What an impressive little bakery! I stopped by here after getting brunch in Hampden and had no idea it was was vegan and gluten-free. I spent a solid ten minutes ogling at all the options and the lady working there was very polite and patient with me. There are many unique pastries that were made with ingredients I wouldn't have thought to put together {no-bake "bliss ball" with mango, pumpkin seeds, and coconut = actually quite yummy!} They also had real breakfast items like quiches, tarts, soups and salads. I'll have to come back to try these out. This shop itself was so chic - wooden displays, chalkboard placards, bookshelves with real books? ok, listen up food allergy sufferers! So, after finding out I have a food allergy to pretty much everything (gluten, dairy, most fruits, and more), I always look up any gluten free and/or vegan bakeries on Yelp. While visiting Baltimore, I did the same, and came across this gem! The harmony ladies were super helpful in seeing what I could and could not eat. I was able to get (and demolish shorty after), a thin mint cookie, almond and chocolate cookie, and hot chocolate. Soooo good. Like, I would have those chocolate thin mint cookies delivered home to Florida on a regular basis if I could. This place is probably my favorite place to eat in Baltimore. As a gluten free + vegan, it is often hard to find places that are safe to eat at. However, this is one of them! The GF bagels and vegan cream cheese are amazing. They offer biscuits, flatbreads, tarts, salads, bread, cake, donuts, cookies, etc AND EVERYTHING IS GLUTEN FREE. The owner has a gluten allergy so everything is completely safe. The owners and staff are so friendly and nice, and this is located in Hampden right off the Avenue so it makes for a perfect day wandering around the neighborhood. We love Harmony! read more

My oldest said the samosas were made by a master chef for sure (they were so good!) and my youngest couldn't get over the treats. Such variety and so delicious, all while being vegan and gluten-free! Harmony, I love you like a phat girl loves vegan cakes! I'd heard about this place and made it a point to visit after running an errand in the area during one of my "work from home" days *cough, cough* so it was noon on a Thursday when I ventured in here for "just one treat" the way one would venture into a Walmart for "just one thing." What initially was a goal to try a vegan donut for the first time because a performed feat of purchasing a pizza biscuit, chocolate chip cookie, cinnamon sugar donut AND a spinach and cashew cheese tart. There's no use in dwelling on one thing when everything was DELICIOUS and the fact that my total purchase came to only $14 (with the most expensive item being the $6 tart) made it a total win! I didn't intend to dine in but the friendly cashier enticed me with the offer to warm my pizza bagel up in their toaster oven so it'd be piping hot and tasty. Sure, why not? Speaking of staff, everyone had a smile and warmth about them that seemed to fit the warm feeling you'd expect if you walked into grandma's kitchen waiting for the pastries to finish baking. There is a large beverage selection (including a variety of kombucha blends) but there also are carafes of fresh filtered water available for free. Welcome to the neighborhood, Harmony Bakery! You may have already tasted the goodness from Harmony Bakery if you're a regular visitor at the Waverly Farmers Market or if you tried any of the gluten-free baked goods from Breathe Books Cafe (RIP). The owners formerly owned Puffins in Pikesville. Harmony just opened yesterday, but it already seems to be a hit. Every offering is gluten-free and vegetarian (but not always entirely vegan-- there is cheese in and on some items, so read descriptions carefully). Just on the first day, I saw a wide variety of sweet and savory items. Savory: chickpea salad, quinoa salad, spinach-feta pies, spinach-mushroom pies (with cashew cheese!), mini pizzas (vegan and not), polenta tarts (vegan and not), chipotle hummus and raw crackers, soup of the day. Sweet: ginger molasses cookies, apple-oat crisp, biscuits with strawberry chia seed jam, almond jam cookies, chocolate chip cookies, lemon glazed coconut donuts, chocolate donut (I tried it! yum) , fig cranberry pastries, and a variety of trail mix bars and balls. They also serve fair-trade coffee at a reasonable price, herbal iced teas, and a few natural sodas (Virgils). There is indoor and outdoor seating available. Everything I tried tasted fresh, delicious, and most importantly, didn't weigh me down. I hope they are here to stay...there is more than enough junk food in Hampden. I ordered a Birthday Cake from Harmony Bakery for my Girlfriend's 30th Birthday. When I called to order, the woman on the phone was super helpful in picking the right cake/icing combination. In the end we decided on the carrot cake with maple icing. In the words of my girlfriend it was the "perfect cake combination." The maple icing was not too sweet with just the right amount of maple to compliment the subtle carrot cake flavor. The cake itself is so moist, you forget its vegan and gluten free! I wanted to make this birthday as special as possible, since she couldn't be with family and friends due to the pandemic. In a year that has been dark and troublesome for so many reasons, this cake has been a definite bright spot for the end of 2020. I can't recommend Harmony Bakery more! We hope to make it a birthday tradition for both of us for as long as we live in Baltimore. read more

