WOW. What an experience! My friend and I wanted to try Indian in the area, but both of us were here for a conference and unfamiliar with the options. We weren't sure which Indian restaurant was going to be good so we went strictly by the reviews. Based on the reviews and location we decided to try out Harbor Tandoor. I have to say this experience was definitely intense... when we arrived we were taken aback at the noise and the crowd, and were not sure if we would even get seated but luckily they found a table for us quickly. We figured though on the positive side that if this place was this packed, it must be good! They were definitely understaffed and overwhelmed with the crowd, which I'm presuming was unexpected as Monday nights are supposed to be slow for them. We arrived around 7:50 and were served our food by 9pm. It's understandable that they were understaffed, but we had very poor service throughout. No one took our order for the longest time and the manager had to come over and asked if we were taken care of yet. When we said no we put in our order and he told us that the biryani that we ordered would take an extra 25 minutes and that he would bring out a plate of papadum while we waited. He was also helpful in recommending what we should order - - it was just the two of us but he said that the biryani was made for 3 to 4 people! But convinced us that we should order it anyway along with the salmon tikka that we were eyeing. He also advised that we didn't need to order the extra vegetable that we were considering (channa, eggplant or lentils on the sides menu) as that would be too much food. Nearly 45 minutes went by and we didn't have a morsel of food on our table! No one checked in with us either. We finally got our food and the presentation was beautiful and the food itself delicious! I think of myself as an Indian food snob and the food was really amazing. That helped take the sting of waiting away. After we got our food, still no one checked in with us. I had to wave down the waiters for extra raita, and when that didn't work I just had to go up to the bar to ask myself. When we were finished we asked another waiter, who we had to wave down of course, that we were ready to leave and to bring boxes and a check. We still waited and waited and then the manager came by and was really kind, profusely apologizing for the lack of service. Made a huge difference and he did acknowledge the fact that he never gave us our papadum and that things were so delayed that he was going to give us papadum on the house. I said that we were staying in a hotel and that we don't need to take that back because it would just be too much food. He insisted to give us papadum to go though! That was really nice and he brought us our to go boxes and said he would be back with a check. We had to wait even longer and finally just gave up and went up to the counter to tell him that we just couldn't wait any longer and had to go! He gave us our drinks on the house (2 masala teas and an iced tea) and was really nice. His customer oriented demeanor made a huge difference and pushed me to go from 4 1/2 stars to five. The food itself was absolutely delicious and worth going back for. We left much later than we wanted to but we're really satisfied by the meal. But still we left with no promised papadum, lol. read more

I have been looking for good Indian food in Baltimore city since I moved and this place delivered it for sure. While their menu is limited the quality of the food is amazing. They were able to create the correct spice level and provide delicious food. The restaurant is clean and does have a bar in the back. It's definitely not an overly fancy place. There is a cute wall in the back if you want to take an Instagram picture where the name of the location is written. We were seated promptly with our reservation. On a weeknight it was about half full. I tried to order the momos but they were out of any vegetarian ones and the chicken ones were ok. I would not order them again here. But the Indian food selections were fantastic. We ordered all our dishes at the same time so all the food would come out at the same time but it did take about 3 hours for our whole 1 course dinner. If you're anything like me and love Indian food, please make your way to Harbor Tandoor. There are pay to park spots in the next block but you should pull up today. We landed right around 3:30pm and we're the only people there but after 30-40 minutes, people started to trickle in. We decided to hang out a little longer to catch happy hour. They had a few deals and few dollars off of some of the appetizers. I'm glad we waited so that we could try a few more dishes and drinks. I tried the chicken Mo Mo and although I'm not a huge dumpling fan, I thoroughly enjoyed them. The samosas had a perfect crunch and flavor. My chicken tikka Marsala was the perfect amount of sweet with creamy consistency. I ate way too much naan but it was worth it. Service was great to go along with amazing food. I actually ordered them through uber eats, and got chicken tikka masala with an extra side of jasmine rice. Absolutely delicious with moist chicken and all of the flavors! It would not be right if I did not update this review by stating that the butter chicken is absolutely transformative. It is the best Indian food I have ever put in my mouth. Yummy Indian dinner! The indoor is classy and comfortable but we chose to sit on the patio to enjoy the last of the nice weather :) Started with the mango lassi. It's good, but on the thicker side and more "yogurty" than others I've had. Both the garlic naan and samosas were so delicious! The sauces that came with the samosas were so good we dipped our naan in it as well. Aloo gobi and shahi paneer were both good. You can adjust the spice level if you're not into spicy food! Parking here was easy. There was street parking and a garage next door. The vibe of the restraunt was nice, clean, and modern. I ordered the mango drink and it was phenomenal. It actually tasted like it was made with fresh mango purée and not the artificial mango flavoring. I ordered the seafood pakora, dhel puri, samosa chat, kale, and the chicken mono for appetizers.It was hard to pick between the puri, samosa, and the mono which was my favorite. They were all amazing. The kale was a hit at our table too. For my personal choice, I'd of liked the yogurt on the side and if it came that way, this would have been my top appetizer. The seafood pakora was also really good but it didn't have that gram flavor that I am used to on a typical pakora. But, I liked that it wasn't heavy/greasy. For dinner, we got the chicken dum briyani and it was delicious. I got the saag lamb. The lamb was really tender and cooked very well but there was some my hint missing from the flavoring and it was just ok to me. My friend got the seafood dish? which I really liked but my friend thought it was ok. My other friend got the butter chicken dish and he really enjoyed that. The portion sizes were really good. It was a lot of food. I asked for really really spicy at level 10 and it was more like a level 6 to me. Harbor Tandoor has a modern trendy atmosphere while preparing classic dishes with big flavors. Wait times between starters and main dishes was not long. The staff was friendly and helpful in explaining the different dishes. Becareful when asked about spiciness level, a 10...IS A TEN! A friend of mine recommended this newer Indian spot a couple months ago & I finally found the time to stop by! My ultimate determination for good Indian cuisine is the Butter Chicken. There's an unsung balance between the tender chicken, delectable creamy tomato sauce and the spices that complement. Theirs topped it all! ( and they increased the spice level for me ) The Garlic Naan bread was very fresh and definitely suffices for two. I saved room for dessert; my waiter recommended the popular option, Gulab Jamun. This is the best Indian food in fells point/harbor east area. They opened just a few months ago and have made their mark on the area! We had a number of entrees including the garlic naan, pesto paneer, chicken tikka masala, saag paneer and more. Everyone LOVED their food. I'm still thinking about it. We came in on a very busy night and the staff was quick to get us seated at the bar. The service was great and all of the staff were so friendly. We ordered the dumplings in a creamy tikka masala sauce and they were delicious! Our main dishes were paneer tikka masala and chicken vindaloo served with basmati rice. When looking for a takeout dinner with friends, I happened across Harbourton door with a whopping 4.8 stars on yelp, and I knew I had to try it. I'm normally not huge on Indian food so I was not 100% sure what to order and my group decided to order quite a number of things to try out. We ordered the garlic on, the samosas, the vindaloo chicken, the rogan Josh, the butter chicken, and the another lamb dish. We got plenty of rice to share with the assortment of stews and the food was still hot when we got back so we were able to dig right in. I primarily ate the Rogan Josh since I really enjoy lamb, but also had to taste of the vindaloo chicken and the appetizers. Everything was cooked to perfection and very tender. Even though I normally don't gravitate towards Indian food, I enjoyed it. If you like spicy food definitely order your spicy or extra spicy, the medium is just flavorful and the spicy had just a little bit of spice. read more

