I had a great time during my Friday night visit to Harold's Chicken & Ice Bar on Edgewood before they temporarily closed for renovations. Our group of five found parking right across the street for $20, which made getting to the restaurant super convenient. Security at the door was checking bags and patting down men, which made me feel extra safe while dining--definitely a plus in a busy nightlife area. Once inside, we easily found our friends on the back patio, which turned out to be the perfect spot. The music and DJ were a whole vibe, but I'm glad we sat outside because the music inside was blasting--great for a party atmosphere but not ideal for conversation. Now for the food & drinks: Around the table we all tried the Shrimp & Chicken Baskets with fresh crinkle fries - Fresh, crispy, and seasoned just right! Definitely the highlight of the night. The cocktails - Not my favorite, but they were strong, so if that's your thing, you'll be good! The chicken tasted exactly like another regular fast food restaurant's recipe, so the price did not make any sense, and my request for lemon pepper was ignored. I paid for a drink with my meal, but NEVER received it because the nice cashier admitted she forgot to make it when I called later for a refund (wasted $3). I went here with friends after the Mardi Gras crawl for a decent meal. When we walked in, the entire establishment was packed and the music was playing. We ended up sitting out back on the patio which wasn't the best as it was cold and the heat lamps weren't working that well (after they turned them on). The atmosphere was lively and it was just a nice place to settle in for lunch. Now, I'm no expert when it comes to the city of Atlanta but I guess the area isn't located in the best place. My Uber driver looked a little concerned when he dropped me off, and asked me if I liked this area lol. I come in DURING LUNCHTIME, me and my wife stood at the register for about 10 minutes with no one greeting or speaking to us.
