Nice campground, however, the owners are totally ridiculous. They have no idea how to keep track of the finanances, they are constantly making mistakes, from overcharging campers, mixing up the payments, sending bills to the wrong addresses and even not documenting payments The lady in charge of the camp store is very disagreeable, she is imediately ready to attack and is very confrontational, completely unreasonable. The guy that goes around all day seems nice enough, however, he is constantly working against you. He quotes a price for something and then charges you more than he said. Nice campground if the owners were nicer and better organized. Financial Disorganization: The owners' inability to manage finances accurately, leading to overcharging and payment mix-ups for seasonal campers, is a serious concern. This lack of organization can create significant stress and financial burdens for campers. Unpleasant Camp Store Staff: The "disagreeable" and "unreasonable" behavior of the lady in the camp store creates a negative experience and can deter campers from utilizing this amenity. Dishonest Pricing: The inconsistency in pricing from the staff member who "goes around all day" (quoting one price and charging another) is unethical and erodes trust. If I could give a zero star review for this campground, I would. I've been camping my whole life around the New England Area (NH, ME, VT, NY, MA) as well as other parts of the United States (AZ, NV, CA) and this might be the worst campground I've ever been to (can't say I've stayed here because thankfully we were kicked out). While deciding to pick a campground, I saw this place had decent reviews and decided this is where my party of 4 (with two tents) would stay. However, it was my mistake to not pay attention to the change management issues this campground has had since the new owners took over, and my party experienced similar stories to the reviews left about these new owners. Long story short, I had someone in my party (who was on the reservation) go to the campground to check-in and set-up our site (around 3:30-4pm), the desk attendees (woman owner and son of woman owner) gave the person in my party the keys to the gate to get in, the campground map, and the parking pass for our vehicle (you'd think everything was all set right?). The man in my party then went to set-up the site with no issues. Later, around 5:30PM, I called the front desk to let them know that I was going to be adding 2 additional people to my reservation, and gave their names. The owners immature son took my call and proceeded to tell me I deceived them (because a person in my party checked-in and not me - hotels, other campgrounds, do this and is 100% allowed/a common process - i.e. wife makes and pays for hotel reservation, and husband on the reservation checks-in), and was very rude and unprofessional over the phone. This led me to head to the campground so I could sign paperwork with my name instead. When we got the campground, the rude front desk attendees (women owner and owners immature son) told me that security was coming to talk to me about the campground rules. This led the poor women owners husband (seemed like a nice guy) to deal with the situation. The woman owner's son, who I talked to over the phone was to immature and incompetent to come speak with us about the unprofessionalism he spoke with over the phone (unfortunate that he feels he can speak rudely over the phone but will not say a peep in person). The woman owner lost it (not surprising), and we were told we couldn't stay there and we ultimately picked up our site and left. No refund or nothing (hopefully they can take our money and hire competent professionals that know how to deal with customers). Overall, the campground looked nice - but good luck getting to it (you have to make it past momma bear and her grouchy cub)! I would save your time, energy, and money, and just book a site at one of the several other campgrounds near by. Until they get rid of this crazy family who owns it, it's worth looking elsewhere.. also, a great example of what I'm talking about is look at the 1 star reviews and look at how the woman owner fights these customers.. read more

Surprised by the other reviews, clean, decent facility and plenty of extras for kids and families. Nice shaded sites (decent sized) which helped keep cool. Friendly staff and good wifi. Only suggestion charge an extra $1 and loose the quarter machine for showers (kind of goofy and makes a real nice campground look cheap). Overall 4 stars and we will be back. read more

