A solar trickle charger for the deep cycle batteries completed the trip, and will keep the lights on at those California campsites that notoriously don't have hook-ups. Pro tip: sign up with your email and phone number for all sorts of useful coupons. There are several freebies offered like a big pack of AAA batteries or LED flashlights with any purchase. Returns are generally accepted with a receipt, but only for three months at most locations. This is a great place to get items at a reasonable price. They have all sorts of tools here and other safety items and hardware type of items. One time I went and bought a pipe wrench here, it was only $12.95, compare to $98.95 somewhere else. Most items here are good for the home owner and some are good for the professional as well. Enter Harbor Freight. They sell discount, no-brand tools at dirt cheap prices. After we discovered this place, we come here first for things like shovels, rakes, rubber mallets, shop rags, drop cloths, and tarps. The list is really endless. It's not really like a Home Depot though. Don't expect to find replacement parts. It's really a place for tools and not mechanical things were quality might count. Harbor Freight is also really addicting. The prices are so good that you buy things you probably don't really need. To offset that, they are effusive with their coupons so you can pretty much get an automatic 20% off any item. They also give away free stuff with coupons too. Harbor Freight is a good place to go for low priced tools. I've been coming to this location for years and haven't had any problems. The lines can get really long on the weekends, so I avoid them by going when its not so busy, otherwise expect a long wait to checkout. Stock is generally good and I usually find what I need without having to ask for help. Returns have been pretty easy too. One important thing to know is you can only get into the parking lot from 2 directions. Traveling South on Rosemead Blvd or East on Foothill Blvd where you can enter from the adjacent gas station lot. If you're traveling in any other direction, you can't simply make a left turn or U-turn because of concrete divider, no U-turn sign, or double yellow lines. read more

What really turned me off though was when I went to pay for my stuff, one guy is on the phone handling customer service (I assume) and the other girl (Jazzell) is just texting on her phone, completely oblivious. So I go up to her register per the other employee, and Im literally standing there for a couple minutes while shes texting. Ive worked in the service industry almost my entire life, and this had to be some of the worst customer service. Blantantely ignoring a customer right in front of her. She didnt even make an effort to apologize or explainwhy she decided it was more important to be texting on company time and not helping customers right away. This store is very clean and organized. I came in on a holiday and they must've been having a big sale because it was really busy. I had to return something and there was a long line but the registers were fully staffed, which made the wait very short. The cashiers were nice and knowledgeable. I also had to get another item for the hubby and was dreading standing in line again because it was a heavy box but once again, the line moved so quickly. A friend told me about this place the other week, so I just wanted to check it out and see what kind of store it was and what kind of tools they carry. This place was busy and it seems like they cater to people who need tools, but would like them of a lesser quality and lesser price. They were having a sale when I was there and I saw a 13-piece ball end metric hex key (allen wrench) set $5.99 (It is normally $7.99). That's definitely a lot lower than you would find at Sears. I suppose the lower price might mean lower quality, but for many items, it doesn't matter. I didn't buy anything at Harbor Freight, but I might in the future. They have a lot of items at very good prices. I also saw blue tarps at very good prices. Xie Xie! read more

Their online website customer service sucks. I ordered online, I got a message saying "Unable to Fulfill" So I tried to cancel the order but couldn't do it. I called customer service and was put on hold for almost an hour. I got a message stating there was 75 people ahead of me. I decided to call back later that day. I got the same message but instead of 75 it was 100. I decided to order the equipment elsewhere. I checked my bank account and there was a charge that was pending which was the same amount for the item from Harbor Freight's website. Eventually that posting in my bank disappeared and I assume the order was truly not fulfill. But several days later, I got a message stating the item was being shipped. I check the online order again and it still stated "unable to fulfill" but the item was shipped. Finding the number for customer support was not easy, but I found it and called, I told them I wanted to cancel my order, they told me it was to late and I needed to call the shipping company they use which is Road Runner Freight. They put the responsible on me to stop the shipping. I called up the shipping company. They told me they had to get a written request from Harbor Freight to cancel the shipping process. I told them I spoke to Harbor Freight they are the one that gave me the number to call and they even gave me the PRO number for the shipping. The guy punch it into his computer and said my name. I answered "Yes that's me." He still insisted on having Harbor Freight to give them a written request. I called the Harbor Freight and the person I spoke with was rude, she told me I misunderstood what "Unable to Fulfull" meant and said it was not canceled. I told her I wanted it canceled. She told me to stop raising my voice and hung up. I wanted to delete my account from their website but that option is not available and the order is still on my profile. These equipment is simply NOT professional. My stupid uncle started with the cheapest stuff, then he said he "upgraded" to the more expensive nail gun and air compressor but the stuff behaves the same. The air compressor always stops working and it is such a bloody waste of time. My uncle is so stupid for continuing buying stuff here. Just buy one a darn name brand and get it over with and it will work every time. I LOVE Harbor Freight because of the coupons! They frequently have 20% off coupons for one item that I usually use whenever I go here. There are also free item coupons with purchase such as a flashlight, batteries, tarp, screwdriver set, a metal magnetic bowl, and tape measure. My boyfriend says some of the tools here are good quality but some are pretty cheap quality too. We've purchased expensive items here (not really sure what they're called because I'm a girl and I could care less) and then I've purchased solar lights in which the batteries had died out pretty quickly but the solar lights look really cute (this must be the cheap quality stuff). Oh well, I would have still purchased them anyway. In summary, I'm a loyal customer. Harbor freight is great convenient store where you can find inexpensive items that you might want to only use once or twice so I spend hundreds of dollars when you can buy it for one third of the price. It's not fancy new item that you buy at Home Depot or Lowe's but it'll do the job and for one third of the price. Some items fall apart after three uses but you've gotten the job done and not spendt hundreds of dollars also keep in mind majority of items are made in China. read more
