I brought in two other companies to look at my issues and they made it sound like complete doom and gloom. 70 year old cast iron pipes don't bode well, but the quotes they gave me for PVC replacements were outlandish. Then the folks at Walsh Brothers came in, gave me a reasonable quote, and fixed pretty much all of my serious plumbing issues. The pipes even look good! All it took was for someone to get a little creative with the layout of my house and figure out an alternative solution, which they were able to do. Three months later and my plumbing is doing just fine. I'm super happy I chose Walsh Brothers because I feel I was treated with respect (i.e. not gouged for money) and my issues were fixed quickly and efficiently.

I tried to urge him to look at the other problems, but he declined, saying that he was not familiar with my brand of fixture hardware; and, thus, he could not investigate. The brand is actually called "California Faucets" and I would think a plumber, worth his credentials, would be able to deal with just about any clogging issue. Apparently not. So, now I have to hire another plumber to get my sink and tub drains flowing freely. Lesson learned: Be skekptical of a plumbing company's advertising! Thus, the 2.8 current quality rating via Yelp. P.S. As an aside, I asked the plumber about his newish battery-operated device that extended as far as six feet into a toilet and effectively (after a few tries) blasted through the obstruction in the piping. He told me it was very expensive, costing around $400...enough to discourage a homeowner from purchasing one, but encouraging the homeowner to call a plumber. I looked into buying such and found out that it really sells for around $100, definitely worth the price to a homeowner.

It was a matter of taking the faucet off and replacing a washer filter. The second project was the dripping toilet. Blais said that it was a faulty flapper and he didn't have the part but would run to the Lowe's to get one. A BASIC flapper and he didn't have one with him!! I asked - before he went to Lowe's - to tell me how much the project would be. He said $300!!! for a detachable flapper and a washer in a shower where I provided the part?! I said never mind, he was free to leave. He said he knew what the going rate was and his price was fair. I told him "Fair or not, I'm not paying $300 for a 15 minute job and especially since you kept me waiting for 5 hours." Blais said "What do you care, you work from home! " I asked his name and he told me but then asked if I was leaving a review. I said I probably would. He then offered to do the whole job for free as long as I promised not to leave a review! As if I'd trust him to do anything ever in my home!! I asked him to leave and he started yelling that I was going to ruin a man's business and livelihood over being late and expensive! (You can't make this stuff up!) I had to sternly demand that he leave my home at once!!! He did. And I then fixed the shower in 10 minutes on my own. The next day I bought a $17 Fluidmaster kit and fixed the toilet MYSELF! He had misdiagnosed the problem. It wasn't the flapper, it was the gasket. So for $17 and 30 minutes of my time, I save $300. The lady who answers the phone (Blaise's wife) is very professional and considerate and accommodating And apologetic. But Blais behaved horribly, was irresponsible and inconsiderate in 5 hours tardiness, was rude to expect me to be inconvenienced in such a way because I work from home, and didn't even diagnose the problem properly! Thank you, YouTube and DIY channel. It has liberated women like nothing else has! I'll never call Done Right again!

The technician barely looked at the job for 30 seconds before giving me what I felt was an outrageous quote. After I posted a review, the owner contacted me and made things right, so I changed my review and decided to give the company another chance. Unfortunately, that was a mistake. I recently had an emergency and needed my sewer ejector pump replaced. The technician quoted me $3,571 just to replace the existing pump with a new one. I had already agreed to the replacement when he came back and told me the owner wanted to replace all of the existing piping as well because they said a 2-inch line was needed to meet current code. I said no--and thank God I did. I found the same pump at Harbor Freight for $119. I called another plumber, who installed it in about 45 minutes and charged me $250 for the installation. My total cost: $369. Done Right's quote: $3,571. Difference: $3,202. I understand that businesses need to make a profit and that emergency plumbing work isn't cheap, but there is a huge difference between $369 and $3,571 for the same basic pump replacement. I gave this company a second chance after the owner made things right the first time. After this experience, there will not be a third.