8/4/2020 The two of us and our 5 year old girl had INITIALLY made reservations at a local campsite named Adventure Bound (NOT Harbor Hill), as it seemed family friendly online. Boy, were we wrong - we pulled in and there were dozens of kids on bikes weaving all around the roads and sites, 5 cars per site, sites RIGHT on top of each other, loud music at each one, hundreds and I mean hundreds of people just walking around. It was nuts. We looked at each other and said NOPE. Didn't even get out of the truck. We complained about the noise and were offered another site at the edge of the campground against the main road. While cars drove by us all night inside the campground, and tractor trailers 20 feet from our heads on the main road, we desperately looked for another camp for our second and final night. They were all sold out - but we spoke to a really friendly gentleman at Harbor Hill who told us to "come on down!" He was very accommodating and friendly. What a great place!!! I am shocked by the negative reviews here. The bathrooms (as stated by the owners) were impeccably clean. Really, impressive. The site itself was reasonable size, but had nice natural borders with other sites. The firepit could have been a little more multidirectional, but it was great. The pool was clean and not packed...they have several playgrounds with all kinds of cool activities for kids, and the general environment was of quiet respect and family time! I DEFINITELY would go here again...my girlfriend likes to "try new places," but I would prefer to stay with the known. The front gate requires a key card, so there are not people driving in and out all night. When it's closed, it's quiet. Perfect for kids. I made this post because of all the other negative reviews. I think there is new ownership because they are all OFF THE MARK folks, trust me. There was no smell, no rude staff, in fact it was quite the opposite. If you are looking for great prices, friendly staff, and a solid environment for small children, ignore the negative reviews on this and call Harbor Hill. This place literally made us SICK! We stayed there about three weeks ago and the sewer smell was so bad that it actually set off the CO2 detector in our camper and made us physically ill (including our small dog). We reported the problem to the office, they sent someone up who said it was a "loose connection" a few sites up from us and he "stuffed a rag" in it to fix the problem. After a few more hours, we were still feeling sick and the smell was still heavy. The methane was so bad, it permeated all of our clothes as well. A couple that was across from us told us they had been there all summer and this was the third or fourth time the smell has been so bad and it's usually after a pretty good rainfall, which we had the night before. Went back to the office, the woman I dealt with was extremely rude and dismissive and kept telling me it was probably "just a loose connection" and someone would be up to fix it. Guy shows up with a roll of duct tape at neighbor's camper and wraps the sewer line saying that will take care of the problem. And it may have very well taken care of it, but it was too late. We had no interest in sitting outside, cooking or eating, and had no clean clothes or towels. We ended up leaving a night early and when I emailed and snail mailed a letter to the campground saying what happened and asked for a refund, we got ZERO RESPONSE! VERY CONCERNING how casually these "loose connections" are treated! Would NOT recommend this place to anyone! Owner's final response to us was he thinks we are "scamming" them saying we were sick....just looking for my $44 bucks back, that's it. read more

This was our first time staying at Harbor Hill. We had reserved our site well in advance, and I'm happy that we did. The campground was booked for the 4th of July holiday weekend. I found myself on Yelp and becoming apprehensive about our stay after reading some of the reviews. That apprehension was for naught!! We had a blast Everyone that we had contact with was phenomenal!! I can't thank the staff and owners enough. The park was clean and staff very pleasant to deal with, even on a packed holiday weekend. I look forward to another stay!! read more

I don't know why on earth they have negative reviews. We stayed here the first week in August the staff was very friendly. The restrooms/showers where very clean. Quiet hours start at 10pm which is ok because after a long day of activities you can get pretty tired. They have nice in ground pool. And a basketball court as well. They even have a real nice grass area to play kickball, badminton and wiffleball ladders, and cornhole. We had an epic game of wiffleball. If you didn't bring any equipment not to worry you can sign out any equipment you need. Maybe the others are into drinking heavily and partying. But that's not our style. Don't get me wrong I like having a few drinks and having fun. But not having out of control party's. I wouldn't think twice about not staying here if you are in the area. I would give this place more stars if I could. read more

I agree with the other reviewer on the 0 stars. The owners came around and informed me that they "run a tight ship" and then counted to three before they would call the cops on us if we didn't leave. Seriously, counted to three... We had an extra person on site (so our bad). I offered to pay the extra $10 and we were told there wasn't an option. The guy is actually pretty pleasant by himself, but don't get on the ladies bad side or look out... Don't say I didn't warn you. I've never had a worse experience. read more

We've been camping at Harbor Hill for a dozen years and keep going back. It is beautiful, quiet and convenient to what the area has to offer. When we first camped in Meredith, we found a campground we were very uncomfortable in so we drove to others in the area and Harbor Hill is one of the best. If I could select 0 star, I would. I guess the 1 star can be for the restrooms... they are clean but you do have to pay for the showers. Other than that, I would not recommend this camp to anyone. The lady who runs the place (Mellisa) represents the worst customer service and rudeness. It seemed they have nothing better to do but do their rounds every hour, watching every steps you make. There are ways to let people know the rules and sometimes a kind reminder does best. This lady has absolutely "zero" people's skill and just plain rude and mean. I have been camping here for years and until this year would have given 5 stars, but the new owners, especially Melissa, have a lot to learn about hosting. This is the first time they've ever done anything like this and are struggling to learn the ropes as the previous owner who was going to help them has passed. Melissa was a school teacher and needs to switch to working with adults as a host. That said, this is a beautiful campground with good facilities and great maintenance. I plan to continue camping here and hope to see the new owners grow into their role as hosts. This is still one of the best campgrounds in the Lake Region. read more

