The place was pretty empty on a Monday around 4:30pm. The do make the meals to order as it took about maybe 10 minutes for me to get my food. The Harlem classic burger was what you'd expect. Crispy outside and filled with grease. I wish there were more onions, and the pickles weren't prominent at all. The buns were soft. However, I think there are better burgers in the city. The fries were great, but you can never go wrong with curly fries. The chipotle mayo paired well with them, but personal preference-wise, I'd prefer ketchup. The flavor of the strawberry ice cream was good, but it was still a bit chunky and icy. I would be a little more cautious about sitting in the outdoor area when there are few patrons because there was a homeless man that came in and begged another guest for more money to the point of crying after she gave him some already. Terrible service. Arrived to the Brooklyn location with my family of 4 - ordered, waited for over an hour, only to be told, when we inquired, that our order didn't even make it to the kitchen yet. Apparently the system was down and no one thought to notify us! Now I understand that technology malfunctions beyond our control but the lack of communication was unacceptable! 12 Days prior to today. Ordered from this place on uber eats. The staff only sent 1/2 the order. I had to call them and The manager says to me you can either get a refund which will take 2 business days or I'll have to come and pick it up or get a credit. I tell him I'll pick it up. He says I'll have them start making your order so when you get here it'll be ready to go. Once I get here which was within 10 min. The food hadn't been prepared. While the food is really good, the service is really bad. I would rate the food a four out of five and the service of one out of five. I got their hot mess burger in addition to their french fries. The burger was exceptional. It had sweet, relish, as well as really crispy and savory beef. It was a perfect ratio of ingredients and was super fresh and flavorful. The fries were also really exceptionally great. They were perfectly fried and had so much flavor. The reason this place only gets three stars is because the service was terrible. When I got there, it took at least 15 minutes for any of the workers to decide to help me. Several of them looked my way with distain, and would not come over to help take an order. Once I did place my order, they still were very unfriendly throughout the entire experience. This is actually my second time going to this restaurant. The first time that I stepped foot into this restaurant was relatively brief, so I did not take in too much of my surroundings. This time, I did. So, I can now make a thorough review! Ambiance: 10/10 The ambiance gave me the '90s vibe despite me being a 2000s baby. It was so relaxed. I take it that their red velvet was so good they ran out. I will try to make it a mission to get their red velvet shake the next time I visit. Great local spot in Harlem for some quick, inexpensive, no-frills, diner type of food. I came here with some friends for a quick meet up after a solemn occasion and it was perfect for us. Everyone was able to find something they liked and there were no complaints. We were seated quickly and given menus, and then we were instructed to go up to the counter to place our orders and pay. You give your name and they call you to pick up your food. I believe they take all forms of payment? But I'm not 100% sure. They have one unisex bathroom that isn't fancy, but it was clean. The place was very busy, but I did come here after the African American parade, and many parade goers did the same. There was a live singer performing in the outer area, which was full, but there were still seats available inside. The place's deco feels like the 1960s and gives off "blast from the past" vibes. The staff were constantly on the move, due to how busy the place was, but each answered questions politely when asked. I used the link on the 10% coupon, distributed during the parade to place my order, so all I had to do was pick up my bag. (Word to the wise, on a busy night, the one stall all gender bathroom line will take a while, so go before or after your trip here.) I ordered three items; Harlem classic/beef, curly fries and cookies and cream shake. Of the three, I most enjoyed the shake - perfection! The burger was good, but the bun tasted a bit off, a little too doughy. I ordered the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich, along with truffle fries and Harlem Shake signature shake, which is a red velvet milkshake. The sandwich consisted of dark meat, Mike's hot honey, and mayo. This was quite tasty, with delightfully crispy, tender, well-seasoned chicken. The hot honey sauce was a wonderful accompaniment. The bread was also nicely toasted. The truffle fries were decent, with pretty good truffle oil taste. They were also crunchy and full of potato goodness. The red velvet milkshake was absolutely delicious! It was incredibly thick, smooth, creamy, rich, and sweet with bits of yummy red velvet cake throughout. The food was solid, with decent prices: Sandwiches cost around $8, fries were approximately $5, while small shakes were $5-6. I visited Harlem Shake in late September and early October 2025. I've always walked by this restaurant while in the area and always wanted to try it. I finally decided to give it a try. When we entered the restaurant, we were