I don't recommend the fried spicy tuna app, it was very small and wasn't very flavorful. The off menu sliders were tasty, the wings were good, clams were fresh, scallops were fresh but large and chewy, fra diavlo was very spicy. Haven't been there in years. This place was always a favorite. I found it dirty and very disappointing. The crab cakes that were served were burned. Tasted terrible. Waitress didn't even come by the table to even notice they weren't being eaten. At the end of the meal, when asked if we wanted the crab cakes wrapped to take home, the reply was "no thanks." (trying not to be THAT customer) The waitress asked if we didn't like them, the reply was, "well, they were burned and didn't taste good." There was no offer to remove them from the bill. It was VERY obvious they weren't any good! Poor judgement on the waitress if you ask me. The chicken dish I had was cooked in a white wine sauce served with garlic mashed potatoes. The one small chicken cutlet was served OVER the mashed potatoes which ruined the meal. Personally I think that gravy goes on mashed potatoes, not a white wine sauce. If you wanted a salad with your dinner, it was a la carte. This is not a fancy restaurant folks, come on.... This was always great "bar food" and nothing more. Definitely won't return. read more

You lost my business after your hostess spoke to me over the phone. I called asking for availability for the evening and the response I got was breathtaking rude. The young woman first stated, without answering my question, that they take reservations not call ahead seating. I asked if I could make a reservation for later in the evening and she stated with no explanation that they only take reservations not call ahead seating. Her tone was annoyed and very rude. I had to ask her for clarification as to the difference and she said reservations were made days in advance, not the night of. ...anyway, finally I asked if she had seats for dinner and she said they had a few but they would probably be gone soon. Because of her, we went to River Watch and had a lovely dinner spending $157. Perhaps management should consider your first point of contact with your customer and do some training or firing. read more

Recommended by family so I went there with the wife. Her steamed lobster was drowning in water on her plate leaving her sides dead on arrival. You don't serve that! The taste was not worth the price tag. My beef was well done twice over on a medium/ medium rare request. It was not good at all. Service was slightly subpar. Just not much good to write about here. My wife, mother in law and I were there on 8/1/2014 at about 6pm. It was VERY packed, and NOISY. The acoustics are TERRIBLE! We could not hear each other AT ALL. The decibels were off the scale. People at the bar were yelling at each other to be heard., We sat at a table by the windows by the bar. The ceiling is low there, about 7' ish. I asked someone else there (outside of course, it was way too noisy inside to have a conversation of any kind, unless you're right in someone's face shouting) about the tables by the fireplace where there is a higher vaulted ceiling. He said, no it's just as noisy there too. My ears were ringing when we left. I will never go there again. Who cares about the food or anything else if the VOLUME is such that you can't have a conversation with the person across the table. Don't go. It was horrible. read more

Harpoon Willys is a great place if you wanna go to a casual bar and be totally ignored by the bartenders. Went in there the night of the Nor'easter. Needless to say bar was hardly packed. Maybe 20 patrons. But there were 3 bartenders on duty, a cook, and a food runner behind the bar. My wife and I sat at the bar and ofter about, ohhhhhh I'd say a good ten minutes this blonde female bartender finally made her way to us to take our drink order. We ordered 2 wines which it took her 3 trips to bring us cause 2 of the bottles didn't have enough wine in them to make even 1 glass. She finally figured it out and opened a new bottle. We asked for menus which she promptly gave us and that was the last we saw of not only her but ANY of the bartenders. After about 20 minutes of sitting there with our menus closed and watching the blonde bartender speak to 4 people at other end of bar who were obviously friends of hers, then going over to count the money in the tip jar (really unprofessional), then whispering in Pat the other bartenders ear then go back to her 4 friends, we decided this was enough and got up and left. Now let me be clear here. As she was socializing, and counting money the other 2 bartenders on duty walked by us sitting there with our closed menus as if we were a mirage. It's common knowledge that the service at this bar truly sucks, but this was ridiculous. I have been in there many times when the bar was packed and Holly was on duty and she was attentive and efficient. Not the crew that was on last night! Anyway, I did go over and tell the manager what transpired and why I was leaving. he apologized and said he would take care of it. What exactly that meant, I have no idea. At any rate my wife and I drove to Tuscany on route 88. The bar was full and we took the last of the 5 high-top tables by the bar. The bartender there not only had the entire bar but also the 5 high-top tables. BY HERSELF! She came right up to us, took our drink order, brought them back to us then took our food order. Served our food. She even found a way to come back to our table twice and ask us if all was ok or if we needed anything. Amazing huh? Well, needless to say I won't be going back to Harpoon Willys again. But let me say one last thing. If you take a table at Harpoon Willys the service is very good. It's just the bartenders who have usually a full bar every night and make bank every shift that got complacent. May be time for some new blood back there. And Holly of course. read more