I loved this place. It was a wonderful experience. I was a first time and it couldn't have been better. I had the spinach tart with cashew cheese. It was a bit saltier than I would have preferred, but overall delicious. I would definitely have it again. The kombucha was peach/pineapple I think. House made, fresh, cold, and crisp. Much better than anything I've had at Mom's Organic Market. My only real struggle was the pumpkin donut. There wasn't enough pumpkin for me, and it ate more like a sponge cake than a donut. However, for a guilt free sweet treat, it was tasty. I will keep this place on my short list for quick and tasty breakfast/brunch. read more

Warning- this place is crunchy AF. I'm from California though, so it felt like home Harmony coffee had so many vegan/gluten free selections, and they were actually tasty. They also cater to basically any allergy or diet restriction. I think this spot is going to be a real staple in the Hampden community. I tried the cupcakes, and they were very moist and flavorful. I was seriously surprised! Customer service was wonderful as well. The environment is work friendly with a couple of small tables around. The only negative thing that I can say about harmony is that they close too early. I wish I could invite friends there, but that would only be feasible if they work in the area and can take a break because harmony closes at five. read more

I met Don and Renee last weekend at the Waverly Market, and was impressed by their steady stream of loyal customers. What impressed us (my wife and I) even more however, was just how amazingly delicious everything was. I am not vegan, vegetarian nor do I eat gluten free. I am a carnivore that makes exceptions for chocolate and fudge and any breading that may be used to deep fry my food. But the brownies my son picked were moist and chocolatey, the pastries contained a flaky crunch and the hot foods looked incredible. So I had to visit their new cafe! I was met immediately with a full selection of all the tarts and sweets I had wanted more of from the weekend, plus much more. There were chocolate cupcakes, cookies, salads, pies and savory tarts. Don, Renee and their crew were not only hard at work, but talking and laughing and loving their work. Kahlil Gibran once wrote, "work is love made visible" and that was definitely true here. Although I took my goods home to enjoy, they retained their freshness and flavor. The chocolate cupcake and the spinach and mushroom tart were truly excellent. This place very much deserves its 5 star review. I used to to turn my nose to gluten free baked goods, but now I can easily say that Harmony Bakery is the best place for vegans in Baltimore. Some of my favorites are the quiche, spinach pie, Samoa bar, almond jam cookie, brownie, cookie sandwich, and crab cake. This place is a jewel. Everything is vegan and gluten free and soooo yummy. I haven't had a bagel this good for 15 years. The space is on the smaller side so you get to see everyone making the goods while you eat which is quite endearing. We ended up buying a bunch more food to take on our trip even though we were only stopping for a quite breakfast bite because it was that tasty Noise level wise: low to medium. There wasn't a tv or loud machines going and the music was at a low level, so while I had to keep my headphones on, I was comfortable. Staff is super friendly and sweet. "Mock" crab cakes (made from hearts of palm) & accompanying aioli sauce was simply DELICIOUS! Couldn't believe how much they tasted like actual crab cakes. Craving those again very soon. Chickpea tart was also VERY good. Bought both cold. Heated one later that day for lunch, and one the next day. Both worked perfectly. Samoa Bar was good, but EXTREMELY sweet...just be prepared. I love everything in it, but it was a even a bit too much for this treat-loving chocoholic. Rosemary Cashew Cookie (made like a biscotti) was VERY dry, but also very good. I heard of this spot after coming across it on a Baltimore eater blog I follow on Instagram. Everything here is gluten free and vegan. You walk in and it feels homey. Food is displayed in a case with listings written in a chalkboard on the wall. The kitchen is literally right in front of you. They have daily specials, which are worth it to consider! I ordered a crab cake Caesar and I was pleasantly surprised that the crab cake tasted similar to the real thing! The Caesar was