Heard about this place and had to take the drive to see what it was all about. At first I thought the GPS had made a misdirection because we were headed into an industrial park but it was correct. Nestled in an industrial park is a hidden gem. The smoker outside confirmed that we had pulled up to the right location. When you first walk in you notice the decor. It's a collection of different finds from license plates to cheeky signs. The ribs were recommended as a specialty... They fell off the bone and practically melted in my mouth. Needless to say I was in carnivore heaven. French fries were perfectly seasoned... No need for sauces or additional seasoning. Also had the erasure of trying a burger with thick cut bacon, beer cheese, and I tasted a hunt of BBQ cooked in. Overall a very successful venture to find a new eating spot. This place is beyond cool and the food is to come here everyday. First it is easy to miss. The restaurant is in a storage warehouse place. You can miss it but open your car window and let your nose find it. That smell you know is barbecue made with love. Once inside you will find a homey place very laid back. The owner use to work at Home Depot and decided to open this place and Miami is the better for it. Now the food, let's start beer, they have a great selection of local beers a board with about 40. It gives you a reason to come in 40 more times. I had the smoked ribs and it was the biggest half order I have had ever. The ribs were perfect with a slightly sweet sauce without going overboard. I am more of a NC vinegar sauce but this was great. They have breakfast and if they are not busy the chef will make crisp pork belly on french toast with egg on top or if they have not sold out of the brisket the previous day you can have brisket with eggs. If you've reached a warehouse park that makes you wonder "did Siri direct me to the wrong place" you're probably at Hate Mondays. It's a dimly lit hole-in-the-wall serving a modest menu of mostly burgers and barbecue. Coming inside we were surprised at the number of people in such a small place--it appeared they have regulars. Service was decent, it was small enough that one waitress takes care of the whole restaurant. Might have been a bad day as it was raining and a leak in the roof had her cleaning most of the time. Food was actually quite good, we both had their signature burger which comes on what seemed like a glazed donut-type sweet roll. We also had corn nuggets and onion rings, which would have been amazing had they been dipped in real ketchup. Huge turn-off. Just invest in a little Heinz for the love of god! read more

