It reminded me of the kind of small town restaurant you might find in the mid-west, unassuming but friendly, with a nice family and "after church" kind of vibe. Service was prompt, the waitress friendly. Coffee and drinks came very quick. I had a California omelette with roasted portables. A good choice, it was tasty and filling. Definitely try the banana bread as a side. It is excellent! Also worth getting one to go. Overall, eating at the Scratch Xafe was a good experience, and I look forward to eating there again soon.

Would definitely go back tho.

Unfortunately, our most recent visit yesterday was a completely different experience. The menu has changed, several of our favorites are gone, and the food made it seem like there may also be a new chef. My burger was so overcooked that I had to send it back. My husband's tortilla soup tasted like a pureed mess, and the salad he ordered with Greek crème dressing was absolutely drenched in dressing and was overwhelming. The bright spot was our server, Gladys. She was wonderful and did everything she could to make things right. Her service was excellent, and we truly appreciated her efforts. Our sincere plea to Thirty Acres Kitchen: PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE bring back the menu we loved! For now, we've taken the restaurant off our regular rotation and hope that things improve before we return. We really want to love this place again!

Harry's Cafe in Stanton has an extensive menu of fairly average food. Servings are generous but beware as I got food poisoning twice eating there just before they closed. The guilty food was their breakfast burrito which has eggs, potatoes and I always got it with green peppers and onions wrapped in a greasy tortilla. Why twice you may ask? Well, I live and work very close to Harry's Cafe and there are no other restaurants within walking distance so I took a chance and paid for it with another painful and gut wrenching episode. When I told the manager about the food poisoning he denied having any other complaints and said that he would give me a free burrito! I declined and still occasionally order just their potatoes to go early in the morning..... The manager basically acused me of making it up and that I got sick off my own food but l have had the same kind of food poisoning a few times in my life and I know what caused it. Be warned that this is a greasy spoon that is poorly managed and you too may suffer the very unpleasant effects of food poisoning, but I will spare you the gruesome details. My recommendation is to find a cafe / restaurant with a healthier menu and higher standards. I have only eaten at the Harry's Cafe location on the corner of Katella Ave and Dale St in Stanton as I think that they have another Stanton restaurant on Western Ave read more

I experienced a grave and sour treatment from the Owner when I attempted to bring my Federal and State licensed service animal into the location. While a constant customer for over 10 years @ the Katella Ave location I encountered the Owner's attitude about his customers and his employees. I was promptly verbally attacked (inclusive of vulgar language) by the owner. This on top of him physically arm in arm escorting me to the exit. I require a service dog to accompany me everywhere I go. This animal is professionally trained and has passed all requirements to obtain a State of CA license. Not a fake ID internet card or any false documents. She wears a CAPE, HARNESS and the GOVERNMENT ISSUED BRONZE ID TAG ON COLLAR, as a full service animal.SO HARRY, SHAME ON YOU I GUESS MAYBE YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND THE LAW IF YOU ARE GOING TO RUN BUSINESSES IN THIS COUNTRY. BEST OF LUCK IN FEDERAL CIVIL RIGHT APPEARANCE. FILED ON MY BEHALF BY THE COURTS. I wasn't going to write a review on this place because I've been coming here for years because its right down the street from my house. My visits have slowed down over the past year because they are under new management. And with new management comes new employees. And these employees SUCK!!! I went through the drive thru and when my food was finally ready the guy handed my bag to me without a word and closed the window. When I received my food I kind of waited there thinking that he would be back or something because that is not a way to end a transaction. He then walked back to the window, and without opening it, shrugged his shoulders as if asking, "what else do you want?" What kind of service is this!?! At least they kept the same cook because the food was still somewhat decent. The quality of bacon must have changed along with the employees though cause that bacon was as nasty as that guys attitude. And everybody knows... I LIKE BACON!!! read more

Honestly, one of the best experiences I've had at a restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious and you can tell it's made with care. The portions were very generous, which made it even better. What really stood out to me was the staff -- they were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and professional. Their cheeseburgers are still what I feel to be leagues better than local fast food chains in its area and their #1 combo is competitively priced that I also feels like it beats local fast food chains there. I do wish the menu pictures were more genuine to its products rather than if it feels like it was painted or drawn. But this is an extremely minor gripe.

The patties are thick and well cooked, lightly seasoned, with crunchy lettuce layered with care, a large encompassing fresh tomato, and it all has the distinctive taste of having been cooked atop a flaming char grill. Just F-ing Yum! While I eat I get the pleasure of watching a couple of women who work there as they tidy up the place.