greeted by staff. From the moment we walked into the establishment I loved the atmosphere. We waited about 5 -7 mins in line before finally getting to the register. Once we placed our order the representative at the register flipped the screen to ensure our order was accurate. I think all restaurants should do this to ensure the accuracy of customer's orders and also to ensure food is not going to waste. We decided to dine outside at first, I was concerned I wouldn't be able to hear my name. But they were loud enough for me to hear outside. I also received a text message when my order was ready. During my first visit I ordered a cheeseburger and the C-dog which is a grilled hotdog with sauerkraut and mustard. I requested it well done like the burger. The burger was absolutely delicious and grilled to perfection just the way I love it. My hot dog was also grilled to perfection my only complaint was they put too much mustard on the hotdog which made it drown out the other flavor and also really mess. They also stacked a whole bunch of sauerkraut on the hotdog that I had to take some of it off. I decided to try a milkshake since people raved about it. I had the Black & White and my aunt had the cookies and cream. Let me tell you they both weren't good save your money. I ended up washing down my food with the water I was carrying around. My aunt also had a Froze I wasn't a fan of it as I'm not a drinker and it solely tasted like straight alcohol. When I visited again in October, I ordered the Classic Fried Chicken Sandwich and it had absolutely no flavor. I only tasted black pepper. It was too bland for such a chucky piece of chicken. I was very disappointed. I don't think I'd order this again. I ordered another hot dog but forgot to say I wanted it well done. It was okay this time they put the right amount of ketchup but again way to much sauerkraut. I decided to try their Shirley Temple Soda. I'm warning you now do not order this. Went here on a random Thursday night. It was not my first and it will not be my last. The cashiers are always friendly. They will greet you and offer you a menu upon entry. TheyI ordered their hot mess burger and added lettuce with a side of their curly fries. The burger never disappoints and did not yesterday. Their homemade relish is what gives the burger its flavor - It's so good i ordered a side of it to go. The curly fries are crispy yet soft. It's also a banger. My only critique would be their buns can tend to get soggy. I wish their buns had more structure so that it can hold the double patties and hot mess sauce. 1 Star - Terrible Experience at Harlem Shake I was extremely disappointed with my visit to Harlem Shake. I went with a friend, and from the get-go, things went wrong. When we got our shakes, mine was so hard that I couldn't even drink it through my straw. I had to complain to get a replacement. No big deal, but that was just the start of the frustration. While I waited for my burger and fries, my friend got her meal before me. In fact, she finished her entire meal before mine even arrived! We were in the area for work and happened to stop in since I had this marked down to try. Pretty simple menu to choose from. I wanted to give a few things a try so I went with their Harlem Classic burger (2 smashed patties, cheese, onions, pickles, and special sauce), a Classic fried chicken sandwich (no slaw), french fries, and a lemonade. Burger was really good. They smash the patties thin and let them sit, so they had a really nice crust on them. Pickles, onions, and sauce are on the bottom bun and the cheese is between the two patties, which means good flavor distribution. Chicken was well seasoned, felt like maybe a slight spice, and crispy. It's a decent sized piece, though a little thin in spots, so you can end up with a drier bite here and there. Fries were your standard, tasty shoestring fry. Liked everything, though I think the sandwiches are maybe a little overpriced for what it is. I'd definitely go back. read more

If you compare Harlem Shake with Shake Shack, it's mediocre because Shake Shack uses better meat, and therefore, a better tasting burger and a more expensive burger. However, for the money, Harlem Shake is just okay. I would give a higher star rating if their restaurant was cleaner. Floors are just black and filthy. Dining furniture has oil residue on the chairs and table. I felt like I was dining on someone's oily body broth. Also, I experienced a live band playing right outside in the outdoor seating area, meanwhile, I am seating indoors, and the indoor speakers were playing Top 40 under high volume. I found this spot through an elite perk, and had to go back to try one of their chicken sandwiches! I went with Mama's Fried Chicken Sandwich. It is advertised as having a fried chicken breast patty, fried green tomato, homemade ranch, and mama's hot sauce. The crunch on the chicken was incredible! It was so crispy and flaky. I liked the addition of the fried green tomato! It brought a different feel to a classic chicken sandwich. The strange thing to me was that the ranch was served on the side. I ended up just spreading it on myself, but would have rathered have it be complete when I was given it. I was also hunting for the hot sauce. Maybe they forgot it? Overall, I enjoyed the chicken sandwich. The star was definitely the chicken itself. I would suggest ordering ahead since I had to wait quite a while for my sandwich.
