got the worst egg sandwich I've ever had there. it was just scrambled egg patty (probably microwaved) on a really shitty and dry "hard roll". the ham on the egg sandwich was plain cold deli meat ham that wasn't even tossed on a griddle to warm it up. We were driving to Sayulita for a late lunch on Saturday when we drove by Harpo's Bakery. We gave each other a knowing look and silently agreed we'd swing by after lunch. They close at 3:00 on Saturday and we walked in pretty close to that time. The cookie case on the left was still full, the pastry shelves were empty as the goods had been taken to the back, but we did see some cakes out on the right side of the store. The young lady that helped us was great -she said that they had a lot in the back, so what where we looking for? We asked for a chocolate croissant and a cinnamon bun, and while she was packaging them up, we spied a great looking mini loaf of chocolate chip banana bread that became art of our order. The cinnamon bun was great -super fresh, super moist with a great sweet cinnamon filling and vanilla icing on top. The croissant wasn't as good -it tasted stale and we were disappointed. The chocolate chip banana bread was fantastic -super fresh, super moist, bursting with banana flavor and lots of yummy chocolate chips. So asides for that clunker of a croissant, we were very happy with our other two purchases, and the sweet young lady that helpedus. read more

Finally stopped in to this little gem of a bakery in South Glastonbury and I wasn't disappointed. Harpo's has been in town for about 29 years. They have all sorts of baked goods and then they also offer breakfast sandwiches and and lunch sandwiches. We decided to grab a stuffed baked bread for later that's filled with Irish bangers, sauerkraut, potatoes & cheese. A slice of pizza- hubby scarfed it down so sorry no picture, 2 pistachio squares & a couple Western Breakfast sandwiches with Sausage and cheese on the softest bun ever. Everything we have eaten so far was extremely fresh and tasty. Can't wait to stop in for another visit and you should to. Let's support or small family businesses so that can survive these trying times. read more

So so good! We've enjoyed some of the baked goods from Harpo's and I can't wait to try more of their items. We picked out a bunch of muffins/donuts/pastries for an outing and everything was delicious and fresh. Staff is friendly and prices are reasonable. read more

I'll start out with the good, the work staff are so sweet and kind. It took 20 mins for 2 bagel sandwiches, which were actually water rolls. While waiting , I was able to look around at the lack of cleaning over the years, sticky dust on top of almost everything. Donuts were dry and tasteless. Everything bagel had fennel on it, overpowering all flavors. Would not reccomend. read more

I always admire the local restaurants. And what else can bring more coziness than a local coffee store. It's almost illegal for a town to not to have a local coffee house. Glastonbury has many. But If you're in South glastonbury, then harpos is not a one you can miss. There's always a line, especially on weekends. Coffee is good enough. They are more known for their bakes. Muffins, turnovers and Breads. I wish they recognize me as a local, after all isn't it why you visit a local restaurant. read more

It was awful. Ordered a carrot cake. The cake itself tasted like nothing. The frosting was 'supposed' to be cream cheese, not sure what they used, but it was like eating sugar whipped. Felt so bad for my daughter since this was for her birthday. Never again :( read more

Stop here frequently in the morning for coffee. They are super nice here and have a reward/ punch card for a free cup which is a nice bonus. Slowly but surely eating my way through their selection of pastries. They have good muffins, doughnuts, cookies. In the morning they always have a 2 for one selection right behind the counter with some goods from the day prior which is a good way to try something you normally may not have. Parking here is kind of hard, not sure why they don't move their truck out front to open up a spot but you can still always find parking. They open up early 5AM I believe so you can swing by before work. I think they even do lunch sandwiches but I haven't tried them yet. Great family bakery in the area for over 26 years! read more

Driven by Harpo's Bakery a million times (a majority of yelp reviews start like this) and was always intrigued to stop in. But they have a tiny parking lot and are just two doors down from a crazy intersection with a lot of traffic and blind spots (it's on a hill) that I always bypassed this place due to it's location. Apparently you can park in the bank parking just one door down next door and walk over (not in the winter with huge snow banks). I parked in their tiny parking lot and walked in to find a cute homey little bakery/cafe vibe. I ordered a few muffins which were normal size and not super sized. The zucchini muffin I tried was delicious. Got two corn muffins for friends I promised muffins to. Also grabbed an iced green tea that was flavorful without tasting like boiled potpourri (some of those green teas are really too strong). Staff was pleasant. They offer delicious looking pastries as well as lunch and breakfast sandwiches. I may have to stop here again purely because I love to support small businesses. They have been at this location for 20 years according to the staff person I spoke with. Really cute place. Be careful exiting the parking lot. Harpo's homemade pies are actually life-changing. Perfect ratio of sweet fruit filling and thick buttery crust. Highly recommend the fruit of the forest pie and the apple pie! read more

this is one of those 'drove by it a million times' places that i never stopped into until one slow driving day i remembered to check to see if they were open before we had already driven by .. its a busy part of the road so getting in and out is a bit treacherous if you have to cross traffic and they don't have a ton of parking spaces .. but the baked goods we tried were all good,some cookies and pastries - a decent muffin too that tasted better than it looked. I had this big elephant ear pastry that was super crispy and cinnamony. kinda weird that its a bakery that has hot dogs, but i guess if there is a need for hot dogs and they can fill the niche its a good thing. some of the cookies looked a little generic for me (like they bought them at a supermarket and just put them on a tray) .. read more

I've driven by Harpo's in South Glastonbury a zillion times, yet never stopped in. I changed that this morning when I stopped in to grab a muffin. It's a cute bakery located in the heart of S. Glastonbury, with muffins, pastries, bread, pizza, breakfast sandwiches, lunch sandwiches, soup, and more! The service was prompt and friendly and I was on my way in no time. They seem to offer seasonal flavors (lots of pumpkin and apple flavors in the fall) which is nice for variety. read more

Went in to be treated by young unfriendly staff. Nothing looked fresh. When asked when he easter bread was made, she snared, "I don't know". No exactly what you want to hear when you are paying $5.50 for bread with NO RECEIPT. Wonder how many books they keep! When I presented a coupon for a free loaf if bread, she said they had none, to come backs other day! Is she kidding! I never went to a bakery that didn't have bread to sell. So this leads me to believe their coupons are worthless and nothing more than a trick to get you to drive down to South Glastonbury to purchase their other products. Harpo's is a neat little "mom & pop" bakery that sells breads, muffins, cakes, pies, pastries, cookies, pizza, breakfast & lunch sandwiches, etc. We stop in often, and always leave happy. Minus 1 star because some of their items look like a little kid made them (but they still taste delicious)! read more

Walked in, thought it'd be a decent bakery in a nice part of town. Was greeted by a couple 12 year olds. There was no adult there. They over charged me by double for my order. When I addressed it to her, she coped an attitude and insisted she was right. Then tried to show me on the calculator but couldn't figure it out. I then showed her the math and she was not very happy with me and was too immature to admit her error. She just stopped talking to me. It was very uncomfortable. To boot the place was dirty. A friend had recommended Harpo's a while back so I called them when we were packing for a Florida/cruise vacation and I needed cupcakes to send in for my daughter's birthday at school. They were so easy to order from, very obliging as I didn't give them much time to prepare the cupcakes, inexpensive, and the cupcakes were delicious! I absolutely recommend them and use them now as my go- to bakery. read more

Very helpful and friendly staff. Everything looked wonderful. We ordered a variety of donuts and bagels. The bagels were straight out of the oven and delicious Connecticut bagels. The donuts were quite tasty. We highly recommend this place, good bakeries are hard to find. read more
