We bought carpet 7 years ago and was very happy with the installation. I recently had other rooms replaced. What a horrible experience this time. The carpet measurements were incorrectly ordered for the job and there was enough over ordered to carpet a 12'x10' room. The carpet cut around the stair railing looked like an amateur installed it. I emailed West Coast Flooring and sent a photo of the completed job. We did not get a response, You might want to find another company for your carpet needs. read more

The would not be satisficed until all aspect of the work including balancing the concrete was correct. Also, all edging and transitions were perfect. The service we requested was to replace all carpeted area of our house with Vanier wood like floor. The sales people were fantastic, helping us with the selection, making it easy. We are very pleased with our experience with West Coast Flooring. We went in knowing the exact flooring we wanted - West Coast was one of three bids we received (others included GCs and flooring contractors). Pricing was very competitive and, more importantly, I I felt like West Coast Flooring was the most knowledgeable. Tyler, our sales manager, provided great advice during the walk through and noted a few suggestions that none of the other installers did (for example, we had paneling in our office that we eventually wanted to remove - Tyler had the foresight to bring this up and mention it would impact the floors). The install itself went great. The team did a fantastic job and the floors feel very smooth. We had existing tile in hallways vs carpeted bedrooms - it is not obvious that there is a small incline between rooms. They did a very good job with the self leveling compound to achieve this seamless transition. We have arched walkways and the install team also did a fantastic job with curving the baseboards to accommodate this. Dang! It's hard to get quotes for flooring in San Diego, but it wasn't here. I came into the store with a pretty good idea already of what I wanted and a tight timeline. I had measurements and a quote from California Flooring that I thought was too high. Tyler immediately wrote up a quote, he seemed nice, easy to talk to, and efficient (my favorite), and the quote came in 14% lower so I went with them. My time frame got delayed two days, which is a big inconvenience. They handled it well. David and Zach demo'd and laid the floors in 3 days. They did an amazing job and worked very hard. The floors look better than I ever could have expected. I ended up getting California Classics Matisse Collection in Collioure. I visited several stores to plan for the change of the upstairs flooring in my rental unit before I moved back to my place. I did not have access to the unit and needed an approximate quote based on the floor plan measurements but everyone except Tyler at West Coast Flooring told me that I had to wait until they could take measurements themselves. West Coast Flooring installed Coretec vinyl plank floors throughout the upstairs of our home including the bathrooms. We're very happy with our floors and we're planning to ask West Coast Flooring to do the downstairs later this year. The installers could have been a bit more tidy, but isn't that always the case? I'd like to take a moment to rave about the product. We have a rambunctious 4-yr old and two cats, so we wanted something that was beautiful but also durable. We chose the Coretec Blackstone Oak and it is gorgeous - everyone raves about how how beautiful it is. As for its durability and ease of maintenance, we had a real test of this soon after our floor was installed. One of our cats became sick and was pee-ing all over the floor for a week - he couldn't help it, he was in agony. I called Tyler and he recommended Bona stone, tile and laminate cleaner. Spray, wipe, done. No smell, no stain, no problem! Easy! So in summary, I would recommend both West Coast Flooring and Coretec LVT to others. :) read more

Fairly priced and did a nice job on the carpet installation. 1) Owner is a standup guy 2) Carpet pricing includes installation fee. Carpet competitively priced. 3) They feature Shaw carpeting. (which is good quality) 4) I purchased the best possible padding, however after the installation I walked on carpet and felt the the padding felt somewhat inferior. Also, the realtors commented that walking on the carpet felt a little flat. Next time I'm in the neighborhood I'm going to invite the owner to the house to walk on the carpet, to get his take. (and so he knows, for the sake of future customers, how this particular upgraded padding feels with this particular carpet) 5) My only main issue: Caught the installer tossing his used cutter blade under the padding while working on the stairs. (fyi carpet installers constantly change their blades) Firmly told him that was wrong, and who knows might someday harm someone, he didn't seem to care or even have a clue. Would like to run a metal detector around the rooms to see how many other used blades were tossed under the padding. After they left I found a broken blade on my driveway. 6) Would I recommend them to others? Yes . So I set up an appointment to come into the shop, see what they have, and get their sales pitch. When I arrived the doors were locked with a sign that said they were understaffed, the shop had to be closed, and to call a number for service. Well I didn't call the number. Having gone out of my way to be on time for a scheduled appointment, not getting a call back from them to reschedule, I knew all I needed to know about this shady company. I will NEVER hire any contractor that doesn't respect the customer's time and from the get go proves unreliable. West coast flooring checks both of those boxes. I had a very negative experience with this carpet installation. It should have been a straight forward issue - carpeting one guest bedroom. Ended up being a series of mishaps along the way that made the process much more drawn out and frustrating than it should have been. I found the salesperson - Tyler - to be a bit slippery and insincere. Yes - the problems were eventually taken care of; but should I have to promise a good yelp review for this to occur??? Which is exactly what Tyler asked for me to do. There are so many complaints I have, but feel I've already wasted too much time with this company. Two main problems which occurred I've included pictures below: 1- first carpet arrived with giant holes in it. Tyler wouldn't immediately reorder a new piece because he was battling the manufacturer over whose fault it was. 2- after carpet finally reordered and installation rescheduled - over a week later - the installers pulled my draperies off of the wall (rings and rods.., see photos). Tyler wouldn't admit that it was his installer who did this until I sent photos and pictures of the room. He then said he'd get it fixed if we promised him a good yelp review. I don't know where the 5 star reviews came from for west coast flooring. Suffice it to say that I'm being generous with two stars. My advice - either take your business elsewhere or hold payment until job completed. I made the big mistake of paying the vast majority of bill before the carpet was even ordered (at Tyler's insistence...). Shady place. Shop around. read more

