4 times. 4 times I had to take off from work for a SIMPLE stovetop repair. What a sham. First he came to evaluate what was wrong with my glasstop- i told him it was the switch. Very condescendingly he told me no it's not, its the burner. I was like ok... wel thats an easier fix so whatever, do your thing. He tells me no hes got to order the parts. I stood in disbelief. They have them at Lowe's, he could easily go get them, and I found it hard to believe an appliance repair man didn't have a stash in his truck. So this means I have to restructure my work schedule and get permission to work remotely. I absolutely do not let people in my home when I'm not there. We make the appointment for two weeks later, he comes back does his thing. I'm on the phone with work when he's ready to leave and he signals that its fixed. I can't stop what I'm doing, dumb me I trust that its fixed. Now mind you, he claims me this is a burner, something anyone can fix (but because I'm a renter I'm not allowed to) so you pop it in, check for power and heat. Done. HE NEVER CHECKED TO SEE IF IT WAS WORKING. That night when I went to make dinner, the burner was non-functional. I call Monday morning and explain my upset to Bonnie she schedules me for a follow up. I restructure my work schedule A THIRD TIME (this could literally get me fired if I don't use caution here.) The technician comes back and acts like he has no memory of the two previous encounters and turns on the right front burner and with some sass is like "it works, I don't see what the problem is.) Wrong burner, asshole. Then he "revaluates" the left front burner, tells me he has to order the parts (plural?!?). He didn't bring anything with him. I need to make a fourth fucking appointment. At this point, I'm about to freak out on my landlord and tell them they're being scammed by these people, either that or this man has some serious cognitive issues and needs to retire. I call Harold's speak to Bonnie and I am polite but very angry. She's debating be about my right to be angry. I almost snapped. I was like hang on... let me recount the sequence of events, which I did, including that on the very first interaction I mentioned that I believed the switch was bad and needed replacement. All I got was debate, no apologies. Bad business. After a FOURTH appointment, its finally fixed. FOUR TIMES I had to go to my boss and ask for mercy and tap into his trust. NOT COOL. I can't imagine how much Harold's finagled my landlord for. I expended to much energy into this whole entire thing. I did not have a fully functioning stove during canning season, a bunch of hassle, and these people a incompetent. So no, I do not recommend. read more

Once again, completely satisfied with Harold's. My cooktop needed repair (one burner wouldn't ignite). They confirmed the appointment by email, and told me advance the cost of the service call. On the day of the appointment the technician called to let me know he was on his way. He arrived ahead of the appointment time and wearing a mask. He removed his shoes without my asking. Assessed and fixed the problem in about 10 minutes. Explained what the issue was. Charged me just for the service call. Was friendly and polite. Highly recommend! read more

After canceling twice Harold's made it right. While I was frustrated before I couldn't have asked for a better outcome. Great job!

Our gas dryer stopped heating so I looked for an appliance repair shop. I couldn't find many reviews so I winged it and trusted that Harold's Appliance Service would do good work. I noticed there were some real old bad reviews and some newer great reviews. I suspected the business had undergone a change in ownership. I called for service and the receptionist was friendly and helpful. She said she would call me back with an appointment. She did and gave us a 2 hour window - 12-2pm the next day. The repairman, Shawn, came about 1:30, diagnosed the problem and told us he needed parts. He returned in a couple of hours and fixed our dryer, vacuumed around it and cleaned up his work area. Additionally, he thought a slight squeak coming from the dryer was due to rollers, which he replaced, however, it didn't fix the squeak which didn't bother us, so he did not charge us for that. Free BONUS! He did fix the igniter which kept the dryer from firing up and heating. Viola! Dryer fixed. We were happy with the fix and the price was considered normal to us so we highly recommend Harold's Appliance service. Also, we asked Shawn, whom we found out was the owner, about change in business ownership and he is the new owner. We were very pleased with the service. read more

