I am SO GRATEFUL she chose Evert-Luko!!! When she passed, they were at the hospital immediately to care for her from the start. We met with the funeral director, Clint, a few days later and he was so kind and caring. He made us feel so welcome and it was like walking into his "home." We made all the arrangements with his help and it was such an easy meeting. He was very easy to talk to! With his help, we booked the church Mass at St. Charles, picked beautiful floral arrangements, finalized details, and snagged the VFW across the street for the luncheon after the burial. Sue (his right-hand woman) was amazing too!!! She took care of all of the backend stuff and made the arrangements for the luncheon. The food was amazing (we went traditional luncheon fare) and I was so happy with how it turned out. THANK YOU SUE!!! The day of the funeral went so smoothly. I was nervous about it all because I've never had to plan a funeral and I wanted my mother-in-law's send-off to be everything she deserved. Evert-Luko DELIVERED!!! Clint had another important engagement that day so Gino stepped in and walked us through the whole day. Gino was so attentive, calmed my nerves, and made sure we were all where we were supposed to be. We had a full Catholic mass for my mother-in-law and I am not Catholic so I was very overwhelmed with the traditions, but Gino was right by my side to help me through it and made sure I didn't "look lost." It all went off without a hitch. Thank you Gino for everything you did to make that day smooth and nerve free!!! From the bottom of my family's hearts, we THANK YOU ALL for being there with us during that really difficult time. I really could not have done it without you all. Funeral pre-planning: Their funeral pre-planning service is outstanding and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anybody. Since both my relatives had pre-planned their funerals, it made the funeral planning process much easier for me. Planning the actual funeral: This was pretty straightforward. I came in to select what options I wanted and they took care of the rest. They were very helpful with writing the obituary. I felt like they were taking care of all the details and I didn't need to worry about anything, really. They made a great DVD slideshow of photos I had provided to them; people really enjoyed that. After the funeral they even provided an etiquette brochure that made writing thank you notes easier. Little stuff like that really helped. Staff: Throughout the process, Randle Dable Brisk employees were incredibly caring and detail-oriented. I've worked with both Lee and Tom as funeral directors--they were both very helpful. Cosmetology: This really stood out to me. I don't know how they did it, but they made my relative look so good and very natural. Because of COVID, my relative had not had a haircut in a long time. I provided a couple of photos that showed his previous hair and facial hair style, and the final result exceeded my expectations...by a ton. It was incredibly meaningful to see my relative look so nice and I am grateful for that last memory. Whoever did his hair/makeup is a truly gifted cosmetologist.

They made it easy to go through the options and answered any questions we had. Mostly, my review is about the service itself. First off, our Mom looked beautiful and natural. Nothing like the dreaded stuff you see in movies. She looked like she was taking a nap and was just how you would want to remember her. I found out later that Sarah is the person to credit for this and she did an awesome job. The flowers we received were positioned beautifully and they provided plenty of space and easels for our photo boards. The sign in book table looked great as well, they even had a framed picture with her and all of the info right on the table. Not much else I can say except that they did a great job and we couldn't have been more pleased.

The main entrance area is a nice space with separated rooms for the visitation and mourning. I sought the services of Goodman-Bensman after my father passed away but after this experience…read morewould not recommend them to anyone. A cousin had found and recommended Goodman-Bensman because it was important to part of our family that my father be given the traditional Jewish funerary rites, like a ritual bath and watchman. I cannot speak to how/how well those traditions were carried out because we weren't present for those, but I can speak to how shockingly expensive all goods and services were with this outfit; a wooden casket (which arrived dented), air transport home, and associated services ($2,015 forwarding fee separate from airfare) cost us more than the funeral, burial, and everything else with the other funeral home and synagogue combined. Furthermore, the way Goodman-Bensman demanded full payment (but wouldn't even accept American Express) at 10:30 pm the night before the scheduled flight seemed in poor taste, to say the least. The receiving funeral home also reported that they ended up having to pay the airline themselves (and getting reimbursed by Goodman-Bensman) because Goodman-Bensman was unable to do so. The receiving funeral home also stated that communication was slow/poor with Goodman-Bensman and that my father's last name had been misspelled in the paperwork which was sent over, causing his death notice in the local paper to be misspelled. My father, moreover, wished to be buried in his blanket and favorite hat, which I communicated clearly with the funeral director, Tom. My father's hat was ultimately thrown in a linen bag unceremoniously at his feet and was thought to have been lost or misplaced until a few phone calls (and an unpleasant conversation with the seemingly defensive and resentful Tom) clarified the error. The last straw came weeks later, as I waited for copies of his death certificates to arrive; most funeral homes will notify the Social Security Administration of a death, but when my father received an SSA payment this month, I called the SSA to find out that the funeral home had never done so. Kimberly, who took my call at Goodman-Bensman, claims that they notified the SSA online but could not provide a record. The local SSA offices report that they received nothing. All in all, I'm very disappointed in the services my family and I received from Goodman-Bensman -- services for which we paid a substantial price. I regret my decision not to seek the services of another funeral home, which would have handled my father's last wishes and trip home with more grace and tact.

Staff is professional and do seem to genuinely care. There doesn't seem to be any pushy or overselling of services or goods. Facility is very clean and comfortable. My most recent experience there was pleasant until the day of the funeral when I saw my sister done up like an old woman. We did not have a current photo to give them but did explain she didn't wear make up or do up her hair - wash and go kind of thing. The day of the funeral when we got to see her before it started and she looked just horrible. They took a 44 year old woman and made her look 92. Gave her an old woman up do with no bangs and all combed up to the top of her head. Make up was not good either, looked very unprofessional. I don't know what and who went wrong but I would have done it myself if I knew how bad of a job was going to be done. Before the visitation started I was trying to brush her hair down, managed to fix a little but not well. When you loose a loved one, you do not want them disrespected or remembered in a way they didn't look. It was sad, everyone had the same comment throughout the day. (how bad of a job was done on her) Though this was a major mark against them in my book, I cannot give them less than 4 stars because they are a very helpful facility. My grandmother's funeral was just fine and went well. This may have just been a bad coincidence. I would recommend Heritage for services but make sure you have a good picture for their make up person to go off of.
