    Dirty Dancing fact
    Clay M.

The appetizers and menu food is very delicious and full of flavor. This establishment holds the honor of being the filming location of the Blockbuster movie, Dirty Dancing. However, It's an amazing place to visit and has some of the finest food to enjoy. Their sandwiches and tomato bisque soup is very tasty as well as their appetizers. The fried green tomatoes and pickle fries have a savory flavor.

I had my first bison burger at Mountain Lake Lodge's Harvest porch, and it was good! It was too big to finish. Haleigh was an excellent server.

    Potato cakes...DELICIOUS!!

We came to Mountain Lake Lodge, like most guests, because it was the Dirty Dancing hotel. We chose to eat at Harvest because we were only staying one night and didn't want to drive back down the hill for dinner. We enjoyed ourselves and the staff was great...super attentive, well informed on the menu, and very friendly. The salad, bread, and side dishes were great (definitely order the potato pancakes...super delicious!) . My husband and I shared the mixed grill (ribeye, pork chop, crab-stuffed shrimp, wild game sausage, and quail). The meats were okay. I like a char on my meats and there was no char. The sausage was a little too gamey for my taste. The mixed grill was a nice way to try a few different items on the menu, but I would probably not order it again.

Bison Burger - the burger was good - the service was exceptional! Going back for dinner again tonight!

The atmosphere is a must for any Dirty Dancing fan. Chef is so good! We have eaten there twice a day during our stay !

Hubby and I had an awesome anniversary dinner at Harvest! We arrived shortly before closing and there were only two other tables in use. Our waiter was friendly and helpful without being overly present. Hubby began with the sausage jambalaya and I had the fried green tomatoes. For the main course I had the lamb chop with a mint pesto as well as two veggie sides (local squash and brussel sprouts) and hubby got the Virginia steak with mashed potatoes and a local veggie. For dessert we got the blueberry pound cake with lemon ice cream. My drink was called the peachy keen and he had berry julep. Everything was excellent. We watched the day end (it was too cloudy to call it a sunset) in a relaxed setting enjoying a truly delicious farm to table meal prepared in house. Our Harvest experience was part of why we are considering a revisit to Mountain Lake Lodge. It was part of our short but relaxed anniversary getaway and gets two thumbs up from both of us. Thank you Harvest for an awesome anniversary dinner!

Spinach and artichoke dip with pita chips

stayed at the hotel because I LOVE the movie. My husband and I went to dinner at Harvest due to the fact that there aren't any other restaurants for miles. This wasn't our first encounter with an absolutely TERRIBLE restaurant attached to cute kichy hotel. -we got the app of spinach and artichoke dip with pita bread. First off, the dip was microwaved and not very well as it was cold in the middle. The pita bread slices were SO SALTY and COVERED with seasoning salt so much that it physically burned my lips when I ate one. ($9) -they brought us rolls after we ordered an app. Kind of a slimy move if you ask me. The rolls were the exact ones I buy from the grocery store frozen section, no joke my husband recognized them. -I got the "Pan seared chicken with white mushroom sauce" ($19) with a side of mashed potatoes ($4). I honestly don't know what part of the chicken it was, but it was the smallest and driest chicken I had ever had in my life. Topped with one lonely mushroom. My husband got the "wild game duo with blueberry confit" ($22) and a side of potato cake ($4). It was supposed to be venison steak and wild boar sausage. That wasn't a steak more of a burger and wild boar tastes like actual tree bark. - I'll basically let the pics speak for themselves. I feel sad that they let such a historic place fall to this level. Don't let the white table linens and beautiful view trick you into a $70+ bill. - 1 star because the server was nice and the view.

I live 50 minutes out from here and I had a doctor appointment, I stopped here because I hadn't eaten on the way down and I wanted to try something new. On my way in, the host was nice and sat me at my table, the atmosphere wasn't bad. I was in a quiet corner and it seemed like slow day for them so it felt pretty peaceful to me. I had the Mac n cheese bowl and it was delicious! Very nice and hot and it all tested pretty fresh! It came with three garlic/butter bread and they were lightly toasted on one side and it was perfect. Chad was my waiter and he did a very nice job as well, he checked on me in timely manner that wasn't to much and he was very polite and calm. So I'd definitely say I'm very satisfied with my first experience, and I think it's a nice place to give a try if you hadn't eaten there before. Of course everyone experience will be different and not as good as mine, but this definitely deserves a chance, and if I come down here again I'll definitely come back and eat here! My only "complaint" is that I would've liked more broccoli in my Mac n cheese, but it was so good that it didn't even affect my experience.

Met a friend at 8. For the first hour, the atmosphere was solid. For the second hour, it was okay. For the third hour, it wasn't good. The clientele kept going downhill. It had a bit of a troublemaking vibe. Just letting you know. But you probably already know. This is more for the people coming in from out of town and considering it as an option. If you want a chill vibe, I recommend going during the day or evening.

According to their website, "Macado's started in downtown Roanoke, Virginia, in 1978 and became popular for its eclectic decor and moderately priced food, especially with the college crowd." The chain emphasizes: "a comfortable and enjoyable atmosphere for a diverse clientele, including families."  Today, as I was seated in the booth the Host had brought me to and observing the Macado's logo on the paper napkin laying on my table, I thought to myself: What is the meaning of the "Just to be there" located under the restaurant's name in its logo? And I thought to myself that It's possible "Just to be there" might be a phrase associated with the feeling of camaraderie or the comfortable atmosphere that Macado's aims to provide, and thus a popular spot for people of all ages and social classes to get together, eat, socialize, and be merry. I remember the very first time I ate here. It was for a lunch invitation from a good friend of mine I hadn't seen in a while. The first impression I got of the place was amazing. I loved the building where the restaurant was housed and all the interesting decorations. It was almost completely full from the lunch crowd, yet this provided a warm and cozy feeling knowing that so many people had taken the time to come eat here even though they knew it would be crowded. I was fascinated by the large and extensive menu, and after carefully reviewing it, ordered the Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Burger. It came with half a pound of meat, a soft fresh bun, and a whole bunch of krinkle fries. It was so big and delicious I can't forget how full I was when I finished eating it. Just eating there for the first time and I couldn't wait to return. I had set such high expectations of the place that many of the other times I visited the place I was disappointed. It could have been by the lack of training of the servers on the Knowledge of and explaining menu items, or by the timing on how to serve them. Or it could be by a mistake from the cook in cooking or preparing an item. Like today, I ordered Bang Bang Shrimp as an appetizer and the shrimp arrived overcooked almost to the point of burnt with the Assian Crisp Noodles a bit stale. So much so that I had to ask to see the manager to formally complain. The manager was a friendly young lady who listened to me and admitted the shrimp could have been fried before they had just changed the oil. And she came up with possible solutions to the question: "What can I do to make it right?" Of which I choose for her to not charge me for the burnt shrimp and the bad dining experience they had caused me. I went on and ate the Lone Ranger sandwich with Onion Rings that were cooked right, and because of the manager's handling of the situation in such an effective way, I am sure to return, because there is something about Macado's that makes you want to "Just to be there."
