You guys have the best sub rolls in your bakery area. I'll even get out of my way to go to your store to buy steak and chicken just so I can get one of these rolls and make a Philly cheesesteak or chicken cheesesteak and Lynn in the bakery is so pleasant in the guy in the deli today was Tuesday, June 16 around 2 o'clock. We rate HT as the #3 regular grocery store behind FOOD LION and Publix. We use it sparingly when it is convenient for a pop in shopping list as it is nearest our house. Service is very good. Store is clean. We like Boars Head products which is a "plus" for HT. We find HT to be expensive and lacking in stocking the shelves. They also need to improve their game in freshly baked breads as they are not in the same league as Publix or Wegmans. read more

Lovely Village District location and very nice service. They went through a bit of a renovation recently and though this is a mid-sized HT, it does include a hot bar and soup & salad bar with nice selections, as well as a fresh pizza station and a chef's station up front. And sshhh, secret: It is also one of our favorite Starbucks. Far more consistent than corporate locales lately. The baristas are always bright and cheerful, they've never once been out of anything, and they always get our orders correct. Avoid grocery if possible on weekends. Parking and aggressive driving in the lot can be a comically stressful. Also, if you are waiting in line at the register and someone offers to check you out in self checkout, decline politely. LOL. They will not actually help before getting pulled away, and you'll end up bagging and checking out yourself and will have lost your place in the other line. read more

Snack time, I stopped in to this Teeter for some things to have in the hotel room. As I have come to expect from the Harris Teeter chain, the store is brightly lit and well stocked. They are doing some construction and remodeling right now (August 2019) so it's not perfect but the store is still completely functional. Produce, deli, frozen, fresh meats, seafood and dairy. All perfectly stocked with prices clearly displayed. They're a bit more expensive than others because it's a better shopping experience. The parking lot could use a redesign but with the road where it is, they're kind of stuck. Just keep an eye out for the idiots cutting through and not watching. Your neighborhood store now has armed security who informs you that you have a 45 minute time limit. Just examine your sub. Better yet, go somewhere else. So a few days before I pick my prescription my wallet is stolen. I go pick up my script an I can only get half of it. Must have ID to get other!?!?!?! Been going there a few years now. Whenever out of state visitors check out Harris Teeter, they're always surprised at the name. Yeah, yeah, it's rough having a name that sounds like a body part! But who cares, Harris Teeter is the best grocery store in NC until Wegmans or Publix shows up. The Cameron Village location is one of the busier ones I've been to since there aren't many ITB. And you get all types here: office workers, young professionals, State kids and the occasional tottering grandma! So I agree with Brian, it's always good for people-watching. Update: Sunday afternoon/evening seems to be a great time to visit if you're a hetero male... The layout is standard supermarket, all the veggies, dairy and frozen round the edges and the dry staples in the middle. This location has a nice cheese section and prepared foods section. Can't beat a rotisserie chicken for $4.99 and there's even a sushi bar! The produce section is pretty deep and typically has some good local offerings. There's even a nice wine section, though I can't vouch for the prices. Cashiers are well-trained and professional, Harris Teeter always does a nice service-wise. And the 8 self-checkout registers are pretty simple to use. There's even a balloon corral up front if you'd like to treat junior for behaving himself on your visit to the supermarket. At home I get regular emails (e-Vic) from Harris Teeter that notifiy me on the latest sale and items that might be of interest, very nice! Great new look, but I'm not used to the layout. I don't come here often as the prices seem outrageous. They do carry hard to find items. But not popcorn kernels unless they were out. And like usual they were sold out of stuff that is sale priced. My cashier did not ask for my VIC card and I was distracted and did not give it to her, since I was bagging my own groceries. Under COVID 19 procedures if you bring your own bags you have to bag your own groceries. Thankfully no line at customer service and I got cash back for presenting my VIC card--saved me over 10%. read more

I was extremely excited to find that they have breakfast sandwiches and burritos each morning because they rank very high on my list of favorite foods. I stopped by this morning to try out the burrito -- oh man, did it disappoint! You order from the deli counter where they make the subs, and you can get bacon, sausage, or chicken. I chose a bacon burrito, which also comes with egg and cheese. You get to select which tortilla (flour, wheat, or spinach) as well as which cheese (American, provolone, or a couple other options) you'd like. The bacon and egg are both precooked, understandably, but the egg was frozen from the start. Sure, I don't expect some freshly-cracked egg, but it was still cold when I got my burrito -- ew. Worse, it was not distributed in the burrito at all (imagine a pre-cooked egg circle, cold, placed on one end of a tortilla, then rolled up). The bacon tasted pretty good and the cheese was better quality than you'd expect in a breakfast burrito. I enjoyed those parts of it. Beyond the egg issues, though, the big problem was the lack of filling compared to the size of the tortilla. It was a large, wrap-sized tortilla filled with just a couple small slices of bacon, a little bit of cheese, and that single egg disk. So when eating it, not only was it half cold, but it was nearly all tortilla. I love the taste of tortilla, but at a certain point the burrito was just difficult to eat. I'd be open to trying the breakfast sandwich, but I definitely won't ever order the burrito again. Plus HT is still solid as a grocery store, hence the 3 star rating. read more

