In addition, Etienne managed our full remodel. We had extensive work such as a complete new master bathroom, breaking down 1 room and combining it with another to create an en-suite with full kitchenette and family room, brick work and stonework through out the home, all lighting was taken out and new lighting installed and so much more. Etienne and Mike are a wonderful team! Etienne took a lot of time with us when we were choosing our beautiful walnut flooring! Now that it's been a year or so, we called and asked for the routine maintenance he had suggested. That's where Mike came in! He and his helper, Carlos, were here before the scheduled appointment time. They were very careful and very thorough. Mike showed me the filthy water that was produced from cleaning my floor! They have been extremely responsive. Oh, and Mike came back with small pads and "gorilla glue" so that I could add protection to the bottom of my dining chairs. I purchased my beautiful hardwood floors from Cut & Dried Flooring approximately 2 years ago with a Maintenance Agreement and had them installed by Harbour Hardwood Floors. After having my family over for this summer for several weeks and all the kids running in and out from the swimming pool through the house my floors looked like they needed some help. I called Harbour Hardwood Floors and asked if they could send out someone to do a visual inspection of my floors, as this was included in my Maintenance Agreement. Etienne came by, checked the floors and suggested I do a deep cleaning & coat on all the high traffic areas. Mike and his team came in and did an excellent job. My wife and I purchased a home that needed new flooring. When she wanted to go to Cedros to shop, I expected high prices and aloof service but we really found a gem at Cut and Dried hardwood. We ended up using reclaimed flooring from an old mill that had been built in the 1800s. The character is amazing and while it wasn't cheap, the floors really made our remodel special and I think it represented tremendous value. They bring a warmth that wouldn't have been available any other way. Etienne has contacts across the country who are responsibly reclaiming old barns, mills and warehouses and giving them new life. I wil have to concur with the below unfavorable reviews. They were difficult to get a hold of. Their bid was almost 2x that of another. I was willing to go with them as I had my downstairs floors installed by them 15 years ago when under a different owner. When I finally received the bid it was incongruent and high. When we finally after weeks of getting everything nailed down then they said they didn't have time for the work. Difficult to work with and unpleasant attitude. I've been in a construction project at my residence for a few months. The designer brought out a sample, we just loved. One problem, the product and installation was very expensive through the builder. I looked everywhere for a comparable product. While having lunch in Solana Beach I saw Cut and Dried Flooring/ Harbour Hardwood Flooring. I walked in and looked at there selection. It was great, but just wasn't what we had been looking for. The owner Etienne came out and looked at the sample we had. He said he could have that made for us. Not only did he have it custom made, but he beat the price and installation. The flooring has been the smoothest and best part of our remodel. Mike who did the installation was professional and kept us informed of the process the whole way through. Avoid this place! I wanted an estimate for getting engineered hardwood installed. I called and scheduled a visit at my home. The gentleman who came (sorry I forgot his name) was prompt and professional. Quickly took measurements, asked valid questions, raised a few issues, and provided good answers to my questions. I was told I would get an estimate via email within a few days. Then ... nothing. Granted he came and made the measurements around the July 4th holiday, so I expect a small delay in getting an estimate. About a week and a half later I call them (they didn't call me!) to ask about my estimate. I was told there was a "computer issue" and that I should get one shortly, 1-2 days at most. Another week or two goes by and I call again. This time, I was told that the guy who was supposed to give me an estimate was on vacation, but should be responding via email. I should receive the estimate within a few days. And again .... nothing. It's been a month now and I still haven't received an estimate. I also haven't received a phone call to tell me where it is, or explain the problem. This company is *extremely* unprofessional. They do not communicate well, they don't do what they say, they don't follow up with their customer. They have not called me once. I would NEVER suggest working with such a company for a home improvement. read more

