Ordered from Sushi Maru this afternoon for the first time. We ordered tuna, blue fin tuna, salmon, yellowtail, octopus rolls/sashimi. As well as the Philadelphia and caviar rolls. For apps, I got a salad and veggie tempura. Everything we had tasted extremely fresh and delicious! Blue fin tuna and yellowtail were my favorites. Salad was fresh and the dressy was delicious but not overbearing in flavor. All in all, a very delicious lunch and would love to order more items from their menu in the future! read more

Friendly staff and a in eclectic menu make this a nice addition to this Allen strip mall. The chicken gyoza we tried were crispy with delicate and nicely seasoned filling. We came here to try their lunch bento. The place is not busy, since we came in after 1:30 pm on a weekday. I ordered Salmon Teriyaki Bento and Wifey ordered Chicken Teriyaki Bento. They're delicious. Needed to do something different for lunch other then eating pho on a super hot summer day. Allen needed a place like this. Seating is limited, but certainly worth the wait for a table. A few times I've had to sit at the bar. This area is always stacked high with styrofoam to go boxes. The first time this happened, it left me unsure if I was to wait to order with a waitress or the chef. Much confusion! I don't think I will sit at the bar after these last few times. It's annoying looking through styrofoam boxes piled 4 feet high. I recommend waiting for a table till they make sitting at the bar more pleasurable. The pieces of sushi are thick and worth the price. My bill, most times with a tip, are between $30-$35 dollars. Water only too! Hubby brought me home some items from the take home menu. Personally, I suggest you eat any sushi fresh when it's made. Otherwise, its not pretty, still good, although the pieces become shriveled in the fridge after a couple of hours. Mine looked like slugs....Unappealing for sure! We came in for a lunch and we were pleasantly surprised by how good the rolls were. The house rolls are a bargain for how large they are. These are certainly not your average sized rolls that you would expect. They aren't HUGE but they are certainly chunky boys. The speciality rolls might seem a little high on the cost but they do not go easy on the ingredients that are in them. Overall, we were very satisfied with our lunch and we will be back. I went here at about mid afternoon on a Thursday and I would have to say they were steadily busy. It was pretty easy however to find parking and the service was great. The staff were really friendly and very attentive to your needs. The restaurant itself was very clean and is a great spot to go out with friends for lunch. I ended up getting one California roll and one Texas Roll. I really love California rolls so I really enjoyed this however for the Texas roll I wasn't a big fan. They both however were big portions and I was only able to eat half of both. It was about $30.00 for both which was not too bad - they do have lunch specials but it is only for certain items on the menu. Definitely can see myself going back here again! read more

this place is SO good. their rolls are the biggest I have ever seen (and I eat a LOT of sushi). their fish is so fresh. the restraining is small, can probably seat about 40ish people but it is so clean and it's nice and quiet. we had the sushi burrito, philadelphia roll, panic roll, some sort of shrimp crunchy roll, and the spicy yellow tail. this place is really great because the speciality rolls are worth the money. they are actually somehow bigger than the regular rolls. i love this place. i will 10000% be back. the waitress even warned us that the rolls are big, and she was so right. one of the best spots in DFW for sure. read more

Don't overlook this little sushi spot. It's located in a strip mall and can be easy to miss, but the food here is excellent. The server warned us that the rolls are enormous - challenge accepted! Everything was delicious. We didn't have to wait to be seated at 7:30 on Friday night, nor did we need to wait very long for the food to arrive. This place is great. We got vegetable tempura as an appetizer & it was the crispiest & freshest I have had maybe ever? They also gave tempura dipping sauce which you don't normally get at a lot of restaurants!! That was very pleasant. We also got the combo fried rice, a dragon roll, a cherry blossom roll, yellowtail & egg sushi & a miso soup. All were phenomenal, but I want to call out the Dragon Roll in particular for being warm, delicious, fresh, and full. They definitely do not skimp on portions or fillings in the sushi here! & The food comes out FAST!! Yep, I will definitely come back. Just wanted to flag though that you might have to be patient with the staff if you come while it is busy- the place is small & I only saw two servers in the whole restaurant. Nice small cozy spot. Super clean, service is good. The menu has quite a bit to choose from. I came in solo, like I often do and ordered quite a bit to try. The waitress was like are you sure? That's a lot of food... so yeah note to the waitress don't question how much someone orders. The portions are super hefty, which is rare with sushi; so that's a plus as in getting your money's worth in sushi. The presentation is very lovely. I ordered my favorite nigiri sushi; albacore, salmon and scallops spicy. (The scallops were good, but this place doesn't chop the scallops up and mix in a spicy sauce like I usually get it) I ordered the heart attack roll, which was tasty but plain. I assumed there would be more fish in it but it was mainly crabmeat and cream cheese, so for the price and description, that one was disappointing... but huge portions. The mussels were delicious, the miso soup was good as well. I also ordered a cherry blossom roll; that I misread.... Thought it didn't come with rice.... But it does. It was okay, didn't really taste the mustard sauce that was advertised on the description. (Note the sauce was served on the side; just never got to me) I do love that they serve pickled cucumbers and radishes with the sushi. All in all, I'd definitely come back to try their cooked food and try some other sushi. But unfortunately the two I ordered today weren't the greatest. read more
