Our waitress did check on us mid-meal. The dining room is nicely decorated and their sushi chefs greet guests upon entering! PARKING: They have a parking lot, but it can be hard to find parking at times as they share the lot with other restaurants and markets. IMPRESSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS: I often get their nabeyaki udon with a tempura appetizer. However, the chicken in the udon and the tempura sauce are both seasoned with shichimi powder, which I could do without. I also recommend their chirashi bowl; the fish is pretty fresh! It's not that we are mean people--it's that the entire purpose of a review is to tell you where to go and where to avoid. Giving inflated scores, higher than deserved, does NOT give more money to restaurants--you're not helping them. Right now, you are reading reviews because you've already committed to going out--so you will spend that money either way. Now you need a truthful review to tell you which restaurant deserves your money more. It is NOT helpful to anyone, restaurants or patrons, to give all businesses 4-5 stars. So, because we all decided to give this place high marks (4 stars at this time), thanks... Yelp helped me blow $120 on mediocre food. 1. Hot Green Tea $1.50: I didn't try it. 2. Mio-Nada (300ml) Sparkling Sake $19 "soft and smooth": Well, I did love this. It's like sake made into soda, though admittedly it barely tastes like sake. 6/10 3. Tako Wasabi Appetizer $7.50 "raw octopus with wasabi": So the waiter asked me which one I wanted. Which one? Well, I guess it appears 2x in the menu, under appetizers and under sushi. Well, I told him appetizer. And we got sushi. So, I'm not clear if the appetizer is supposed to be sushi? Who knows. Anyway, it tasted good, but they're super stingy on the octopus. I mean, how much does it really cost to take a spoonful of diced up raw octopus and mix it with wasabi? I know my pic of this dish is deceiving--trust me, they jus barely covered the rice. 4/10 4. Chicken Karaage $7.50 "Japanese fried chicken": The batter is NOT Japanese. It's like my mom's first attempt with a crappy wet batter at home, overly thick, and without texture. Not crisp, just a pile of dough around chicken. Shameful. BUT, I will say, the chicken is quite juicy! 2/10 5. Children's Bento, Salmon Teriyaki $10.50: Look, if my 1.5yr old knew cuss words, I know he'd be using them when he tasted this fish. Totally overcooked. The fries were really soggy. Like REALLY soggy. There was a fried dumpling, but I didn't try that. Anyway, no, this is not fit for my child. He eats far better every night mommy cooks (most days of the week). 1/10 6. Dynamite Deep-Fried Roll $13.50 "assorted spicy fish mixed deep fried, sweet sauce, spicy mayo, sriracha": Wtf. This ain't like no "dynamite" I've ever had. I mean, I've had dozens since college. This is not like the delicious mixture of scallops, shrimp, and other seafood combined with mayo you'd be expecting. No, this is mostly salmon, half cooked! (and OVER cooked), and half raw, totally inconsistent. Check out my pic--it's a total mess. There's no way to pick this up without it falling apart either. 2/10 7. Big Sur (No rice!!) $15.50 "unagi, crab meat, avocado, ebi, wrapped in cucumber, sweet sauce": Literally, the smallest portions of unagi (eel) I've EVER seen in a unagi roll. EVER EVER EVER. Just look at my pic--you see that tiny little circular portion that's darker?... that's the unagi. I mean hell, at first I was like, did they forget the eel? Seriously. That was my first thought when they put it on our table. Also, the description mentions ebi (shrimp)... let me know when you find it k? Waiting...... still waiting............... 1/10 8. Combo Sashimi Meal $24.50 "chef's choice of 12 pcs of assorted fresh fish": Well, okay, FINALLY, a proper Japanese dish. All the fish was fresh, and tasted good. BUT, come on, "chef's choice?" Seriously? It's the same fish as anywhere else. 6.5/10 9. O-Toro $13.50: This was a special. Just take a look at my photo. I'm gonna give this one 1/10--let me know if you agree k? Thank you Yelp. You can tell it's an excellent atmosphere as soon as you see the restaurant. Continues into the restaurant. Appetizer (Fried Oyster): They did not disappoint, Oysters were sizeable and fresh. They even threw in an extra fried oyster, perhaps by accident but we'll take it. Sushi: Sake Maki - Basic salmon roll was a little on the smaller size, but the fish was fresh. Excellent as an in between. Volcano - My boyfriend and I really enjoyed this and it packed a punch (spicy) but it wasn't our absolute favorite. spicy tuna was the star here. Lion King- delicious but unassuming, the flavors maybe weren't distinct enough? Add a dip of soy sauce in there though and you get that Amazing ratatouille lightbulb moment! ha. Lana Roll- Lana is a class all her own. There is no star in this show because every ingredient is the star. All distinct, perfectly portioned and melds well together. I used Harumi's online ordering service for pick up. When I arrived to pick up my food, there appeared to be issues with the online pricing and the actual pricing. Luckily they