Crispy friend chicken, Delicious Dipping Sauce and naan.
    Raphael V.

Stopped for lunch recently. We were looking for BBQ chicken wings but the place down the street no longer served them. We walked down and ordered. Food was delivered quickly and the chicken was SO crispy. The dipping sauce was very good! Service was friendly and efficient. Sitting outside was nice-people watching and enjoying the nice weather.

Came for lunch, Food was awesome. Good service. We got the curry for 4 and shared with the 3 of us, we were very full. No regrets. The chicken was so crispy!

I wasn't sure what to expect when my friends suggested Hat Yai for a meet-up, but I have to say I was impressed. I got the muu hong, which is pork belly and a fried egg over rice. It was very simple but done well. The pork had a strong cinnamon flavor, which was tasty and helped bring everything together. I will say that wished the pork was a little less dry, but it was still tasty and filling. I also got a hibiscus lime slushy, which was bright and refreshing. The slushy had more hibiscus flavor and wasn't too sweet. I think it was a good drink to pair with everything due to the lighter flavor. My friend got the Hat Yai Pineapple daiquiri, which she really enjoyed. I think that it was a bit on the sweeter side, and the pineapple came through well. Then the Hat Yai for 2 had a good portion size. The chicken was moist with a crispy outside. It paired well with the sticky rice, curry, and roti. Honestly, I think the seasoning on all the food was really good, and I appreciate the cinnamon flavor, which is something I'm not used to, but it adds a nice warmth to the dish. The staff were attentive when we were ordering and very friendly. The overall aesthetic of the restaurant was very cute. It's a bit small, but there is also outdoor seating for a nicer day. My friends and I were able to stay there for a long time, catching up over food, which we were able to share family style.

So glad we found this place! Everything we ordered was amazing, but the Pad Thai wrapped in egg was definitely my favorite! The crab curry with roti, fried chicken, and pork rice bowl were all so flavorful too. The food was fresh, the service was great, and I'll definitely be coming back the next time I'm in Portland. Highly recommend!

Delicious! You'll want an extra side of curry it's so good. Hat Yai for 2 was plenty of food for me and a friend. Service was fast and our food came out quickly. Cute spot. If they remove the bus your own table policy outside I will update to 5 stars :)

southern Thai spot - ordered the braised chicken thigh in curry with roti for a late lunch and I was so impressed with how good this meal was for the price! The curry was delicious and the chicken was tender and falling off the bone. I loved the roti it came with (seasoned and came out warm), great easy spot to eat at

Ordered from uber eats and now I NEED to go in person ! Chicken was sooooo crispy, curry delicious. The garlic chicken sauce was soooooo tasty!!!! And the roti was so crisp and buttery. Honestly such a good meal.

I can't believe it took me so long to come here - this meal was INCREDIBLE. I love how straightforward the menu is - making it super easy to pick. I got their Hat Yai Iced Coffee - super cool flavors but they definitely are on the sweeter side, so you may need to ask for a heavier coffee pour if you need a caffeine boost. Since it was my first time here I decided to stick to what they're known for so I got their Fried Chicken Set. Every individual item on the plate was incredible and unique and then you start combining bites and your mind is blown even further.

We had a relatively easy walk-in experience for a group of 3 on a Sunday evening. The space is almost like a long hallway but very nicely arranged and decorated. You order up at the counter and the food came out pretty fast. The food is the perfect comfort meal especially on a cold and rainy day! We loved the curry and roti, often mixing it with other things we ordered. The roti was very soft snd flaky. The chicken was fried perfectly and so juicy inside. We probably should've gotten a whole chicken instead of half! The brisket curry had a decent spice levels, and the beef was quite tender. My friend visiting from out of town said they could definitely see themselves coming here weekly if they lived here!

We shared the Hat Yai Combo for 2, and it was pretty tasty. It came with roti, sticky rice, chicken, and curry sauce which is the perfect comfort food. I wished the chicken was a bit juicier though, I found it to be a bit dry. If I lived in Portland, I could definitely see myself coming here often. Since we arrived right when they opened, service was quick, and there was ample seating available for dining in. Definitely recommend!