I contracted through Costco who uses West Coast Flooring as their flooring service provider. My furniture and baseboards were destroyed in the process and West Coast Flooring blamed it on me and refused to take responsibility. West Coast Flooring send a 'furniture touch up" worker to address the damage to my furniture and this individual dripped furniture finish all over my new wood floors. The dents in my furniture have still not been fixed. Again, West Coast denied responsibility. After workers finished the job, my floors bowed and creaked in several places. Their solution was to hammer down these areas. Now I have shiney nails showing in these areas on my floor. Buyer beware. read more

We first met Tyler in the San Marcos store, in 2010, when we bought Karndean vinyl plank flooring for the entry and kitchen of our home. He has been our sales person for more Karndean flooring and carpeting ever since. Earlier this month we remodeled our master bedroom and bath and replaced old carpeting with more Karndean flooring. Our installer, Alex, was from West Coast Flooring and did an outstanding job. He was precise and proficient. He had to move large furniture out of the room and remove old carpeting and padding before installing the flooring. The new flooring needed to match up with previously installed flooring. When he finished everything flowed perfectly. Not only did he do a beautiful job laying the flooring but he completed the job in less than five hours - furniture back in place and all trash and dust removed. I decided to install a new floor in my house as of late. After shopping around multiple places I discovered West Coast. Tyler helped me out and was really professional and extrmely helpful. I had a general idea of what I wanted. However, Tyler made sure I checked out multiple options so I knew what was available to me. We have worked with West Coast Flooring for several years now in two different homes. We recently decided to purchase flooring and tile here for a bathroom renovation (during a pandemic... with an infant...). The day before installation we realized that the tile we had ordered and picked up weeks earlier was in the wrong color. We didn't review the PO carefully which was on us, but Tyler was extremely professional and could tell we were disappointed around the mix-up. Just when we were about to accept it and move forward, he pulled through for us and somehow was able to get his distributor to include our intended tile in their next delivery. After my condo flooded a couple months ago, I had to replace the existing engineered hardwood flooring that had been in the place since I bought it. I had already gone to probably probably ten other flooring stores and had people try to talk me into and out of almost every kind of flooring--wood-look tile, engineered hardwood, laminate and luxury vinyl planks--by the time I walked into West Coast Flooring. I had finally decided on engineered hardwood (or so I thought) and had Tyler showing me the various options and helping me figure out what would work well with my cabinets, kitchen countertops and new paint color, but I gravitated to a sample that Tyler then told me was actually laminate. Unlike the sales people in many of the other flooring stores I'd been in, Tyler didn't push me in either direction, but explained the pros and cons of laminate and let me look at it side-by-side with hardwood so I could make my own decision. In the end, I loved that particular sample and realized that laminate made sense for me (less expensive, more resistant to scratches from my dog's nails, and looked like wood even when you look at it up close and right next to hardwood), and I'm very happy with the decision! After I chose a sample, Tyler made an appointment to come down to my condo to do some measurements and bring the sample so I could see it in the exact lighting of my condo. Unfortunately, I got stuck at work at the last minute, but Tyler was able to measure the condo on his own and was nice enough to leave the sample with me overnight so I could still see how it looked in my space. He also helped me put together the application that I had to submit to my HOA, and was quick to order everything and set up the installation as soon as I was ready. The installers did a great job as well. My concrete subfloor was pretty uneven, so they had to spend almost an entire day filling the low spots with new concrete. They still finished in the amount of time they had initially quoted, and the floor is quiet and looks great! Very happy with the new flooring. I also ordered some tile backsplash for my kitchen from West Coast Flooring. It wasn't a tile that they ordinarily carried, but Tyler was able to order it and even price match the quote I'd gotten from another company. He was also quick to help me out with ordering more tile when my installer realized that we hadn't ordered enough. Overall, what made the experience for me was the customer service. Tyler made himself available via both phone and text message, kept me updated on status, was super knowledgeable and was always happy to answer my questions (however dumb they may have been).
