    Cuban sandwich and onion rings
    Nick K.

Location, location, location! Located near a hot fishing spot, you'd expect a sea fare and that's what Harbor Hook has. Not only Great Lakes fish but also ocean poke and calamari. This is not the type of restaurant that you'd expect in a coastal fishing village. My four star rating is based on the above and value. As pictured, the cuban sandwich and onion rings. I prefer battered rings, but these were breaded and seasoned. They were the best breaded rings i've ever had. The cuban sandwich was traditional with ham, pulled pork, cheese and pickles. It wasn't pressed, but that didn't affect the taste, just the appearance. The servers were very attentive and refilled my iced tea three times. Very clean eating area and restroom.

On our way home from a run to the airport, we were both famished, so we turned to our trusty resource - Yelp! We were approaching the Monroe area, and did not want any fast food. We chose Habor Hook & Grille. This restaurant sits right across the street from the harbor, hence part of the name, and the food pics looked appealing. It was almost 9pm on a Tuesday night, so there weren't many people. It was rather dark when we entered, so I inquired if it was too late to get dinner and we were told the restaurant was serving until 10pm. The restaurant and bar area was a large open area with very high ceilings. There is an outdoor area for seating and what looked like a bar area as well. I asked about daily specials and our server told us there weren't any due to the Harbor Hook & Grille just implemented a new menu with several new offerings. Our server was very friendly and attentive. We ordered the Calamari appetizer (served with a thicker marinara sauce), the Harbor Cubano sandwich with fries, and the Tuna Poke Bowl. Tha Calamari was good, but could've used some additional seasoning as it was somewhat bland. The Harbor Cubano sandwich was also good - roasted pork, sliced ham, Swiss cheese, dill pickles, and mustard. There wasn't much mustard if any, so our server offered any of their sauces - a garlic aioli was selected. This sandwich was served with fries. I am not sure if it was because we arrived so late or what may have happened, but these fries were somewhat mushy and limp. They may have been sitting for a while or undercooked. The Tuna Poke Bowl, in my opinion, was the highlight of our food selections. The flavor of the tuna, cucumber, carrots, radishes, and pickled onions were topped with a spicy sauce that paired very well with this dish. All-in-all a decent dining experience. I would've gone with 3.5 stars if available in Yelp! scoring.

Husband and I love big bands, and there was one at this restaurant a few days ago. So we went for dinner. Despite the previous reviews and the large (happy) crowd that night, we were seated immediately, brought water and ordered drinks immediately, and then very shortly ordered and promptly brought our dinners. We were very impressed with the friendliness of the staff. My husband had the shrimp poor boy, which he loved. His fries were just so so. I had the walleye sandwich and it was great - fish was nicely breaded and the bun was fresh and tasty. As a side, I had a very good and crisp salad and onion rings, which were some of the best I ever had. We will definitely go there again

My wife and I ordered the Creamy Shrimp Risotto. It was tasty and the soup was good too.

This is my first review of the 3 times my wife and I have dined here. The Ambiance is tired and could use some refreshing. Our first time here was Valentine's Day this year 2025. We arrived without reservations. Had to wait. No worries. Lesson learned. 2nd time had reservations, seated immediately, which was fine. Although the food and drinks took longer than expected. The food was good though. The last time was this past Friday. 5/8/25. Our last time here. Made reservations again. Table was waiting for us on point @5:30p didn't get attended to til 5:45 our waitress took our drink order and appetizers as well. 6:05 no dinks, no appetizers. We left. We drove over to Quatro's the owners other establishment and had great food and service.

Amazing staff and great food. The Nashville hot fish and chicken sandwich was awesome. Not sure why this place doesn't get more business!

When I asked the staff for their preferences, the overwhelming majority chose The Public House--many of us dine here regularly and genuinely enjoy both the food and the welcoming atmosphere. As the department cardholder, I coordinated directly with the owner to place 34 individual lunch orders. He made the process incredibly easy by allowing me to send one organized list with each employee's name and their chosen meal. I'll admit, I felt a wave of anxiety taking on such a large, detailed order; I worried something might get mixed up and that I'd end up facing complaints. I'm happy to share that my worries were completely unfounded. The owner and his team went above and beyond to ensure every single order was prepared accurately and on time. Not only was everything perfect, but the staff absolutely loved their meals...there wasn't a single complaint. What impressed me even more was that the owner personally delivered all 34 orders himself. That level of dedication and customer service is truly rare, and it meant so much to all of us. The Public House exceeded our expectations in every possible way, and I can't thank them enough for helping make a long meeting day run so smoothly. A heartfelt thank you to everyone at The Public House who assisted in ensuring every order was perfect...you are all genuinely appreciated!