We chose to eat here after walking around Fell's Point and not wanting the mostly bar style food in that area. They were very nice and were able to seat us immediately. They did have a few tables reserved. I felt that the food was a little on the pricey side for Indian and for the serving sizes. With the interior and service, I think they also try to be on the slightly upscale side. The food was great. The garlic naan was of course addicting. I wish an order of naan came with dinner but it's all extra. This is one of the first Indian places I've tried in the area so I can't do much of a comparison yet. read more

Had a great experience at this restaurant for a graduation lunch. They accommodated a big table so nicely and the staff was incredible. The food was delicious. It wasn't overly oily and didn't feel so heavy despite the indulgent sauces that came with everything. Stand outs to me were the pesto paneer, the chicken tikka masala and chicken skewers. Loved this place so much fun we had a blast. The waiters were lovely and very accommodating to our child. They took our party of 8 in last minute on a Saturday. We ordered old fashioned and mango martini for drinks and they were quite strong. I wish the mango martini and more fresh and light feel, rather it was a little viscous. For apps we the Momos (vegetarian) - the sauce did not compliment the momos well but it definitely an interesting twist. The kale chaat, dahi puri and cauliflower were all wonderful. I didn't even get to take pictures of the main course because we inhaled it - we ordered the saag paneer, shahi paneer and kofta ( all spicy) and they all came out to perfection - they managed to preserve the taste of the food and made the food very spicy which was a hard skill to acquire when it comes to Indian food. They have a limited kids menu which is still great (have not seen this at Indian restaurant which is a nice bonus). We made our way to the inner harbor tonight with our parents and baby girl. Walking into Tandoor, it is small and intimate with a bar and tables great for smaller groups. We didn't have a reservation but they were able to squeeze us in. We had the samosa chat to start and then split the saag chicken, tikka paneer and garlic naan. All we're amazing but the real star was the kids paneer. It was out 1yr old's first time and she was the biggest fan. I can easily say this is the best restaurant I have been to in Baltimore so far. Even going for lunch on a random Monday the service was impeccable and the food was bar-none. We shared the cauliflower bizuli, punjabi samosa, and samosa chaat for appetizers, which came out fast and were so delicious. I especially loved the blend of flavors in the samosa chaat, it was the perfect savory dish with refreshing yogurt and chutneys on top. Went to the city for a 3 day business conference and had a very unpleasant lunch at a place nearby the Hyatt Inner harbor hotel. I decided to venture slightly farther from the tourist area and found Harbor Tandoor within walking distance. This place was so good! I recommend the Lamb Rogan Josh and some garlic naan. Gonna have to agree with the rest here, this place is damn good. Biryani dishes are LARGE and done more in a Pulao-fashion. Flavor of the rice runs complementary to and supports the meat, which takes center stage. Kadhai Paneer is the most flavorful paneer dish I have had in recent memory; moreso than any curry I've had back home on the West Coast as well, in fact. For once the paneer was not the most flavorful aspect of the offering by a long shot and only served to mellow the dish, which says a lot about the layering of flavors and seasoning elements throughout. Exceptional food. Service was attentive and the atmosphere had a very good selection of music to my ears, but...that is not the point of the review. I've never had Indian food before and was not sure what to expect. I was blown away! I never leave reviews and had to leave one as soon as we left. First, our server, (Satheesh) was amazing. So kind, so prompt, truly great customer service. The restaurant ambiance was very comfortable, clean, casual but elevated. The table and chairs were roomy and comfortable. And the food was delicious! We also (not pictured) had the vegetable pakora and samosas which were surprisingly good, and my butter paneer was absolutely incredible, the garlic naan made it even better.