The lights in my refrigerator went off as did the motor mid afternoon. I was quite upset as I had just filled it with groceries. I called Harold's and understanding my situation they went to great lengths to get someone out to my house that day. It turned out a breaker had tripped, which was a relief. The service person checked my refrigerator out and was very professional and knowledgeable. The office staff were terrific. I am very grateful. read more

No Stars! First impression was not a good one & Harold's will not get another chance. I called & informed them I had two dryers out in my duplex. Their initial service call is $90 for the first dryer then there is an "add on" fee of $50 to look at the second. I asked what the hell is the add on fee? Unfortunately they did not for-warn me when I made the appointment that there would be an add on fee of $50 nor did the service guy tell me until after he looked at the second dryer. He then presented me with two separate invoices. This is a single service call for two dryers. (Last company I used was $69 service call which covered the first hour +parts) The service guy could not explain the fee. The first $90 dryer just had lint clogging the vent. The second dryer needed belt which the was going to charge $116 for in addition to the $50 add on fee. I told him I would replace the belt myself & paid the $140 for to pull a wad of lint out of my dryer vent. I paid the price for being to busy enjoying my summer to fix it myself. To bad the last repair guy I used retired. I could trust him. Harold's was a bad deal. Follow up: I called Harold's after writing this to express my frustration. The lady on the phone said she would get back to me regarding adjusting the bill for which I was appreciative at the time..... Guess what? No Response. Another update: After placing another call in regards to her not getting back to me someone eventually called me back and offered to give me $50 back. In all fairness I said that I might possibly use them again some other day but definitely not if I have two appliances to look at as the ad on fee is absolutely absurd in my opinion. According to Harold's they told me it's an industry standard to tack on a separate add on fee for a second appliance. I still think it's pretty shady not to disclose that up front when I stated I have two dryers in a duplex that need to be repaired. Had I only had one dryer to look at I may have not been upset at all. To add insult to injury in the dryer I was charged $90 to remove wad of lint was still not functioning properly. My tenant notified me that when she returned from vacation it still took her two cycles to dry a load of clothes. So although I got $50 back absolutely nothing was repaired for the initial $90 I spent and I ended up buying two dryers from a guy in Palmer at $100 each so I could be done with this headache. read more

I was very disappointed that I was told I could bring in my temp probe to have a meter put on it to test the ohms and to be here by 8am, I'm here and basically told he won't test it!!!! What crap, it takes all of 2 seconds and he's like nope won't do it. read more

Maybe these guys are good at other more traditional type repairs, but don't call them if you have a vent hood problem. After reviewing Harold's website to confirm that they do work on kitchen hoods, I decided to give them a call based on their considerably good reviews. Upon speaking with the person I reached on the phone, I expressed that I had a malfunctioning kitchen vent hood that wasn't drawing air away from the range. I made an appointment and met with the technician a few days later. The guy poked around the vent hood and concurred with what I already obviously knew, the motor was not drawing any air. The technician suggested that maybe the vent was occluded or disconnected, or maybe the motor was on the roof and could be faulty. I offered to take the technician to the flat roof, which was accessible from within the house and didn't require putting up any ladders. He essentially said that he doesn't go onto roofs. So I went up on the roof, identified the motor and the vent, and confirmed that the motor was functioning. I returned to the kitchen and told the guy what I found. He reiterated that there must be either a blockage or disconnect in the vent pipe. He then says there's not really anything he can do. So basically, I called this guy out to my place to make a diagnosis that I easily could have made myself. My expectation was that a company that states they repair kitchen vent hoods would anticipate that a common problem with a vent hood is occluded or disconnected venting, and furthermore, have the means to fix the problem. The guy was basically unwilling to attempt any mitigation of the problem, he wouldn't even come to the roof to look at the motor, and again, he gave me a diagnosis that I easily could have figured out myself. I payed him the $90 call out charge. Then I went back to the drawing board. I hope next time the company receives a call regarding a kitchen vent hood, rather than just stating "yes we do that," they might ask a few questions and determine it might be better to recommend an HVAC company.