I've been patronizing this Harris-Teeter location in Cameron Village for as long as it's been here. Today's experience, however, ensured that I won't be back. I've been hearing & reading (on Nextdoor) a lot of negative comments about this location; many people have been complaining that the Management and staff haven't been taking the COVID-19 pandemic seriously--that there aren't any disinfecting wipes, the carts aren't clean, and that the staff members don't wear masks (or, if they do, they don't wear them properly). Since it was early morning, I hoped that the store wouldn't be crowded and it wasn't. Most of the staff and customers had surgical (paper) masks on. When I noticed 2 workers with their noses completely uncovered, I politely said something to them & let them know that, by keeping their noses uncovered, they were not protecting others. The first woman said, "My nose isn't uncovered. My mask is just down a little." I could see her nostrils so it was obviously far down enough. The second woman, who was working near the cash registers, rolled her eyes at me & stormed off....that tells me that either these employees know that they're doing something wrong or they haven't been educated on how COVID-19 is transmitted (& that people who are asymptomatic can spread the virus). I spoke with the Manager, John ______, and expressed my concerns. I told him about the complaints that I'd heard and what I'd been reading on Nextdoor, but he didn't seem concerned about it, at all. If the Harris-Teeter management isn't concerned about the safety of their customers and educating their staff, I'll do my shopping at Wegman's or Trader Joe's. read more

This place has been chaos for months and they just don't care. When you ask someone where something is (today), they just shrug and smile. They have no idea. It took three people to find saran wrap. Also, there are no cold cuts at this location. You read that right. No ham, no turkey, no salami, no bologna. When I asked someone where the cold cut section moved to, they said they took it down because there wasn't enough room. This is a supermarket that doesn't sell cold cuts. They just deleted an entire category of groceries. When I told the manager they should consider putting signs in aisles where certain foods used to be, indicating where they are now, she literally laughed in my face. I've given tens of thousands of dollars to this store and I do not appreciate the way they treat their customers. I'd sooner buy my groceries at a gas station than ever go here again. read more

I never enjoy going to this Harris Teeter; the parking lot is always chaotic (unless you go in the dead of night), their produce always looks like it's a day before it goes bad, the exact same stuff is double the price than Food Lion (or even Kroger when it was around, why get rid of Kroger and keep HT?), and half the employees blatantly don't care about their job. I once asked a cashier if they were having a good day, they responded aggressively with why?! do I look like I'm having a bad day?! (Never caught her name but now I don't make small talk) Last night my husband went and when he came home he realized they bagged his soda bottles and never put them in his cart. He said the cashiers were busy talking to each other and partially paying attention to bagging. Harris Teeter is the worst, go to Food Lion. Better yet, bring back Kroger. read more

They just recently went through a nice renovation which helped this place quite a bit. But, some core issues remain. This store is pricey. If you join their rewards program and watch for coupons, you can make it work in a budget, but things can be dramatically cheaper at other grocery stores. The people that work here are not particularly knowledgeable about the store. Occasionally someone will know where something is, though don't expect to be able to find someone to help you locate a super obscure item. I wish I could see her name tag but she was a brunette woman and I would not go there again simply to not have to deal with her again. This is the primary grocery store for the yopros of downtown Raleigh, and it is almost always pretty crowded with young healthy good looking people. It has quality products better than food lion and cheaper than Whole Foods or Lowe's. The renovations are nearing completion and the inside layout does make more sense. That being said the parking lot is still a nightmare. read more

I love Harris Teeter, it's the only grocery store I shop at. Although I love it, the parking at the Cameron Village store is a headache majority of the time. This morning, I was wondering why so many cars were circling around since inside the store seemed fairly empty. Then, I observed 3 different groups of people park and walk from the Harris Teeter parking lot over to Tupelo Honey. So, that's why the parking lot is always so crowded. I had been familiar with the "teet" since I was born and it had always been a primary goal of mine, as a male, to one day get back to it. On an exploration trip into Raleigh about 18 months ago, we hit up the flagship places like The Pit and J. Betski's for dinner but the experience that made my decision easier to call the dirty south home was a tour around the aisles of Harris Teeter. On average, prices were approximately 30-40% cheaper than what I was accustomed to in NYC and to someone with a Jewish family, getting the cheapest deal at the best price is exactly the types of conversation that dominate dinner table chatter at holiday season. The last time I saw my brother after not seeing him for 4 months, the first thing he told me was how he saved $200 on a dryer from its sale price. He was super proud of this, for him I think it overtook beating the new Zelda game on 3DS as his greatest accomplishment over the past 12 months. My mom will tell me about her steals at the dollar store and our house isn't the same unless every time I come home to NY there isn't another 5 tchotchke's picked up at a garage sale that we negotiated lower by over 50%. So price is important and Harris Teeter delivered value in spades. It wasn't surprising, I'd say that is the trend when you compare NYC to NC supermarket prices or NYC to anywhere on a cost-of-living basis. There are definitely plenty of competitors in the area (Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Fresh Market, new Publix in Cary) but this is the store we have been doing our Sunday shop at since we moved down. I actually switched it up last week to the new Publix store and concluded I liked Teeter a little better although there are strengths and weaknesses to each. For example, the bakery section in Publix is much higher quality to me than Teeter, but I wasn't a fan of the layout of the store and thin aisles. I find if you are smart and take advantage of the sales with your Vic Card you will find some sweet deals. The deli and meat sections are built out well and the layout of the store makes sense, I swear that isn't because I've done hundreds of laps over the past year and change. The sandwiches and salad bar are great and relatively inexpensive as well. In most cases they are better than what you would get at a dedicated fast-casual restaurant like Carolina Café. As more residents move into the area and new complexes, expect the already tight parking lot to become even more of a flashback to the rush-hour traffic you drove home from earlier in the evening. Your best bet is to shop early on Sunday (G-d's day is a blessing for the Jews down here as well) or go later on since it is 24 hours. Self-checkout is also super convenient. read more