Great campsite for family with kids and retirees with time on their hands. The pool and recreational room, basketball court and trail all offers more than the usual for those with bored kids. Clean and somewhat newer bathrooms and showers make you want to linger in the hot showers. Bring quarters as it's 25 cents every 5 minutes I think. Clean dishwashing station with good lighting at night too. The tent they provide is great in size only. 10'x 12' but visible mold spots all over the tent. Top roof of the tent especially. A very ugly sight to see. The concern was raised to the front desk and she reassured us the canvas is scrubbed regularly but it certainly robbed us of our peace of mind. Also chickmunks and other critters can come inside as the canvas is not totally secured to the platform. My suggestion is bring your own tent or rent a cabin. There is power and water spikets throughout. read more

This place worked out good for a last minute reservation change. I have never been here prior and booked our sites unseen without reading reviews. Bathrooms and showers are nice and clean and very well lit. Seems pretty quiet and didnt have noise issues after quiet hours. We tent camped among the RV's so I think that helped with the quiet noise level. They are dog friendly and there wasn't an issue of excessive barking from any dogs here. Grounds are nice and well kept. Didn't interact much with staff but when i did they were friendly enough for the minimal non-complicated transactions. I don't know what the situation was with other reviewers of this campground. I was not there for whatever caused their negative review. I arrived at this campground for bike week 2015., with no family. Staff could not have been more professional and friendly, this is a family run operation and is well run. The area is kept spotless. I did not use any of the facilities except the laundry area which was also spotless. The owners son assisted me with an issue I had with my trailer and was a fine polite young man. We had stayed at Harbor Hill about three years ago under the old owners. We were unaware of the change in management before we arrived. Harbor Hill is nicely situated and affordable. There is a pool and lots of shade on the sites. The managers were friendly and accommodating to our late arrival. Campsites are pleasant and clean as were the restrooms and laundry room. We noticed a few small problems such as a missing hook in one of the shower stalls. The biggest change we noticed is an apparent uptick in the number of seasonal sites. We stayed midweek so the campground was quiet. I understand the appeal of seasonal campers for campground mgmt, but if I owned a campground I'd make it a rule that seasonal renters have to use their site at least 3 weekends out of 4. Otherwise, the place takes on the air of a deserted trailer park. But this is just my opinion. Overall, a good destination for visiting the Lakes area. read more

You can usually tell how your experience is going to go by how you are treated when you make the reservation. I inquired as to whether there was availability on August 3rd. I received an email from Angela on Aug. 4th indicating they had one site available and let them know if I wanted to book it. I emailed back, immediately saying yes I wanted the site. No response. I called and got no answer. I shrugged and said, "well, they have had some negative responses as of late, but they still have a 4.7 rating. They must have their stuff together, so I'll just wait for a response and consider us booked." So, I called back today, because I had a sneaking suspicion and..., sure enough, they never booked me and now they are completely full. I guess the people who complained recently are correct in their assessment. The new owners don't know what they're doing and are not very welcoming. My dad and I have been visiting this place for 20 years. Very family-friendly. The tent sites are at the top of the hill and even though it's not that far from the road, it's easy to feel like you're miles from civilization. It's not in a crowded area but still a short drive to plenty of activities as well as Lake Winnipesaukee. The owners are very friendly and helpful. read more

We've been to many campgrounds over the years and have seen some really bad and indifferent owners, but not here!! We had a great weekend at Harbor Hills. The new owners couldn't have been nicer or more friendly! I take my kids camping every year while my husband goes canoeing with his friends and needed to borrow a hammer for the stakes of the tent. Melissa came by and told my kids that if they helped mommy, they could stop by the store for a special treat. She also offered to help put the tent up - this was on a 100 degree day!. The bathrooms were always clean, the site was immaculate, the store well stocked, and the pool refreshingly cool. Yes they do charge a $10 gate fee but you get that back at checkout. They have a few play areas with swings and play structures along with a basketball hoop. We are looking forward to our next stay! read more

We picked this campground because we wanted to be able to enjoy everything the Lakes Region had to offer. We were very please with our stay. The entire campground is extremely clean and well kept. The bathrooms are thoroughly cleaned every day. Quiet at night, which seems to be rare to find nowadays. This is not a party campground - it is a perfect family campground. Very rude, and I actually know the wife and kids. My daughter wanted to stay there even though we live in the same town. It was supposed to be a little "staycation". Rude to me as soon as we got there and when I asked if the daughter was around to play. Then when my husband got stuck out of town and couldn't make it back to stay with us I asked a girlfriend to help me break down some things and sit by the fire with me... RJ came rushing over, made a scene and kicked her out. I paid for two adults and two children. Not at this campground....Then he had the balls to come to my site and kick me and my two young kids out at 5:30 at night! Told the kids he was calling the police if we were not out in one hour. Not even bright enought to notice we were already half way packed up as I wouldn't stay another night at that campground if it were the last one. Kids were nervous looking for the police (which I should have called for harassment) and now it's pouring.... Have nothing nice to say about the place or the owners... Beware. The other reviewers were strangers to them and they treated them no better. Go somewhere that welcomes you instead. read more