My matcha latte was pretty mid -- not a coffee shop so I wouldn't necessarily expect anything incredible but it could have been hotter, at least. The frittata was very good and a generous portion -- I took part of it home for later. The pistachio pesto sauce really adds to it. I'd return to try more of their brunch menu (or others) without complaint -- why not!?

I do want to start with some thoughts before I give the highlights. We were charged a percent for using a credit card. I cannot speak to the in-person menu, but I combed the online menu and it did not mention that. We were also charged for ranch. Most places do not do that, and we were not informed there would be an upcharge. Most places allow you a sauce to go with fries. Also, for my meal, there is an image of an extra sauce which it did not come with, but we were charged for two small portions of ranch. Last, the server was just okay. I always enthusiastically ask questions to get to know more about a place. I asked if they had any other fruity drinks. She pointed to the drink menu and indicated just the Paloma. I said, but you have a full bar, this is the only fruity drink you make? She did not want to ask the bar, but I asked her to. The bar apparently only came up with one other drink idea, which I ended up getting two drinks listed on the menu (both very good) but it seemed like work for her to go out of her way to inquire. I also bet they could have made many fruity drinks, like maybe a Mai Tai, or some equivalent. Oh well. On the other hand, the Paloma was actually very good. It was a quality Paloma and I do recommend. Their other drink was seasonal with lavender, also a very nice drink. Most of the other places, like Honcho, I have no problem with getting a variety of drinks or inquiring about them, and the bar tender here did a great job. I came here because I was targeted by an ad on Instagram. This place was not on my radar, but since they created a meal (Steak-frites) very similar to Le Relais in Paris and New York, etc... I wanted to try it. It came with bottomless parm fries. The fries were crispy, savory, and delightful. The steak was super well cooked and was like butter. You did not even need a knife, it cut with a fork. Since I love next day leftovers, the steak was still super delicious and tender the next day. It was still like butter and cut with a fork. I would absolutely come back for that and bring the rest of my family. We also tried the tri-tip sandwich. We were told the bread was made fresh. I thought it was very good and very tender. My husband would have liked an au jus or horseradish sauce. He would try the hamburger next, but I would love another steak-frites, like right now! We were sad the coffee and pastry section closed early. In the past, at Honcho, we would get coffee and pastry after dinner since their coffee tends to be really good and quality. I would consider coming for brunch to try some. We talked to a gentleman who was part of the business as he was working hard. He was very kind and knowledgeable and took the time to hear our thoughts. I told him I was here for the steak. He thought I had a "but". I did not, it was great and I hope they can maintain that price point and the second serving of fries, because that was my main reason for visiting. He let us know the menu recently changed. I am not able to compare since this was my first time, but I liked that they had a steak dinner and pizza. If we come back my oldest loves this group's pizza, she gets it at Vinsetta, and this one looked very good.

We were escorted to our table by our lovely host, and when we arrived at our table in the back of the restaurant, there was a cute "happy birthday" table card waiting for us. This was incredibly thoughtful and a nice touch for our celebration dinner. Also, I love how this restaurant is decorated - the art work, the furniture, and plants - all come together to create a welcoming, cozy, warm atmosphere for any dining experience. I also love how the menu continuously rotates and highlights fresh produce from local suppliers. We both ordered a different dish and shared, plus we had some leftovers, so the portions are very generous. We also tried some of the oysters with vinaigrette they were fresh and delicious. To conclude our dinner, we were gifted with a DELIGHTFUL banana pudding with a scoop of ice cream and a candle to make a wish (though our wish for a wonderful meal and dining experience was throughly satisfied already ) Thanks again for a great time bellflower!

OMG these sautéed garden veggies were the best! The other main was a Japanese curry dish. Here is why the five starting dropped to a four. It was just ok. We would not order again. For dessert we had the bread pudding- another star for the night! To the owner, terrific staff. Everyone we engaged in, were positive and knowledgeable. They are a great team!
