I've not actually used Harvey and recently found out why there's no recent reviews. Harvey appears to be retired as a result of his doctor's orders and due to the risk (Covid) he's now referring people to either Oren (Ventura County Appliance Repair) and Matt (who's company escapes me) when you reach his business line. I wouldn't recommend Oren (only available in Simi Tues/Thursdays and his service charge is more than others that are local and reliable) and only heard back from Matt several days after leaving a message. Harvey is a wealth of knowledge and should he re-activate his business I would consider him again. He will spend an inordinate amount of time helping and is a gem. read more

Harvey is a gem! COVID has hit his business hard but he took the time to speak with me on the phone and walk me through options for almost an hour. In the end he ended up recommending me to a close friend and fellow professional that was equally as pleasant. I was blown away by the level of care and time that Harvey offered up to me, a total stranger. I later learned via NextDoor that this experience lines up exactly with Harvey's reputation. Comes in late, Rude over the phone, Doesn't anticipate total repair cost of parts. I had to dig the total potential cost out of him, and determined cost was prohibitive, and told him to just put all the parts back as it was before. 2 days later, I happened to find out that the refrigerator is leaking water by my property manager. Apparently, the fridge was full of water and water was over the kitchen floor and damaging kitchen cabinets. His answered rudely "I don't know what it leaked" and told me to shush! read more

Harvey is old school FANTASTIC! The man is 100% honest and down to earth, and I found his fees to be very fair & reasonable. I had two appliances giving me headaches, found Harvey on YELP and gave him a call. Immediately he started diagnosing the problem(s) over the phone. Had him come to my home and I was immediately impressed. What makes Harvey special is he takes the time to educate you WHY YOUR APPLIANCES FAILED. No other service company does this. Also, he allowed me to help (or at least think I was helping) so I could continue to ask him questions. He knows appliances and so much more. Given the time he spent at my home (4 hours) I was expecting a HUGE bill. But Harvey's charges were fair, and he detailed everything on the receipt. This is my appliance guy from today forward. Love the customer service. I had a dryer that had a timer that wouldn't advance. I was quoted over $300 to get it fixed from a technician. Called here to see how much the part cost, ended up only being $175. I was able to pick it up that day and do the install myself. read more

I found Harvey's on Yelp and with great reviews...but he happened to be out of town when my dryer broke. So I called someone else and they said it wasn't my dryer it was the venting. After cleaning the vents, it still didn't work so tried to get Harvey again. He figured out what was wrong, which I guess wasn't an easy job. He was such a nice guy, you felt like you can trust him. Honest and nice, like your father came over to fix it and make it all better :) I won't call anyone else again! read more

I wanted to give him a good review - really I did - but I can't. He got the job done right, so he gets a star for that. I don't know if the price was reasonable or not - I've been told since that I probably could have gotten it done for cheaper - but it wasn't exorbitant. I'll give him another star for that. That's where the good ends. He was a bit crotchety, and when I asked him to remove his shoes, he declined and said he was too old and it was too much effort. He repaired our washer but it took a lot longer than expected. Water ended up getting on the floor, and because he didn't take off his shoes like I requested, it got muddy and he dragged it all up and down my new white carpets. In the end, that's what I'll remember more than anything else. I'll go elsewhere next time. read more

I asked him about a couple appliances I needed looked at and gracefully shared that he does not do that kind of repair but he did give me some good other repairmen that can help me. Don't take being an older slightly cantankerous character as being rude, Harvey is prompt, professional and fair. Very pleased and will recommend Harvey's Appliance Repair. Harvey arrived when he said he would and his diagnosis of my GE side by side freezer leak was indeed correct. Get this, he diagnosed it over the phone and described specifically what had happened. I am revising my rating based on what I consider questionable repairs. Harvey fixed the motor and switch on our washing machine ~ the switch has already broken again. Along with that, when he went to replace our oven igniter, he shorted out another part that had to be replaced when removing the first part. Now, less than two months later our oven doesn't work again. While it could easily be a coincidence that BOTH appliances that were repaired had issues again, it seems strange that parts that were replaced either broke or are now not working. read more

