$8.99 (+tax) all you can eat with drink included! What can be better than that?! I'll tell you what! Check in to this location on Yelp and pay $8 + tax! Yeah, you read that right. EIGHT FREAKIN' BUCKS! Come in, pay up, get a plate, fill up, pour yourself a drink, and then chow down. Once you're done? Go back to the cashier, ask for a new plate, and repeat the process. Fresh chicken, strips, wings. They also have fish (or at least I think they were fish). Downside? They don't label anything (hence I wasn't sure if I actually saw fish or not). But everything else is pretty much self explanatory since they are fried chicken after all. Another downside? No fries. Like, really? Fried chicken but no fries? That just ain'r right!! Will be including this as part of my lunch rotation in the area!

    Hot and crispy.

Best fried chicken in Houston. Always fresh and crispy. I'm not a big side guy so I always get the 8 piece chicken only. A guilty pleasure !

We have a monthly event and I love to learn all about new businesses, since I'm new to the area. My husband placed our order and was so impressed by the hospitality of the gentleman that took his order. He added that he mentioned it was our first time trying the food and got several suggestions for ways to upgrade the waffles and wings, which was a hit for our family. We ordered: 1. Fish and waffles (upgrade: cookies and cream waffles) 10/10 2. Wings and waffles (upgrade: red velvet waffles & spicy lemon pepper wings with a sprinkle of buffalo seasoning for added heat) 10/10 3. Wings and waffles 10/10 The waffles were light and airy, the texture was delicate. They had the perfect balance of sweet and savory when paired with the breading of the wings. The chicken was juicy, well seasoned and hot! You could taste the freshness of all the ingredients, I was impressed. Highlights: The staff were professional and very welcoming and helpful. The menu was simple and straight to the point. The food was fresh and hot. The presentation of the food was consistent and very appealing. Overall, this is the standard of overall quality that all chicken and waffle establishments should strive to achieve.

Messy in exactly the way a cheesesteak is supposed to be. And the fries weren't just there taking up space either. Then came the jerk chicken egg rolls. Crispy on the outside, STUFFED on the inside, and full of jerk chicken and flavor. They definitely weren't stingy with the filling. Oxtail cheesesteak + jerk chicken egg rolls = chef's kiss. So we made the drive here on a Saturday in the Texas heat to check it out. Pulling up here, it's got the island themes with the Jamaican flags, island memorabilia, and afro-beats music blaring from the inside; felt like we were visiting one of the Caribbean restaurants on the islands. We placed an order for the jerk chicken eggrolls, the jamaican beef pattie, a jerk chicken platter w/ rice & peas & curry veggies, and a brown-stewed chicken with steamed cabbage and mac & cheese. About 9-10 minutes later, they called us for our food and we dug in. Everything was absolutely bursting with flavors and island spices. The jerk chicken eggrolls, both entrees, and the cabbage & curried veggies sides are definite must-orders. The chicken in all of those dishes are super tender and melt in your mouth with the spices and sauce. The Jamaican pattie is pretty good although it's the same that I've had at other spots. The rice & peas is a pretty big portion and you can taste the thyme and other spices in it. I didn't care for the mac & cheese but my fiance loved it; wasn't blown away by it. All the seating is outdoors with minimal indoor high seats so it may be best to get it to go. The beverages are island drinks such as the ocean wata (blueberry lemonade) and the Ting (grapefruit soda) which are popular island staples at the convenience stores. They pair great with whatever eats you're ordering. Other food items here that I need to try is the red snapper, the oxtail cheesesteak, and the curry goat. We'll definitely be back to try those! They also do catering as well so that may be another option we'll consider!

I remember the hype this place got as they started out and moved from their original spot to this new spot on Shepard. Now that they have inside seating, I figured it was time to check them out. I was in the area at a local bar with friends, and a few friends ordered Mico's through DoorDash. It looked and smelled so good that I decided I had to have it that night, but at the restaurant. I pulled up to what looks a new building. They share a lot with other businesses but I was able to get a parking spot easily. The restaurant is spacious with lots of seating. They also have bar seating by the register. When I looked around, I noticed alot of people waiting on food. It was a mix of food delivery drivers as well as patrons that had ordered and waiting. There was a customer at the counter going off on the employees and I got to commend the young staff for keeping their cool. That being said, the young staff was friendly and trying their best, but they were drowning and the mood in the place was off. Items were forgotten. People were not getting their food in the order of when they ordered. Four parties ordered after me, with similar items and everyone got their orders before mine. I think I was forgotten and only after one of the staff noticed me waiting did they come and look at my receipt. Time from ordering to receiving my food was close to 40 minutes. This is a hot chicken place that is trying to be somewhat fancy. I was served my food on a nice plated plate. Nice touch, but it felt off for the food being served here. They also give utensils in cloth napkins. No paper towels or napkins in sight. Hot chicken is messy and the cloth napkins was not doing it for me. I ended up up knife and forking my sandwich to keep the messy hands from happening. They also serve their fountain drinks in small cups filled to the brim with us. A few swigs and my drink was almost gone. For a place serving spicy food, a soda fountain with refills or readily available water should be available and out front. Now to the good part. The food was outstanding. I ordered the Chicken Sandwich at their hottest level which also came with a side. I got the waffle fries. The sandwich was voted one of the best dishes in the state by Texas Monthly and I can see why. It was a hefty sandwich with a large chicken breast seasoned to perfection. I always love when their is a little hangover of the chicken outside of the bun. The chicken was crispy but juicy inside. The heat was there but totally bearable with the cooling component of the delicious slaw on top. I usually pick pickles off sandwiches, but the pickles here were good and the acidity added a pleasant touch to the sandwich. The waffle fries were also excellent. They were the battered and seasoned kind which I love. The food most definitely saved the overall experience on my visit here. I will say it is one of the better hot chickens I have had in Houston. Now if they go back to their roots and not try to be fancy and do better on their customer service, I can see this place sticking around for a long time. With my experience, I don't see myself hurrying back anytime soon.

Lunchtime was crowded, so there was a line out the door. Unfortunately, the hostess didn't exude a lot of hospitality when a few people stepped in to get out of the heat. Although it wasn't directed toward us, it was weird to hear the hostess tell some guest to backup and get away from the her area. The waiting are inside is small, but a little understanding in that situation would have been more inviting. Anyway, once we got seated, everything improved. The presentation for some of the entree's seemed to be lacking, but the taste of the entree made up for the basic plating. The custom lemonade was fantastic.