He is turning out some amazing BBQ and a burger that deserves its own paragraph named the Monday Remedy burger. This is burger porn! I will warn all that read this and decide to try one to make sure you get your Lipitor prescription filled or make it your last meal for the day. It is rich, greasy, messy and drippy and most of all Amazing! It consists of what I'd estimate a 6-8 oz beef patty, two healthy slices of magnificently smoked pork belly, caramelized onions and an insanely delicious cheese sauce made with jalapeños and beer. This sauce needs to be bottled and sold worldwide it's so damn good. Let's just say you could smother a flip flop with this stuff and you'd devour it. The kicker is the glazed doughnut that is used as the vessel to contain all this gastronomic insanity together. WOW is all I can say. The smoked chicken wings can trigger multiple mouthgasms due to their deep smoky flavor coupled with the hot sauce and bbq sauce they baste them with. Last but certainly not least is a paragraph all dedicated to my server Jemily; the most bubbly and enthusiastic server I've ever had anywhere. A hidden gem in Kendall! This is a cozy hole in the wall (literally!), but you can't help but fall in love with its charm and the yummy food. I was blown away by the Remedy burger, which was also the winner of the 2018 Hamburger House Party (well deserved!). His smoked wings are also the best wings I've ever had. The only reason I am giving this a 4 star is because the second time I went for the smoked wings came out really charred- looked burnt- which was unlike the first time, but I was also there at a time when they were packed with people so that could have been it. I trust in the quality of the food and the experience is always a good one with how sweet and welcoming the staff are. Things you HAVE to try at Hate Mondays are the award winning burger and his onion rings, which are nice and crunchy! Perfectly fried! I also HIGHLY enjoyed the media noche sandwich with pulled pork. Be on the lookout for his daily specials too, like Oxtail Wednesdays and Brisket Fridays. And if you have time, there's a little sentence on the menu about asking for one his surprise specials. Hate Mondays is definitely foodie approved! Just be sure to double check their schedule since they close earlier than most places (and they are closed on Sundays). This place is such an experience! When I walked in I feel like I was walking into a saloon, the tavern has such an immense old-Western feel. I had a Philly cheesesteak and it was delectable I still think about it till this day. My girlfriend had pulled barbecue pork sandwich and she genuinely enjoyed it so much. The place is so awesome, there's some inappropriate memorabilia (that will make you laugh out loud) but besides that there is just countless police and fire fighter memorabilia on the wall. it's definitely a sight to see. Had lunch at Hate Mondays Tavern on Saturday afternoon. Ended up ordering the Chicken Wings and a Combo Platter of Pulled Pork and Brisket. Quality Some of my best barbecue experiences have come from random smokers and grills set up on sidewalk corners. No seats, no sides, just piles of meat in a styrofoam container. My meal at Hate Mondays Tavern reminded me a lot of that. In the parking lot of the restaurant, you will find a massive grill set up, spreading the delicious smells of barbecue across the complex. Inside they hand you a menu, but you are meant to eat what the chef is cooking up. For me that meant a Combo Platter of Pulled Pork and Brisket along with some Chicken Wings. The Pulled Pork was amazing. Soft, melt in your mouth meat that had amazing flavor. The Brisket, which was made the day before was a little tough, but still it was impossible to deny the great taste. And the Chicken Wings were the biggest surprise of all. I ordered them expecting your standard wings and got incredible smoked wings. They absorbed all the great flavor and had this delightful rub on them. Just follow the chef and order what is fresh, and you are bound to enjoy your meal. Quantity The food I ordered ended up being three meals worth. The Chicken Wings were huge and juicy, while the Combo Platter of Pulled Pork and Brisket was a massive serving of barbecue heaven. Based on the other dishes I saw roll out of the kitchen the only one that was disappointing in stature was the burger, but I got the impression it makes up for it in taste. Value The menu prices are absurd. For the quality and quantity of food served up you can't beat the deal. Some of the off-menu meat items are a little pricier, such as the ribs and the brisket. Still though, they are extremely competitive in comparison to other barbecue joints. Ambiance Hate Mondays Tavern is found in a small warehouse area in the far reaches of Kendall. It is literally a restaurant set up in a storage unit. A fake building exterior exists setting it apart from the other units, but it is the last thing you would expect. Inside you are met with the great barbecue that is being cooked right in the parking lot. It is a very dark space and was quite the transition coming in from a sunny afternoon. A few small tables are set up across the cramped space, and near the front is a counter for take-out. The inside area has been decorated with all sorts of gear and souvenirs collected over the years. Roadsigns, license plates, beer advertisements, and a little bit of everything else. In the background they were playing a freestyle playlist that could not have been more Miami. It is just a unique restaurant that is overflowing with character. Crowd The restaurant is not big, but they had a constant flow of people stopping in on Saturday afternoon. Every table was in use and several people had no choice but to take food to-go. I imagine weekday lunch is even worse, because this did not seem like a heavily populated area on the weekend, when most nearby businesses were closed. I'd advise to come at off-peak hours to avoid the rush. Service Chef and grillmaster Karl is an incredible guy. Extremely friendly and someone who really cares about the food he makes. That said, make sure you visit with an open-mind. You will no doubt end up getting some delicious barbecue, but you may not get exactly what you planned. The meat and the sides run out and they will substitute in other things as appropriate, but that may dissuade some of the pickier eaters. Also, don't be surprised if the servers make changes to your meal without your input. In the end the food placed in front of me was great, it just was not what I originally expected nor what I ordered. Parking The restaurant shares parking with the other units and businesses in the warehouse space. On the weekend it was no problem finding a spot, but I imagine it would be busier during the week. Extra Hate Mondays Tavern is solid barbecue where you would least expect it. And you will come out enjoying your food as long as you come in with an open mind and a healthy appetite. I'll start by saying this is one of the best barbecue spots in Miami. The place is hidden inside a small warehouse and although tiny (has a total of 6 tables I believe), their ambience and decor gives it a very nice homey touch. The parking lot is kind of crammed up so you're better off driving here in a smaller car. We came on a Saturday at 1:50 PM so we expected to wait a bit in line, especially since they close early on Saturdays, 3:47 PM. We were instructed to wait in our car and would be notified when a table was available. After 20 minutes we were seated. The service here is outstanding. The waiters are very friendly and check up on you every 5 minutes, I'm not kidding, I guess it's an advantage to the place being so small. Their beer selection is huge! 80 craft beers to be exact. We ordered the corn nuggets and large fries for appetizers. The portions were incredibly big, could have ordered the small fries instead and it would definitely be enough for 2 to share. The corn nuggets were delicious! A must try here for sure. We then ordered a full rack of the smoked ribs and the smoked brisket. The ribs were very tender and fell off the bone. They were good, however a bit too smoky which overpowered the actual taste of the meat itself in my opinion. The brisket tasted amazing but was a little too overdone. Prices here are reasonable, especially considering their portions are big. To conclude my review... is it worth the hype? Absolutely. One of the better barbecue places you will find and the armosphere is so relaxed, you'll find your whole family enjoying the spot. read more

Great hidden gem / hole in the wall place...especially for BBQ. Most places just overload their food with sauces to give it flavor. Here, the meat was falling off the bone. The took a few bites without the sauce to truly determine the quality and it was spot on. Not too smokey and with enough flavor to enhance the meat. Everybody there was friendly. I showed up for lunch and had to wait a few minutes for a table to open up. They offered me something to drink while waiting. They even apologized for having me wait....which was no big deal. While eating, the waitress came by several times to check up on my... everytime with a smile even though it was full and she was running around. The cook (owner??) came out one or twice to check up on everybody's food and make sure they were being taken care of. When I was leaving, the chef came out again and made sure I was happy with the good. Clearly, not only was the food awesome but the service was great. The only complaint, which is really not a complaint (lol), is that it only holds about 18 people - a true hole in the wall place. However, they are already doing the buildout for the place next door so in the near future, it should only closer to 50 people or more. Looks like I found my BBQ place. read more

Some of the best food places are off the beaten path in unexpected places. My Miami foodie friend had heard about Hate Mondays and we finally had a chance to get together for lunch. Don't doubt your google maps, it is located in a commercial warehouse area. But the smell of the smoker will help you locate the place. Your order must have something smoked. We started with the smoked salmon dip - phenomenal. There were this little corn fritters side that had just the right mix of sweet corn and crisp fritter. I don't think we left any meat on the smoked ribs (With an amazing spice rub) as the meat fell off the bones. Wings were one piece drums and wing and smoked salmon can be made as soft tacos. The talented chef was present and interactive with his customers. Love his passion for creating new flavors and dishes. Call ahead for hours. From the conversation we had with the server, they are modifying hours and trying to add dinner times. Right now lunch is the best. The brisket did not taste and look like traditional brisket. First time I have a brisket that pulled like pulled pork. The ribs were dry and cold and tasted and looked they were infused with liquid smoke instead of actually being cooked in a smoker . The chicken wings were ok but needed some kind of sauce. I will not be coming here again or recommend it.