I called Hravey yesterday in regards to an issue we had with our washing machine. He was more than happy to squeeze us in the next day. Harvey was quick to diagnose the situation and provided amazing service and knowledge as to providing a solution. I have never called a repair man before. I would normally just buy a new unit but my experience with Haqrvey has changed my mind. He was able to fix my washer in under an hour. Not to mention that his fees were (in my opinion) much lower than what I would expect for the professionalism and quality he provided. Bottom line is this. I have had 3 dealings with Harvey now and he has been fantastic EVERY time. The first time, my washer spinner broke and he fixed that quickly and for a very reasonable price. The second time he came and hauled away a washer and dryer we no longer needed. The most recent time was I just moved and could not figure out why my refrigerator water and ice would not work . I called him to come out but instead he talked me through locating the valve and getting the appliance working. So wonderful to have a great and honest appliance repair guy! Harvey came, listened to our washer run, and diagnosed the problem. The only problem was that the entire machine was not cost efficient to fix. Harvey suggested the brand for our next washer - you will have to call him to find that out. Call Harvey - and when he tells you that he will be there, or he will call if he can't come - don't worry if he's late. He will still come, or he'll call and reschedule. Harvey is the real deal. Great service on my G.E. range started with the phone call. Harvey listened carefully when I described the problem and clearly explained what he thought most likely to be the issue. You can never know until they get a look at the appliance, but based on my description, Harvey thought there were two possibilities: one quick and fairly inexpensive and one more extensive. He explained the flat-fee service charge if it turned out to be the bigger problem and I elected to replace rather than repair. I really appreciate that he was straightforward and respectful of whatever decision I might make, and that I knew what to expect. The day of the call, Harvey showed up well within the promised window, and was pleasant and professional throughout. He explained what he was doing and even gave me a couple of tips to keep my range functioning well. Happily, the problem turned out to be the simpler one, and my oven was functioning perfectly again in short order and at the estimated, very reasonable cost. Our dryer stopped working. My wife called Harvey while I was at work and he came to our house and found out what was wrong. He told her we needed to replace our rollers that had seized up. He recommended another person to repair all of the appliances; he said that he did not want me to have 2 house calls and pay double the money. Reliable, honest, hard working, reasonably priced ... We always use him and sometimes it's the appliance that can't be fixed. He will always give you his FAIR shot at it. If your appliance is not repaired when he leaves, perhaps its the appliance and NOT the repair man. Either way, he still earned his money (which is ALWAYS reasonable). Mr. Harvey Belkin from Harvey's Appliance repair is wonderful. I had a Maytag washer that was not functioning properly. Upon an on time arrival, the washer didn't make the noise, therefore Mr. Belkin performed the due diligence to recreate the problem. Mr. Belkin diagnosed and fixed the problem (which was a water pump) within 10 minutes. Most importantly, he had the part, installed it properly, provided an explanation of the broken part, gave me the broken part and made sure I was back in operation without a giant mess to clean up. Worth every penny of the service call charge. In fact, he was only slightly higher than my home warranty service. When you consider time and money, Harvey's Appliance Repair was less than my home warranty plan. I am giving 5 stars because the services rendered deserve all 5 stars. My refrigerator did not reset properly after a 2nd power outage within 4 days. I unplugged it after it started making a loud noise. I called Harvey, described the problem, and he asked me for some more details during the call. He was able to come out to look at it that Friday. He examined the fridge, then contacted the manufacturer tech support and described the problem and what had caused it. The fridge seemed to be working after he plugged it back in. Tech support suggested waiting until Monday, and monitoring the unit for a couple of days to see if it was working properly, before ordering expensive parts that may not be needed. That's what we did, and my fridge is working fine. Honest and trustworthy. Harvey is a very knowledgeable professional with many years of experience. Ok, so I come home to my wife saying the fridge doesn't work. Water is running out of the ice maker. I call Harvey. I've used him, and recommended him many times over the years. He says, "is this the only fringe you have?" "Yes," I say. Ok I'll be over tonight. Im like "Wow, I didn't expect that." He says, "Well, It's the only fridge you have. I have to come." He comes around 7:30pm. He spend almost 1 1/2 hours checking things, calling other techs, etc. Tells me it's dead. " How much do I owe you?" "Nothing." he says. "I can't fix it. Put the money towards a new one." I say, "I gotta give you something." He says, "You're Family, get a new one." WOW! That's how you get repeat business! read more

Zero stars would be better. I made my appointment with Harvey a week out for 10am. He did not tell me it would be a one hour window. So at 10:10 I called him and left a message seeing if he was still coming out. He never called me back. My doorbell rings at 10:45. Fine- maybe a misunderstanding on my end. I'll let that one go. He shows up after probably smoking 1/2 pack of cigarettes in his truck. My whole house then smelled like smoke. Extremely crotchety and condescending. Strike one. My dishwasher upper rack was popping off the wheel on one side. When he got there I showed him how it pops out. He very rudely said "I wish you hadn't just done that". I have popped the wheel in and out at least 50 times. A child could do this. He acted like I suddenly broke it. Strike 2. Then he couldn't figure out how to pull the rack out. So he asked me to hold it for him. My back started hurting so I said I needed to stop. He said if I stand up straight my back won't hurt. He was so rude the entire time. I was actually afraid of him. Strike 3. Very unprofessional. Several times he said "why the hell won't this rack come out". Then he would take a screwdriver and try and chip away at the plastic pieces on the rack to try and get it out. I thought this can't be how to remove it. Even if that is the only way, he was so unsure of what he was doing that it made me unsure of what he was doing. Strike 4. Then he took a call to book an appointment with someone else. Instead of focusing on my job, he was trying to diagnose his next customer's issue over the phone. Then he said "I need to take this call outside because your cell service is horrible". Altogether he spent about 10 minutes on the phone with someone else. Strike 5. He was being really rough with my dishwasher. Screwdriver comes back out. He was trying to chip at it and I finally said "I am worried this is going to make it worse. Do you think I should call KitchenAid to see how to remove the top rack?". His response was "No mam. I am going to close the dishwasher door and you can find someone else. He gets a star for leaving. Best news ever. read more

Ok, it rare to find such honesty and integrity these days, but I definitely found it in this business and more particularly the man. I had a washing machine that the door would not unlock. With patience Harvey guided me by the phone on how to unlock the door. He spent time with me and I did not feel rushed by him to complete the task quickly. As a result I was able to fix the machine at no charge. I know exactly who I will call with any appliance issues in the future. read more

Harvey came to our house a couple weeks ago and fixed our dryer that sounded like a bunch of nails and bolts were being tossed around in it! (I thought my husband left some in his pocket and they were stuck in the back of the dryer) He had to take the dryer apart to get to it but he found the part that was broken (it wasn't my husband after all) and he cleaned everything in the machine that had built up over the years, gave me some great advice, had me wash the lint screen for better air flow and our dryer works perfect now. His price was more then fair and I will use him again if anything else ever breaks and I'm happy to recommend him! read more
