To the right there are two huge kiosks. Plus a menu board above your head. Extreme overload IMO. I'll address the ambiance, this place needs a cleaning. Crumbs on table and seating. A young lady came to front and asked if it was my first time. I'm sure I appeared overwhelmed. (I was). She told me to use my phone to access the QR code at the table. AND to seat myself. AGAIN, This was extreme overload. I only wanted to order and pay cash. No physical menus in sight. The QR code is Apple Pay. Ugh. I'm old school and don't have all this stuff on my phone. I need it simple. I need a human connection. Not being able to see my food being cooked should have been another warning. What are you hiding?? Everyone wants a tip for doing nothing! Come on. I will never be guilted into leaving a tip for doing nothing. My shrimp rolls were brought to me with 2 packets "of to go Duck sauce". How original is that? The Tuna Rolls are covered with some mayo mix. The offer she did give me after the tuna rolls were delivered was Sriracha sauce, Louisiana sauce, or packets of soy sauce. Ugh. Really?? My food was terrible. I left 6 rolls of 7 uneaten. Odd number to deliver to the table. One bite of the tuna rolls and I knew it was best I NOT eat anything. I've driven past Hashi Japanese Kitchen plenty of times without really noticing it, and today while running errands I finally decided to stop in. I'm glad I did. The menu is surprisingly big, offering a variety of dishes that cover all the bases, but what caught my eye was the Hibachi. I had just been to Benihana last week, so I figured this would be a fun comparison and ordered the Hibachi Chicken. A few minutes later, my meal was brought out by the young lady working the counter--who also happened to be pregnant and absolutely glowing. She had the kind of upbeat, welcoming personality that instantly makes you feel like you made the right choice coming in. Friendly service goes a long way for me, and she turned what could've been just another quick meal into something memorable. The food itself was delicious. If you enjoy Benihana-style flavors, this hits the mark--minus the chef flipping shrimp tails into his hat. Let me start off by saying I might have just ordered the wrong things. I got sushi and my wife got the hibachi. Hibachi was good and the flavor was great. I got sushi and was not impressed. Salmon was meh & tuna was super fishy tasting. If you eat a lot of sushi you know raw fish shouldn't taste fishy if fresh. I tried their King Kong roll, was drenched in their sauce which wasn't super good and the crawfish was just so chewy. We had shrimp tempura as an appetizer which was super good & we had an order of crab rangoon which was mostly rangoon and little crab. On July 23, 2026, at approximately 7:00 PM, I visited Hashi Japanese Kitchen in Allen, Texas, to place a to-go order. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had, and I will never return. This was my third visit to this restaurant, and each time I have been struck by the cold, unfriendly atmosphere. The staff consistently come across as unwelcoming, unprofessional, and lacking basic customer service skills. This visit confirmed that I will never patronize this business again. The wait for my to-go order was unusually long. While waiting, I noticed two young employees behind the counter whispering to one another. It appeared that the employee who took my order was discussing the fact that I had not left the automatically suggested 18% tip. Whether that was the subject of their conversation or not, their behavior toward me afterward made me feel uncomfortable. While waiting, I briefly walked to the back area to see what condiment packets were available. I did not take or touch anything because there was nothing I wanted, and I returned to my seat. When my order was finally ready, the employee asked whether I had already gotten silverware or how many utensils I needed. She then handed me two plastic forks wrapped in a napkin. Since I had placed a to-go order, I asked why she had asked if I had already gotten silverware, as I wasn't dining inside the restaurant. "Her response was shocking. She told me that her boss had sent the staff a text message after seeing me on the security cameras because people had been taking their silverware. Given the timing and the context, it was clear that I was being treated as though I was suspected of taking something, which I found humiliating and deeply offensive. I was completely stunned and humiliated. Although she did not directly say, "You stole silverware," the implication was unmistakable. I had not taken anything, and I have never been accused of stealing in my life. To be treated with that level of suspicion without any basis was insulting and deeply offensive. I explained that I have lived in this community for more than 20 years and have always conducted myself with honesty and integrity. I asked to speak with the manager who had allegedly sent the message, but I was told he was not there. The entire interaction left me questioning why I was singled out. Given the timing of the employees' behavior after my tip selection, I could not help but wonder whether my decision not to leave the suggested 18% gratuity influenced how I was treated. Whether that was the case or not, I left feeling disrespected, embarrassed, and unfairly judged. Because of this experience, I was also uncomfortable eating the food I had just purchased, simply because my trust in the staff had been completely shaken. No customer should ever be made to feel like a suspected thief without cause. Respect, professionalism, and courtesy are the minimum expectations when patronizing at any establishment, and in my experience, Hashi Japanese Kitchen failed on all three. I will never return to this restaurant, and I will be sharing my experience with others so they can make an informed decision before choosing to dine here. When you first come in, you need a little guidance. But, it ends up you can order at the counter, a kiosk, or from the table. I ordered at the kiosk which I liked because I could read the roll descriptions etc. That being said, the staff was very friendly and attentive throughout our experience. The food was all delisted! We started with Gyoza, fried to a perfect crisp. Then we had the Phoenix Roll that was amazing! Then for the main courses which were Teriyaki Chicken and Teriyaki Tofu. Both were great! As we were ordering and people were leaving, they remarked to the staff how good the food and service was and that they'd be back.