Another fantastic Thai option in Portland. Got the fried chicken for 2 along with the brisket curry. The chicken has an amazingly crunchy exterior with a sweet delicious sauce. The roti was crispy and paired with the house curry. The brisket was a bit tough but the green curry ut came with was delicious. Service was friendly and plenty of searing both inside and out.

We were visiting a friend in Portland and saw this place on all of the "must eat when you're in Portland" lists. We waited maybe 30 minutes for a table, gave us time to walk around, grab some water, order. We found parking around the corner pretty easily. We decided on the fried chicken set, southern pad thai, and mango sticky rice between the three of us. Wow, that chicken was perfectly crispy. The flavors were on-point. The curry was delicious, the roti perfectly held everything together. I didn't eat the rice, but my fellow diners enjoyed the texture and taste. The Southern Pad Thai was good as well. My friend decided to sparsely mix in the peppers so as to accomodate all spice tolerances. I wound up mixing more in, not the whole thing, mind you. Would recommend slowly mixing it in. Mango sticky rice was simple and delicious. I would absolutely come back. Now I need to find a place near me that offers hat yai chicken!

Between the vibrant energy, outstanding service, and incredible depth of flavor across every single plate, it completely lives up to its reputation. Arranged Marriage Cocktail (5/5): A super fun, balanced drink with a great zing and zest from the ginger and lemon that lightens up the richness of the amaro without feeling overwhelming. Sweet & Sour Fried Chicken (5/5): Ordered the small portion (6 pieces of boneless fried chicken), which served as a perfect crisp starter. The chicken is juicy, crispy, and packed with flavor. It was great either as an extra side of protein or a standalone dish. White Curry with Brisket Burnt-Ends (5/5): While $24 might initially seem a bit steep for curry, it's worth every penny and all the hype. The curry base features a rich coconut flavor paired with a surprisingly comfortable heat. It was loaded with tender and flavorful brisket burnt-ends along with huge cauliflower florets. Smoked Pork Krapao (5/5): super well-balanced. The smoked savoriness of the tender pork pairs with a crispy fried egg, fresh veggies, and the deep umami saltiness of the fish sauce. Logistics Tip: Expect a lively, energetic atmosphere with upbeat music that gives the restaurant a fun club-like vibe. A Friday evening visit for a party of two surprisingly had a quick 30-minute wait, which is easily spent exploring the safe, walkable neighborhood until we got a text notification. Both main entrees include a generous side of rice, making the meal very filling. Parking in the immediate area is somewhat limited, so plan to park a block or two down the road.

We ended up seating outside on the patio at a table for four with an extra chair. The inside of the restaurant can get pretty loud, so if you're looking for a more quiet dining experience, I would certainly recommend requesting a table outdoors. Between the five of us, we ordered a large order of their BBQ fried rice, a large order of their sweet and sour fried chicken, white curry with brisket burnt ends, and wok fried yu choy. This ended up being plenty of food and we even had leftovers to take home as well. If you need any recommendations from the menu, your server will be more than happy to provide options. Of the dishes we ordered, the one I enjoyed the most was the sweet and sour fried chicken. The boneless chicken thighs were incredibly juicy and the exterior was craggly, crispy, crunchy and well-seasoned. Like good fried chicken, the dish did not taste oily at all. The other dish I really enjoyed was the brisket fried rice. You really can taste the "wok hei" in this dish. There's a smokey, charred flavor in every bite and they're really generous with how much brisket is used in the dish as well. The only critique I had food-wise is I thought the burnt ends in the white curry were a bit dry and a little tough. The cut of brisket was too lean so it didn't have the melt in your mouth texture you typically associate with slow cooked BBQ. That said, my experience as a whole at Eem was otherwise incredible. Service was fantastic, cocktails were creative and well-balanced, and pricing was well in line with expectations. Definitely would stop by again for a meal.