Bottom Line: Save yourself time, money, insults, and damage to your home and choose a different company. There are many reputable flooring companies that have access to the same wood products that Cut and Dried (Harbour Hardwood) have access to. The demolition job of the old floor was subcontracted out. The demo crew scuffed my walls with their floor grinder, damaged the toe kick underneath my kitchen cabinets, crushed two areas of bullnose corners and needed to use MY shopvac to do daily clean up because they didn't have one. Cut and Dried said they would fix the damage the demo crew caused. They fixed the toe kick under the kitchen cabinets, but not the paint on the walls or the bullnose on the two corners. The flooring install crew, with the exception of one guy, worked very slow. One guy would show up around 7:30am, the next guy would show around 8am and they might get started by 8:30 if they were lucky! Lunch took an hour and they would start cleanup by 3:30 and gone by 4'ish. Additionally, they put a hole in my drywall while stacking material and busted a portion of a window covering. The baseboard install didn't go too much better than the floor. When nailing the baseboards to the wall, the installer didn't use a stud finder to make sure he was hitting a stud (I even offered to let him use mine, but he refused). As a result, nails were sunk directly into drywall and some of the baseboard didn't hold its shape on the wall. I unfortunately had paid in full before realizing that the one man install team forgot to put base in the coat closet and my son noticed they missed a corner in a bathroom. I've done many small and large home renovations with great contractors. However, I've never had a worse experience with a contractor than with the owner / manager of this company. For a job that took only two and a half weeks, I had to write out four checks. The first was to cover materials before he would order them (no problem) - nobody wants to be stuck with material a customer no longer wants. That amount was 68 percent of the total job price. The second check he wanted was the day they started demolition. He put in the contract that he need a check at start of work, but did not put an amount that was due. He wanted a check to bring payment to 89 percent of the total cost of the job; and he had done NOTHING. The final issue came when the owner / manager wanted another check (the 3rd) when the floor was was finished being installed, even though they were coming back the next day to begin the baseboard install. I said I would pay him when the floor install was finished. It took his workers two hours to clean up last minute items. During that time the owner must have asked for a check at least three times BEFORE the job was finished. I reiterated that I would pay for the floor when it was done. With the last items complete I went to write a check and I told to the owner / manager that I did not appreciate being constantly asked for more money before a job was complete. The owner proceeded to RAISE his voice at me and tell me how he didn't like having to wait for his money or keep asking me for a check. I was in disbelief! The floor had only been done for five minutes and it was his choice to stay on the job site. He could have come back later in the day or the next day when they began the baseboard install to get a check. I informed him also that I was taking off money to cover the broken shutter. At which point, he looked at me and ask "are you SURE it wasn't broken already?" That was the end for me. Although they had bid to put in baseboards upstairs to match the downstairs, I wasn't going to give another penny to a company owner who yells at me in my own home and then accuses me of lying to him about damage that his workers caused. read more

We recently worked with Etienne at Cut & Dried Hardwood Flooring in late 2015 to replace our downstairs carpet and existing aging wood floor with new hardwood. The showroom has a great selection of available stock from numerous suppliers, and even cooler is that Cut & Dried can have custom wood floor designs milled and finished for your project. Etienne was a pleasure to work with throughout the bidding process. We went with a smooth finish hickory by Garrison Collection which looks beautiful. Harbour Hardwood performs their installations (which I believe is the parent company that owns Cut & Dried?) We had custom-milled oak baseboards stained and installed to top off the project. Installation crew was efficient, courteous and attentive to detail, especially given the fact they had to spend numerous days tearing out the old glue-down wood floor and grind the concrete foundation to level. They were quick to respond to any fixes we requested and things couldnt have gone any easier. I highly recommend Cut & Dried flooring. read more

Purchased and had them install hardwoods in our condo in downtown San Diego and the flooring and installation was done extremely well. Our condo is pretty difficult with installation and requires a 1/2 layer of cork for sound deadening which Cut and Dried did wonderfully. The floor feels solid, has no dead or soft spots and all the tricky angles and transitions to our tile areas were handled beautifully. Mike, the Cut and Dried rep., said, "No problem," after his first visit to the space, and the crew he sent--Jeff, Nathan, Tim, and Mark--dealt masterfully with a difficult situation. They were all knowledgeable, hardworking, and even fun to have around for the two weeks of installation when we were living downstairs. The flooring, itself, was an oil-finished hickory (finished by a company in San Diego) that was as high quality as the installers were. The finished product is spectacular.
