This place really is not that big but they never cease to amaze me. Every time I come here, I find exactly what I need - even odd sized and random parts and pieces always seem to be in stock. It's really nice not to have to go to a huge home improvement store to get what I need. I can come to Harbor Freight, run in, run out and get all of my home improvement projects done! Honey-do list. DONE! .... For now....

Inside, looking at hammers :)

The product value is insanely high! Why pay so much for a tool truck? Warranty is perfect at HFT!

Earlier this week, I stopped by the UPS next door and came inside to take a look at the Ooni pizza ovens I'd been eyeing. They didn't have the model I wanted, so I got some household needs and chatted with the employee at the register when she mentioned the calendar coupons work for in store purchases of items available online. This was super helpful! I went ahead and ordered the exact model of the Ooni I wanted and used my coupon on it. Got ship-to-store (free for almost every retailer) and easily picked up my pizza oven. A criticism I do have is that the Ace Hardware online nor in-store computer search isn't super robust, and I had to come back the next day to order another piece of equipment for the pizza oven, and because the description on the website is so poor, I had to check the manufacturer part number to see if it worked with my oven. It should now that I have the package in my hands, but I was nervous for the lack of description. Another issue I also ran into was that I had two keys manually copied at this store (their auto key machine is down) and one of the keys turned out bent the first time. I got them to redo the key and then didn't check it again after trusting it was fine. I got home and... the re-key is also bent. This is pretty frustrating since I have to go back and get it replaced, or get a refund. So for keys, I don't recommend. But most other things, they're very convenient and have friendly and helpful staff.

Before massive orange or blue hardware stores. It seems like ACE was the original friendly neighborhood hardware store. But no, this is actually a new-ish location (2017, maybe?) and I haven't really internalized its presence. But I should. You should too. In the age of the aforementioned hardware behemoths, it's actually pretty darn rad that this spot is here. It's the same owners as "The Store" which is a specialty grocer that has a very fond spot in my heart, as it was grandma's grocer of choice. It's really an eclectic spot which reminds me of those old time hardware stores that do sell hardware, but also party supplies and decor and all kinds of things that don't fit into the category of "groceries." I'm a fan. But those big stores got popular for a reason, so if you are hardcore set on just hardware and lots of varieties of it everywhere, this smaller ACE will not have the same selection. But there's something charming about not having a billion choices, and about finding what you need, directed by a friendly person who will help you find it.

In a former life I visited here frequently for some of the odds and ends a fella might need as he's remodeling a house or building a deck. As a hardware store, there's muuuuch to be desired. I don't think I'd come here to shop around for anything. The few shelves of tools, hardware, and other fit-in-your-cart supplies they have on hand are more for convenience when you're there picking up or ordering more hefty stuff. So, it's nice that they carry a small selection of bolts and screws and tape measures and shelf brackets (and so on), but don't plan on this as a swing by and browse kind of adventure. The real bread and butter here is obviously the building supplies. And you should probably have a little swagger in your step when you come through the door and know what you're after. The guys here have always been nice enough to help me stumble through what I was after as I employed my best construction laborer vocabulary, but I can bet it would get tired if I was constantly describing what kind of 2 x 12 I needed by the smell of the wood. "You know, kind of like Christmas trees but less sappy smelling." Kudos to them and their patience. Stock was a serous victim of the housing crunch. This place used to be bumpin' but it's a ghost town nowadays. Their staff was cut down by at least half (I want to say closer to 75% or more) so be patient as they try to get a guy out to the yard to find your stack of 12-footers. The public is always welcome here. They do have "showroom" of some of their door products, casing and trim, and other things they can walk you through, but it's really an insider's world there. Prices can vary wildly. Sometimes the big box stores have better 2x4 prices, but sometimes Stock could crush their prices on more uncommon cuts and materials. It's always worth a phone call, especially if you're buying materials in any kind of bulk. When used right, this can be a great place for good deals, and the salesman will bust their butts to track down what you need and make it convenient for you to pick it up or have it delivered to your jobsite. Never hurts to call them for a quote or to stop by, but just don't expect an orange-aproned experience.

I used to work with them and I know first hand it's overpriced materials and there is no guarantee…read morewhen it breaks from being cheap: the wood is usually warped when sold and the management doesn't care.
