Over the years, I've come intermittently for acupuncture and have also received massages with Brittany. I'll admit, embarrassingly so, that I haven't prioritized self-care as much as I should, especially as a spine patient. Long gaps between visits are on me. Let me start off by saying that I have always had a great of needles and I DID ACUPUNCTURE!! Woo hoo!! I was sooo proud of myself for trying acupuncture and Kim was AMAZING!!! I was soooo incredibly nervous to do this but kim walked me through the entire thing! When I first called the receptionist also helped to explain how the process would go and the Harmony Community Wellness Center did not fall short of incredible for me! So I went in to see Kim needing help with emotional support as well as dealing with a severe bone spur in my foot. When I entered the community room you are surrounded by several other individuals who are receiving treatment and everyone was relaxed, lights turned low, soft music playing and Aromatherapy in the air. One guys was even sleeping hahah and I could hear him snoring in the corner zzzzzzz lol. I sat in a very comfortable chair that you receive your treatment in and you lean back in while receiving your treatment. Kim knew of my fear of needles and show she went very slow first showing me what the needles looked like and discussed with me where she would be placing the needles. She explained the first one she places in the ear helps emotional health and second helps physical health. After she placed all the needles in she put a warm blanket on me and I got to relax and the acupuncture did its magic! Afterwards Kim explained how Aromatherapy sessions build upon each other and gave me great recommendations for my further treatment. They also have tons of natural herbs and essential oils for purchase there too. I also learned about how someone might feel after a treatment called "acupuncture high" due to the release of endorphins. And boy that was true for me!! You very very relaxed and super calm haha! This review is well overdue but better late than never¨ Lars, thank you so much for making my pregnancy and labor so magical! I started to get acupuncture in my third trimester. I wish I thought of it earlier on but man am I happy I went when I did! I started my treatment because of pregnancy related back issues, constipation, shoulder discomfort and hip pain. After the first treatment, I noticed some really positive results. I continued to go 1-2x/week and before I knew it, everything started to heal back to 100%! I haven't seen Lars since about a week before I gave birth but I am happy to announce that I had a 6 hour labor and baby came in 5 minutes with only 5 pushes! This is my first baby you guys... The staff at Harmony is by far the best you can ask for. I went to Lars for acupuncture in 2010-2011 for help. I was in a near fatal auto accident in 2000 and broke 6 bones and had 30 stitches. For years I suffered severe pain in my lower back, hips and neck. Seeing Lars helped relieve so Much of the pain that I became a true believer in Acupuncture. I moved away for several years and tried to find a comparable Acupuncturist and there were none. Now that aim back and my body is much older and back pain is unbearable I started back to see Lars and again my pain is so much less. If you have any doubts, I say just give it a try because pain pills are just a little bandage and Acupuncture is a true cure. read more

I never tried acupuncture before my first visit to HCWC, but I'm very glad I did. My girlfriend found this location online and since I've had a lot of sleeping issues for the last few decades, it seemed like a good idea to try. I was greeted promptly and since I had my paperwork done already it sped up the process. (You can print it up and fill it out before coming in). I got a deal on Yelp so I saved 10 bucks off the first visit which is usually $30.00. I met with Lars next, who was very nice and listened to my issues before starting. Right after that, I was in the chair ready for my first experience. It's very interesting since the room has 6 reclining chairs, meaning there could be 5 other people around you at the same time, and very relaxing music. I know a lot of people aren't sure about sharing a room, but it's not bad since no one one is close enough to touch. The session lasted about an hour and I felt really refreshed afterward. I have been going for a few months now and I've seen a nice change in my sleeping habits which really helps a lot. The payment is sliding scale starting at 20 bucks, which is a great deal. They also offer massage and some classes as well for a good deal, which I haven't taken yet. If you have always wanted to try acupuncture, but didn't know a good place to start, this is definitely the place. read more

