I stopped in for breakfast and had the Biscuit & Gravy meal, and it really hit the spot. The biscuit was soft and fresh, the gravy had great flavor, and the tater tots were hot and perfectly crisp. At the drink counter, I made a half sweet / half unsweet iced tea, and it was incredibly fresh--classic Carolina tea done right. Service was a pleasant surprise. Even though it's counter-order, the staff brought my meal out to my table, and everyone at the counter was genuinely friendly. I also appreciated how easy it was to scan my bar code in the Hardee's app and earn points right at the register. The men's bathroom was clean, which is always something I look for during a breakfast stop. Only downside: there was one pesky fly buzzing around the dining area, but otherwise the restaurant felt clean and well maintained. As someone who enjoys Hardee's history, it's fun eating at a location in Raleigh--just about an hour from where Hardee's was founded in 1960 in Greenville, NC. Raleigh was one of the early cities where the chain grew during the 1960s and 70s, and today Hardee's is still known across the Southeast for its made-from-scratch biscuits, a tradition that dates back nearly 50 years. Drive thru was easy, nothing major - the cashier did have a little "hurry up" tone, but that was quickly dismissed once I stated to give me a moment to think. The food was correct as ordered. Some of the items were hot and the others not so much. The hot dog was extremely hot as if it was microwaved - with the toughness of the bread - I believe that to be the case. Not sure if that is the norm now, but yeah that's not going to cut it for me. There are not many @Hardees left in Raleigh, but this is a decent one. Of the fast food places, not fast casual, Hardees has some of the better tasting burgers. But that is just my opinion. Probably the worst experience at any restaurant to date! I came to this location this morning, against my better judgment. Issue #1: They were offering a deal for 2 biscuits for $4, with an option to "combo it" for an upcharge. I told the cashier I wanted the deal as a combo, and he tells me I can't get the combo because it's not apart of the deal. I explain to him the advertisement on one of the windows, and he tells me that it would be more than $4 if I made it a combo........duh! I politely told him that was fine; although, a couple staff members looked perplexed at the entire conversation. BIGGER Issue: I'm finishing up my meal when the same employee proceeds to sweep near the area I am seated. I don't think anything of it, because it's not an uncommon thing. What IS uncommon, however, is him moving up to my table and sweeping underneath the very table I'm seated, eating. Then attempting to go underneath the table with me still sitting there, and saying, "excuse me, I need to get by your foot", and sweeping my foot . At this point, I stare aloud, "Im done", I get up, and walk out. Outside, I decide to go back in and speak with a manager, to express my concerns. It took the manager nearly 10 minutes to come from the back, because he happened to also be the cook. When he came out, I relayed my thoughts and concerns, and he nonchalantly states he would handle the situation, and that he was preparing to send some people home. I went there yesterday about 2pm and ordered chicken tenders. After I had ordered and paid, the counter person told me that it would be 6-7 minutes. I had to check back 3 times, and after a half an hour, I walked up and the counter guy handed me a bag, which turned out to be somebody else's food. They took it back from me, and it was another 5 minutes before I got my food. It wasn't even hot, so I wonder why the delay. I got no apology for waiting, had to ask for the sauce I had ordered, again, The whole time this was going on, I heard the crew laughing and talking loudly in the back. When I left, I noticed that they hadnt given me a receipt, and I went up and requested it. The counter guy had to get someone else to come and print the receipt for me. To start off, I pass by this place all the time near my house, and I am always tempted to go there. Today, I decided was the day to get some bacon egg and cheese biscuits! IDK if its just me, but as a young kid, I have fond memories of getting Hardees before going on trips to Wilmington to see my grandparents. They would smile, give us warm food and orange juice in a big clear cup with aluminum top where you would pop a thick straw in it. Sometimes I would beg my mom for a hash-brown and they would throw one in there in secret! I called them to ask when their breakfast ended, since locations vary. Someone picked up the phone and it was silent for about 10 seconds with chattering in the background, until someone annoyingly said "Hello"?. I asked if it was Hardees because I thought I dialed someones cellphone, but they said yeah and asked the hours. After they told me i say thank you and they just hung up without a word. I was like, ok, maybe they are busy! I set my alarm the previous day to wake up early because I assumed they stopped breakfast early , and I wanted to get some before they ended it and I had to go run errands. I go through the drive through (lol) and no one answered the machine. So I was like "Hello?" ..no response.. then suddenly they were like what would you like. I asked them what the combo came with and they answered my questions like they hated me. MIND YOU, I was not being annoying and was being very sweet and understanding. I am a sweet, cute, 19 year old girl lol. And then I said my order and there was nothing for like a minute. I repeated it and they said go to the window all annoyed. I think it was the same dude on the phone... So I roll up, its this middle aged man, and he says can I give you fries instead of hash-browns cause they were still cooking. I was like... can I just wait for the has-browns? He rolls his eyes and throws my card on the counter and disappears. He comes back and hands me a small orange juice. Like a carton you would get from school. I was like....wtf... because 1. I ordered large, and 2. Its not what I remembered as a kid. He comes back and gives me my card. I said do you want me to come back in a couple minutes when the hash-browns are ready, and he was like yes with a fake smile. I almost felt bad since I have worked in food places busier then that, and can sympathize with the workers, but he was such a jerk. He then left completely to go show this kid somewhere where to roll a cart. Idk it was weird. Cars were honking for someone to come from the ordering machine. I pulled up once he came back and asked this lady if my drink was a large , she was like no, then looked at the dude like 'what are you doing', and she gave me another carton. The dude was like "oh whoops..." but he knew it was not a large. They charged the whole combo as a large without telling me btw... I was like ok thanks, and took my greasy food home. Cold eggs. Stopped for lunch today. After we ordered there were no lids for our drinks and everything was dirty, the staff did not care. We sat down and waited for our food for about 20 minutes. While doing so, we witnessed the cashier touch her face and mouth multiple times with her long nails and then touch peoples food without washing her hands. The employees were yelling at each other the whole time. We asked for our money back after waiting so long for "fast food" they gave us our money back without a word of apology. The curly fries were real good. Pretty clean in there too. Customer service was adequate, no drive thru service, because I walked in. Fries took a reasonable amount of time to fry. Ketchup was good - pump type, which I like, because I don't have to worry about all that excess waste. Sat down and ate my fries at this kind of a gray table. The lights were pretty oppressive. After I finished I looked for the trash can, it was easy enough to find. The can thanked me for throwing things away in it.