were able to call their boss and provide the item I had paid for, but getting to that process was a little strange. At first the hostess and sushi chef was offering to provide me the equivalent of what I had paid for, but I requested to receive what I had paid for online. Then they said, they would give me what I ordered, but I would have to pay the difference ($30). I told them that I want what I ordered, and it would bad business practice for them to make me pay for a mistake I didn't do. That's when they called their boss and was able to show them that the online menu was the mistake, and they decided to give me my original order. On top of the price mistake, they didn't have an item that I had ordered, so they wanted me to come back one week later on a day when the current workers were not here, and pick up one item because they don't the ability to refund my card. Luckily, we were able to resolve this issue by just switching it for another item. I have been here many times before, and I have never had issues eating here before. This is the first time I had this kind of experience, I'm hoping it's the last time it happens, but to be honest I don't think I'll be coming back. I usually don't like leaving less than favorable reviews, but they put me in an awkward position, in front of other guests. read more

The food was DELICIOUS!!! I have pictures as proof! The big boy sushi roll is huge but definitely worth every penny. My husband got the customized bento dinner. The sushi roll with that was pretty filling (he doesn't eat fish, so I get to enjoy!) The only reason it doesn't get five stars is because the service wasn't the best. It started great, we didn't have reservations (forgot it was a Friday evening) and they made room for us. But then the waitress came and she was pretty rude. Took our drinks order but never returned until she brought out our check. Someone else finally came to help but we were forgotten about in the córner throughout our entire dinner. The food was amazing though, so we would go back in hopes that maybe it will be an even better experience. read more

They had a rewards program. You kept a card and, each time you came in, you earned some points that could be used for a discount. Whenever I came in, I would hand the card over when the bill came and my points would be accrued. I came in one night recently, and did this, and was told that they had stopped the rewards program. "Okay, no problem, I'll cash it in now." No. Not allowed. Check with the manager: no. I had like $9 on there. This is so skeezy and it surprised me that they would do something like this. I like their sushi, but the place is a dump and you know this already if you've been. I don't think it's all their fault; it's one of a number of poorly maintained mid-century strip malls in the area, where the landlords refuse to do anything to improve the property. They then say they are going to charge me if we still want it. I'm infuriated. I was almost done eating and my poor son hadn't yet received his entree. They had the nerve to say if we still want it we have to pay for it.... I never asked them to comp it! So, that's why the sushi chef pulled it back?!?! Let me just say first that I think they serve the best tempura I've ever had, bar none. Not only the batter and crispness, but the choice of veggies was a bit different from standard. I also got the karaage chicken and it was good, but it would have been better if it was a little crisper vs a somewhat soft fry. The seasoning didn't shout Japanese either. Still enjoyed it though. The service could have been better - took me forever to get the check - but I know many restaurants are short of help these days, so it is what it is with that, for now. The only thing that was honestly yuck was that the table had been cleaned with a wet cloth that should have been changed out and put in the laundry - the whole booth smelled like stinky old dishrag throughout my meal. Just had lunch there. Clean and spacious restaurant. Great service and ambience. It is in a small strip mall so had a little trouble finding it. Plenty of customer parking. I had the spicy pork ramen. It was very flavorful and the ramen was cooked just right! Large selection of ramen and udon noddle soup. Definitely my new go to ramen spot. I drove over from Marina. My niece loves this place and I think it is pretty good. The front of the store is pretty nondescript but the inside is pretty nice. I arrived at about 6:15 pm on a Saturday evening and was quickly seated while I waited for my niece and her friend. We decided to stick with sushi rolls just to make things easy. We ordered the Rainbow, Eternal Sunshine, Grinch and Crispy Crunch rolls. All rolls arrived very quickly as there were about 4 sushi chefs working behind the sushi bar. The rolls were very good except the Eternal Sunshine roll for me as there were pieces of lemon on top of the roll. Perhaps Meyer lemons might work better, I or maybe not. The sushi tasted quite fresh and this can be attributed to the popularity of the restaurant. From about 7:30 pm onwards, there was a pretty long list of people waiting for a table.