also delicious made with kale and the perfect amount of dressing. We were here visiting from California, and I really wanted to stop by this bakery before we left to go home. The only time we got to do this was an hour before needing to head to the airport. We ubered over and my heart sank when I saw the closed sign, that they weren't back from vacation until tomorrow. :*( I peeked in the window and saw some people in there (guessing they were preparing for tomorrow). As my fiance was calling uber, I decided to call the bakery (praying they might open the door and have something they could sell us cause, I really wanted to try their goodies!), I think the owner picked up the phone. I told her we were in front of the bakery about to head to the airport to go home and asked if there was anything available we could possibly buy from her. She opened the door with a big smile and we got one of each of whatever she had ready to buy. We got the muffin, brownie, chocolate and Mango balls, and chocolate cookie. I couldn't thank her enough for making it happen! We took a bite of each item as we waited for uber to arrive, omg, it was sooooooo gooooood! One of the best gluten free vegan pastries Ive ever had! Moist, not overly sweet, and the flavor and texture were amazing, you wouldn't know it's GF and vegan (I've tasted others that didn't make it to the second bite lol) I wished I had bought more than one of each! She actually came out to see how we liked them, I was ready to tell her I wanted more but our uber came and it was too late. I am so happy, though, I got to have a taste, and her opening up for us to buy some really made the end of our trip so much more blessed and we are forever grateful for the kind gesture! Sweet or savory, baked or raw, there is something delicious on offer displayed behind sparkling glass. The interior is intimate with a handful of tables and bar-style seating by the window; wrought iron tables flank either side of the entryway for those who wish to dine al fresco. Clean, rustic décor with local artistic flare creates a space that feels cozy and welcoming. The kitchen and prep areas are easily visible so one can watch the folks behind the counter work their magic. A pleasing aroma wafts through the air; a melange of baked goods, spices and coffee grounds. Seeking a quick bite I dropped by Harmony Bakery to find others shared the same idea. The place was bustling with Hampdenfest attendees but I was still able quickly place my order and find a seat by the window. I ordered the Kale Salad. The kale was vibrant and tender, the red cabbage crisp and the "power crunch" topping added additional texture. I found the lemon dressing to be slightly bland and would have preferred more acidity and brightness but a dash of seasoning pulled the dish together. Everything I've had here is delicious. I've been a vegan for years, so I've had a lot of vegan baked goods, and have settled a lot for cookies and cupcakes that I had to like because they were the only option. Harmony is quality. The cakes are moist and have a really nice texture, the icings are sweet but not overly so. Basically, it's a good bakery overall--not "just" a good vegan bakery. I recently had my wedding cake and a ton of cupcakes make by Harmony. They were professional, had everything ready on time, and it cost WAY less than having a cake made by any of the wedding places we looked at. ALL of our guests (even the omnivores!) raved about the cakes and we had no leftovers! I would recommend them to anyone, even for such an important event. I guess the only downside I can think of is that we had to pick up the cake ourselves, but that wasn't really a problem. The price and the deliciousness were well worth it! read more

This place is amazing! My husband and I love coming here as a treat to ourselves. The fact that everything is vegan, gluten-free, and soy free is the best, especially because you cannot find that almost anywhere. I had visted this place a few times and loved it. It is so nice to have a place where people like me with food sensitivities can enjoy. It is a little out of the way but worth it. Unfortunately most recently I requested my birthday cake come from this bakery and my Husband made the order and picked it up the day before my birthday. I was so excited I tried a piece immediately when he arrived. The cake was very pretty however it was so oily yet dry and extremely dense.