I used to live right up the road from this HT, but I still make the trip to this one! Out of all the HT's I've been to, Cameron Village is one of my favorites. The previous review is spot on about the diversity of people here and for people watching! There couldn't be a better spot than Cameron Village for this HT. I could hit the bar, have a fine dinner, pick up any prescriptions, get coffee, get my eyes checked and grab groceries all within 2 blocks, LOL. Not particularly in that order :-) This HT is pretty large and offers a great selection of items. Most HT's tend to be this way, but this one has that little bit extra. I also love the wine and beer section here. They seem to have more to choose from here as well compared to other HT's. The people that work here are very nice and always willing to give you a hand if you are having any trouble finding something. On a side note, go here on a Halloween night if you really want to see some interesting characters. It's proximity to the colleges and Cameron Village tend to draw quite a group on the prowl for beer for their parties! read more

This "Teet" is the closest supermarket for many of us living in downtown Raleigh. Personally, I venture way up to Trader Joe's for most of my groceries. But, I will visit this location occasionally due to the convenience. Like most Teeters, this one is very clean and well-maintained. I have never noticed any past expiration dates, and I can always find everything I am looking for. The big negative is the parking lot, which is full of chaos. It's possibly worse than the Whole Foods parking lot on Wade Ave., and it will only get worse when all of these new apartments are finished on Oberlin and downtown. Bonus for single men: put on some nice clothes and go shopping on Sunday night. You may find a date near the produce! read more

This is one of the larger and nicer Harris Teeters in the area. It's a lot less sketchy than the other one near campus. They are open 24hours. I'm not sure what people expect from a grocery store that they are complaining. The parking sucks? I have never had a problem. Of course if you go around 5pm the lot will be full just as any other grocery store would be. The lines will be long then too! But that's just how things are. They are probably one of the better staffed late night stores and it's easy to check out here. The location is also very convenient if you are in Cameron Village running other errands. read more

I try to avoid this grocery store if at all possible. It is seriously over priced and way too crowded for such a small store. It is one of the more convenient grocery stores to downtown, but it is not a conventional set up. With the ever growing population in Cameron Village this place will soon become troublesome for the quick in and out shopper. The parking lot is it's own beast. Good luck with the dynamics of a tiny lot and an overwhelming amount of cars. The plus side is there are no bays so people are forced to return carts to their proper place. There is curbside service for those who wish to skip the shopping for their groceries. This small Teeter services not only the surrounding neighborhoods, but the college as well. I prefer to drive the extra miles to a larger and more mature atmosphere, if you know what I'm saying. I don't have my parent's credit card to stock up on bud light and Tony's for the weekend(which you will pay top dollar for). I'm just not a fan. read more

I have been craving fried chicken for a while now so while I was at this store last night I picked up a small bucket of fried chicken. The few pieces on top were okay but the further I got down in the bucket the worse the chicken got. The very bottom piece was almost completely black, tasted burnt, and the chicken meat itself was like chewing leather. Worst friend chicken experience I have ever had and I will never get fried chicken from Harris Teeter again. read more

This Harris Teeter has a great location at Cameron Village, close to a ton of other stores, so you can get everything done in one area. I go here a couple of times a week and they seem to have a constant stock of everything I need and are open 24 hours. The salad bar has plenty of offerings, but I'd stay away from the croutons. They were more chewy-stale than crunchy-stale...probably just left out a little too long. The parking is adequate during the weekdays, but during rush hour and the weekends, it can be difficult to find a spot. This doesn't bother me too much, as I really don't mind walking a little further. read more

I have a Whole Foods within a half mile of my house that I pass by most times to shop at HT Cameron Village. Large store, great selection of almost everything and LARGEST HT DELI COUNTER in the world. Really - it's true. Parking could be a bit easier. My only complaint is that when you want to buy a case of wine it's almost impossible to find an empty box to use. Boxes should be available for mixed cases!!!!! Do it. Please.