Onset of very painful nerve pain in my arm. I wasn't sure what I did or the cause, but after being up all night from it, I knew accupuncture was my best best for the quickest & longest lasting relief that would get to root of the problem. I called a handful of highly Yelp rated places near me in Vista & either got an answering machine or no available appts until much later & I had work looming over me. I expanded my search & found this place in Vista. They answered the phone promptly, we're professional & calming & initially had no appts, but the receptionist was kind enough to double-check & could squeeze me in. I was SOO thankful! I've never done the group accupuncture thing & I've always been slightly hesitant yet also curious. The rooms were VERY relaxing & calm! The room I was in had 4/5 customers in it. They seem to put in & take out people when most patrons have silk eye masks & most are so relaxed they're sleeping, so it's not awkward with a roomful of eyes staring at you. (I must admit, that's how I pictured it.) My chair even had a screen divider, so it felt very private. Kim was my acupuncturist & she was very kind & also knew exactly what she was doing! She did everything to make sure I was comfortable. She offered me an eye mask, blanket & put a heat lamp near my shoulder to help relax me. It all was very soothing. Initial appts are always $40 & after that they are in a sliding scale (usually $25 for most), which makes it very affordable for coming in more frequent if you are suffering from something that needs extra attention. I made an appt to return in few days & she also suggested I come two more times the following week to "take care of this" & get me back to my normally pain-free self. I felt SO much relief from the initial appt. I've done accupuncture in the past & could tell I still needed to go deeper & know I can actually afford to! read more

I started going to harmony community wellness center back in 2011. I was having issues with both my Achilles, the right one tore and to avoid surgery my wife found Lars. I was doing acupuncture 2-3 times a week an hour each session. The treatment helped with the pain and it was probably the best hour sleep I'd ever had. Once I got used to the treatments, within 5 minutes I was sleeping. Lars is very patient and very gentle with the needles, Lars is also an awesome person too. He has also treated my wife and 3 kids. I've experienced a lot of acupuncture in the past, but over the last few years, had fallen out of my routine of getting regular treatment. Over the last few months I began experiencing digestive and gynecological issues that have been getting worse and worse, so I decided it was time to get back into the routine of weekly acupuncture. I wanted to find a practitioner closer to home and fit in my budget, so I made my first appointment with Lars last week. Lars was amazing! I was very impressed with his needling technique, as it was very gentle and comfortable, and I still got that feeling you get when things are shifting around in your body. He was a great listener, and asked additional questions about my symptoms to determine what the imbalance was in my body so he could create the most effective treatment. (TMI alert!!!) The day after my treatment, my cycle started with less pain than the last couple months, and on time for once. I also haven't gotten the usual hormonal migraine, and my digestion feels better. Healing takes time, so I am making the time for weekly treatments to get my body back on track, but it sure is nice to experience some immediate relief! I also wanted to note that the clinic is definitely a hidden gem near downtown Escondido. It is beautiful and serene inside, and the community treatment room is very relaxing and comfortable. If you would prefer a private room, that is available as well. While the private room fees are higher than the communal room, they are still lower than most private acupuncture offices in the area. read more

Fantastic. Acupuncture that is affordable and well done and actually works. I am really happy with this place and I have had acupuncture done by several of the practitioners and they are all amazing. The chairs are comfortable, the room is relaxing and I really do feel like it's helping me more than anything else I've ever tried before. I get chronic migraines and am seeing real results in the frequency and severity of the headaches I get. Okay, so I've been to a couple of acupuncture places. Pros: very affordable. $20~40 sliding scale for an hour of treatment. The treatment is real - my thumb is still pain free. If I kept going, it would probably relieve my back and shoulder pains too. Cons: this group therapy thing - there are 6 reclining chairs with nice towels on them. you take off your socks and shoes (fully dressed) and relax on the chair. Lars will poke you with needles and you just close your eyes listening to relaxing music and... you start noticing other folks' snores, speaking about their personal stories/problems with Lars. Also, I got chilled sitting there for almost one hour. If I didn't have my insurance, I would definitely frequent this place for the price. But, since I do, I'd rather go to another place with a personal room so I can truly RELAX. I like to relax and fall asleep drooling into my donut headrest! Also, I like to be naked and have heating lamp over my body and get the finishing up massage at the end. It's definitely worth a try though. I like its concept - put a bunch of people in one room to reduce the cost.. why not. read more

