    Salmon Tower

RUN HERE NOW!! They just opened now under the name Sushi Hana and even though it's past the grand opening deals, they have half price for particular items for the next couple of weeks. SO GO and try lots on their menu for a good price!! I got the salmon tower and I don't think I've ever had a salmon tower but it was good! I could tell the salmon was a good cut and was super tasty. HOWEVER I think there was WAYY too much sauce on the plate because when I mixed it, it got super saucy that it overpowered all the other flavors. That is my only complaint. I will probably come back here to try their rolls because the fish quality is pretty solid. They also gave us free vanilla ice cream which was super nice, but it tasted kinda funny (not bad just different). Great service, super cool and attentive (a little too much but it's okay hehe). I wish I snagged a picture of the ceiling because it was beautiful. I found myself staring at it a lot during dinner, lovely flowers and lights. Next time!

The sushi here is great. Zero fishy smells and great new twists to some classic rolls. This place might be part of a strip mall but it is a well hidden secret of Plano. This place is a BYOB restaurant with no corkage fee. I tried 4 specialty rolls and they were all tasty and wonderful. The wife loved every one of the rolls as well, which if you are married, you know we found a unicorn of a place. The rolls came out quickly and were in pretty nice presentation. Service was quick maybe a little too quick but with a little tenure should be fine sooner than later.

Sushi Hana was amazing. The staff was really friendly and I loved watching Ace and Dave make the sushi fresh and right in front of me. The sushi was super fresh and really delicious. The decor and atmosphere inside is also really beautiful. Great for date night or groups. Highly recommend this spot

The food was amazing and the staff was very nice. It's reasonably priced and delicious. The restaurant itself is super cute.

Small place with good service. The food are good too. Will recommend this place to anyone.

    Tuna tower

My once favorite Akari sushi is now Sushi Hana. The restaurant has been redecorated and a new menu. Hubby got the tonkatsu bento and I got the tuna tower. The tuna tower could have been better: - About the same price as before. - Used to be large enough to share, but it is now an appetizer almost enough for one person. - The tuna is minced and no longer chunks of tuna. - The crab portion was stingy. - There was way too much sauce (meant for more of a western pallet.) - Had to ask for ginger and wasabi. Hubby said his bento box was lots better than my tuna tower. Seems like the sushi has changed for more western pallet than leaning on the authentic style.

Love this place. Been here a few times and it's been consistently excellent. The sushi chef Ace is the bomb. Service is very friendly family atmosphere.

Stopped in on a whim because the hubby and I were craving sushi. What a great neighborhood gem! The service was quick and friendly, the prices are reasonable, and all of the rolls we tried were fresh and delicious. Can't wait to come back!

    Miso soup ... very salty

Foods just ok, miso soup is so salty. I didn't know this place changed owner. First at the door I was not really welcome, waitress is so meant. She looks at me from head to toe, when I have order my foods she wasn't focus on what I order until I asked if she is ok? She said, she is thinking, ‍‍... they have free ice-cream but they didnt say anything and put random on the tray bill, that looks like they give you alms. Sorry i dont need your ice-cream.

Ordered take out. The sushi rolls are good and fine. The yaki udon was a big disappointment. A bowl of udon soaked in sauce.

Plano is close by and what I love about Yama in Plano is their specials. My work bestie and I love trying out their specials. We've tried so many great things on the menu. I strongly recommend the specials; whelk clam nigiri and soy butter rice octopus! They're giving "tenderism." An amazing classic is also the Teardrop roll. Salmon, tuna, yellowtail, with jalapeños and kizami. Chef's kiss. Melanie is also very kind and knows everyone as well. She's super well rounded. Food and service is great! Ambiance is also super chill especially if you're getting off a shift late at night!

Alaskan Roll: A classic roll that's perfect for salmon lovers. The price is standard for sushi in the area, and the portion size is generous. The roll was very fresh with great flavor. Eel Roll: This roll was good but definitely on the smaller side. However, it was still fresh, and the sauce was tasty. Chirashi: This dish was just okay. I'd recommend sticking to the rolls instead of the bowl. It came with one piece of each type of fish, almost like a sampler with a lot of rice.

I've been to Michelin starred omakases (including tempura omakases) in Japan and New York, and this place honestly meets or comes extremely close to fitting the bill in terms of food and service. At the Michelin restaurants, you pay almost double the price for high quality ingredients, stellar service, ambiance, and a Japanese toilet :P For $100 pp for the tempura omakase at Takumi Hachi, you leave feeling full and satisfied, with a great selection of light and deliciously fried fritters. Each person gets a bowl of their divinely delicious tempura sauce with a generous amount of shaved daikon (not even lying when i say this is my favorite tempura sauce i've had, i could've just drank it on its own) and a selection of salts, with each course given a recommendation of which salt to use. In terms of ambiance: frankly speaking, if it was just the counter service omakase, i'd say it would feel more stuffy and unapproachable. But there is a general seating area that is not counter service where you can order off the menu for sushi, robata, and a la carte options. No dress code enforced or recommended, so you can be dining with all sorts of patrons with different sizes of families and children. whether or not this is your jam, it's still an extremely accessible place to dine for anyone and everyone. Reservations were incredibly easy to make (tempura omakase only From Sunday thru Thursday). Service was really kind and attentive, my husband's water literally never went below half empty. The only thing to take service to the next level is if they cleaned/wiped your plate/gave you a new plate between each course. American toilet. Lol. That's neither here nor there, but the bathroom is very clean lol! They were also sweet enough to read my reservation note for the occasion for dining and gifted us a delicious strawberry mousse, accompanied with a surprise tableside matcha to end the meal. I'm already looking forward to try their kaiseki set meal next time, and know that this place is a top contender to take my friends or loved ones for special occasions. I can't speak much for their sushi, but I added on some robata and grill menu items to the omakase and they were fantastic. Highly recommend the maitake mushroom tempura add on to your course. If you order ebi sushi, they offer to take the head once you're done eating the sushi and either put it in a miso soup or fry it for you, which i thought was a wonderful option. Also, we got tempura anago, something I've never had anywhere else, served two different ways. That alone was enough to make this experience stand out. For an experience like I had tonight, I felt as if the restaurant should be more full. Maybe because it is tucked away behind the other chain restaurants in Addison that are a little easier to see. Don't hesitate if you see the price tag, I definitely think you get a great value for food, service, and experience. We were there for two hours and enjoyed it very much. Thank goodness i don't have to drive all the way to downtown Dallas to enjoy some delicious Japanese food without the headache and hassle of finding parking and an accessible reservation.

The left side/entrance area does have a bleach/cleaner type smell but I didn't notice it further into the restaurant. We did the Kaiseki Omakase. Staff is super friendly and explained every step of the experience. Like all courses meals - smaller portions but overall left super full. The clay pot was actually a huge portion as both of us ended up getting two bowls worth. Pacing of the meal was solid, kept it moving but didn't feel rushed at all. We were celebrating a birthday and they gave us a sweet treat as well at the end which was so appreciated! Would definitely recommend for a special occasion