This place is okay. It is REALLY noisy. It's nice that they have a grill literally at the bar. The food here is usually always pretty good. The food took a REALLY long time, over an hour to get to us. But, the owner did the right thing and came over and gave us 50% off our whole bill. That was really nice. Just got back from Harpoon Willys..We've been patrons since the previous owners had Harpoons. Love the food, but don't think we can't stand waiting an hour and ten minutes for a table any more ((bad enough we were quoted 45) and another 40 minutes for food. The service was horrible. Because we waited so long we knew what we wanted to eat. So when our waitress came to the table, finally, we gave her our dinner order with our drinks. She didn't come back to check on us for almost a half hour to tell us there were three orders ahead of ours in the kitchen. She offered to get us some cole slaw?!?!! Then a huge storm passed over and the window my husband was sitting next to started to leak, soaking his phone! We were actually tempted to put $10.00 on the table for his drink ( I had water) and leave, debating if it would be worse to dodge lightning bolts or wait for dinner. It would have been fine hanging out for the rest of the evening but we couldn't have a conversation because the noise is deafening. Although I'll miss my tuna rolls and lobster salad terribly, I think we'll be taking a long well-deserved break. read more

Second time here for lunch & I must say from a former bartender/manager that the service was horrific!! Sat @ the bar both times & maybe it's just just me, but I expect a "hello" or "hi, how are you?". Instead I got "what can I get you?" With no smile or pleasure to see a new customer. (Isn't that where you make your $$?) That was the beginning of a bad experience. Next was taking my food order from the her standing @ the computer so I had to be a little loud w my order, instead of either remembering it or writing it down, then no one checking on how my soup was or my lunch. Had to ask for a to-go box & check. Both were dropped off with no wierd, not a "thank you" or " have a nice day". Even the lady next to me, who had 2 other guests, leaned into me & said, "this bartender stinks!" She went into why & I totally agreed. One thing she mentioned was that all shed was skiing was talking & not paying attention to the bar. I know from working in the industry for 20+ years that you can make a lot of $$ by being personable, friendly & attentive or you can do what this bartender did & get left little to no $$ for being the complete opposite. The bar staff was obviously trained well in customer service. We were greeted by everyone behind the bar with friendly smiles. We felt welcomed immediately. Beer was cold and wine served in an oversized glass (which I loved). We were entertained just watching the grill master at work. Such passion and care went into each dish he created. I ordered the baked seafood and my husband ordered the tacos...both dishes were delicious. The atmosphere was rustic with a beautiful view of the river but the building itself is old...ceiling actually started leaking right next to us but Staff handled the situation immediately and professionally. All of us are travelers and foodies before you knew what that meant ;) So o course we think we have had some of the top wait staff. We went as a family on a Saturday for a birthday celebration, my daughter's favorite place to go before moving to Baltimore. We made a reservation and were seated immediately. Currently decorated for the holiday season with a nice fire on display. Service was excellent and food was outstanding. We live locally and enjoy Harpoon Willy's for "comfort food", something for everyone from apps, sandwiches, burgers and special entrees. The bar area is fun for the sports enthusiast. It started off pretty good. We had a reservation for 11 people and we ordered some appetizers and salads that came out within a reasonable time. They tasted fine. After we were done our apps, we waited an hour and a half for our entrees to arrive. They all didn't even come out at the same time. 3 came out at once and then, no joke, 2 more came out 15 minutes later. Another 10 mins passed and 2 more came out. Finally, after 30 mins of one by one coming, we all received our entrees. Some of us were done by the time everyone had gotten theirs. To top it off, three of our meals were UNDERCOOKED. I have no idea how that happened considering it took over an hour and a half. We were in the restaurant for over 2.5 hrs. The manager came over and said she didn't even know we were waiting that long and took care of the bill. Was probably the best free meal I've had, but service was awful. read more

My family and I visited this restaurant on a Friday night. We waited 35 minutes for a table, which is expected because we didn't make reservations. The staff seemed to be rotating the tables very well. The atmosphere (decor and being by the water) is really neat; however, it is extremely loud. The food was decent, but over priced for the extremely loud/ bar type restaurant. Also, it was busy, but the food took a good while to come out. We sat in a side room to the right of the bar. It has a big screen TV in it , a fireplace and would imagine it would be excellent for small parties. If I ever had an event to plan I would definitely choose this place. Food was great, service was also, the decor is cozy, didn't notice the noise, we had a great time. We frequent HW pretty often, but last night, chef Tom behind the bar made 2 of the best burgers for us. Highly recommend it, and give Tom some props, he makes a great burger and the presentation (even for a burger) was incredible! read more