Very nice place. I love how the first time here, we were greeted with a smile and it felt welcoming. Second time, it felt awkward and I don't know why. Maybe it was because I was using the yelp check-in deal that says $10 acupuncture treatment, but the receptionist put it down as $10 off so I was confuse. Is it $10 acupuncture or $10 off the regular price of $25?? Never bother to ask why because she had that look as if I'm cheap looking. Lol. But anyway, my husband like it. I decided to try acupuncture and found Harmony on yelp. The reviews were mixed so I chose to focus on the positive. My first visit required me to complete paperwork so I thought someone would actually review it. Kim chatted with me in a whisper for about two minutes because we were in the community room, which was not what I expected after sharing information about my health. I told her I was brand new to acupuncture and was not expecting to sit still for an hour in a lawn chair. She seemed empathetic and even suggested that I see Barbara on my next visit to learn more about herbal remedies. I must say that I did feel pretty good about an hour later so I thought I'd give it another try. I returned one week later to see Barbara. I guess Kim forgot to send her the memo that I was interested in herbal solutions, or Barbara forgot, which is what I believed happened. Barbara whispered something and began to just insert the needles. I figured she would chat with me afterwards because the room had four other clients. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Afterwards, she removed all the needles except one and bid me farewell. I reminded her that she forgot the needle in my third eye. She laughed. This wasn't the type of holistic experience I was expecting. Perhaps my expectations were too high, and I should get accustomed to acupuncture in general before seeking services in a community setting. If I do return, I'll go with Kim. read more

Hurt my knee , have been coming to get acupuncture, super friendly staff!

I have previously written a great review, but I'm not sure what happened to it. Lost in cyberspace! Anyhow, my husband and I have been coming to Harmony Wellness for a couple months now for a variety of issues and we can't say enough great things about the entire experience. From the minute you walk in the door, you can feel a sense of calm. Everyone we have encountered is pleasant, professional, and friendly. We have been seen by both Kim and Lars, but generally book with Kim if she is available, just a preference. With every treatment we both see results and look forward to each and every appointment. (If we could go every day, we would.) Kim's demeanor instantly makes us both relax and the one hour treatments seem to fly by. The dimly lit room, music, and white noise of the fan drowns out the rest of the world. The zero gravity chairs provide almost a weightless feeling and for someone with aches and pains, this is glorious! As I tell everyone who will listen, the relief we get from acupuncture is better than any pharmaceutical we've tried. The sliding scale and "community room" are great ways to make acupuncture available and affordable for everyone. My only disappointment is that we didn't try acupuncture sooner! read more

I've been dealing with neck, shoulder, and arm pain, I already went to physical therapy, chiropractor, and massage therapy...nothing has helped much and some of my co workers recommended acupuncture because it helped them. So I searched around Escondido and I found this place because it was cheaper and they were able to see me right away. They were very nice as soon as I walked through the door, but the area they treat you in is communal with 6 reclining chairs, so it felt impersonal and you had to whisper but Kim was nice and made sure I was comfortable and asked about the pain and gave me a blanket and did warn me that different people feel things differently and since I'm ultra sensitive I felt every little pinch and some hurt the nerves so where I started crying but she wiped my tears and was nice the whole time. But the chair hurt my back really bad and I felt no relief after my first trial so I tried a second time because they said you won't feel relief right away you have to add on to it and will feel better over time so I went again two days later and had a man named Lars help me. He was very nice and soft spoken and made sure I was comfortable but this time when he put the needles in, it hurt so bad every where, my whole back was hurting again on the chair and I had to ask him if I could finish earlier because my wrist, back and head was hurting so he took the needles out and told him thank you but this wasn't for me. Later that night the needle that was in my wrist had bruised up to atleast an inch long and my back has been killing me when I sit or walk so needless to say I will never try this place or acupuncture again it just wasnt for me but the other people around seemed to like it and had better experiences. read more

I have been to HCWC many times. Lars and all his staff are wonderful, kind and caring. Lars has also treated my mom for pain when she had fractured vertebrae. Having the acupuncture treatment helped her get thought a very painful time in her life. I have been treated for my anxiety and it has helped me so much that it has changed my life! No more Ativan, I am able to go without any medication now. I also brought a friend here for smoking, he was treated three times and has not smoked in over two years now.
