I can't believe it took me this long to get to Hauck's! My husband and I came for a late lunch/beer date on a beautiful Sunday. Part of what makes Hauck's so great is the seating-indoor, outdoor, table, picnic tables, swings...you name it, they got it! We tried a couple of sours recommended by the awesome bartender and they were so good. We also got the pretzel which was huge and delicious with that house made beer cheese. My husband had the wings and fries which were both fabulous, and I had the fish tacos. The fish was amazing but the tacos were a little too saucy for me (just personal preference!). You may wait a while for your food but it's worth it! Needless to say, we will be back! read more

I'm gonna start with... the blandest slop in town. Go down the street to 4 Pegs. No acknowledgement when walking in. No acknowledgement on delivery. No bar seats. No table service. Can someone tell the smug, try hard bartender to put on a REAL metal shirt? Can someone tell the cook to not serve coleslaw with a shovel?! Been here a few times, now it's time to finally review this place. This actually used to be a hardware store until it closed some years ago and the owner passed away in 2020. Now this is a thriving restaurant and bar, very happy to know this just isn't a building sitting around and going to waste. Located on Goss Ave in the same building for many many years. I have been with my friend a couple of times already and we are in love with this place, it is amazing that a building that has many years on it has changed over time. Coming in here and seeing old furniture and old signs, old signs remind me of stepping into Jerry's Diner an old Louisville staple now long gone. We have always ate inside vs. outside. Here, you order at the bar and they give you a buzzer (Note, no table service here) once the buzzer goes off you go outside to a food truck like thing and they hand you your food. The food here is amazing, already had the Smash Burger and Chicken and Waffle sandwich. I'm tied between the 2 so I can't really pick one over the other. The fries are out of this world. Seasoned to perfection and crinkled. We have yet to try the cocktails here. Outside is also awesome and it's not like any other patio seating in Louisville. Just come see for yourself, I don't want to give away too much in this review. Love the staff here, the atmosphere and the outside seating. Stopped in for a quick beer and realized this place was more than I bargained for. They have an extensive outdoor seating areas and game area in the rear of the bar. They share this space with like 3 other restaurants. Cornhole, jenga, ping pong and other games are available to play. Got a pound of smoked wings, well worth the extra dollar on the menu. lol. Hauck's is a cool spot that has done a good job blending old timey feel with a more contemporary vibe in back. There's a lot of history persevered on the walls to commemorate the neighborhood and old market. It has an enormous back patio with lots of seating and little knick knacks for kids to play with and on - like merry go rounds, see saws, etc. For adults who want to chill over a few drinks, there's plenty of space far from kids in little corners or nooks. There's an extensive sandwich and bar food menu - I tried the spicy chicken, which was crispy and wells seasoned. Not so spicy, but cooked nicely and had a little zip of flavor. The crinkle fries were yummy and not from a gross bag of frozen tots. I'd go back to try their smash burger and enjoy another summer night on the patio. read more

Fun place and good food! You order at the bar, and they give you a buzzer for you to pick it up at the food truck in the back. They have indoor, outdoor, and covered patio seating. We ordered some draft beers first and sat at the open air seating by the bar. We got our food quick and it was all fantastic.I've never seen vegan chorizo and potato tacos anywhere, so I ordered those with sweet potato fries. Everything was so good! My husband got the bologna sandwich with slaw. It was thick cut and griddle fried with an egg on top. He said it was very good and hit the spot! Love the new remodel! I met my friends for drinks and we sat outside on the patio. There is nothing better than sitting on a porch swing with a well-made old fashioned. Came in to give this place a shot as I live in the neighborhood. We ordered the brisket eggrolls the chicken BLT, and the chicken quesadilla. The egg rolls were soggy on the outside and dry on the inside. The flavor was just liquid smoke. The chicken quesadilla was bland and the sauces was the only saving grace. Not even sure about the cheese on it. The Chicken BLT was not that great. 2 overcooked chicken tenders on a plan bun with chewy bacon was not great. Under seasoned food and waited almost 40 minutes to get the food. A lot better options within walking distance. read more

Went for their open house during the Dainty Fest - it's not quite ready for prime time, but all signs point to it being one of my fav new spots for a casual drink with friends. The bar is lovely, keeping many vintage elements from Hauck's Handy Store. There are two roomsinside, one with clippings of George Hauck, Dainty competitions and other Schnitzelburg memorabilia. The other is garage style with doors that open when weather allows. The patio is gigantic and has multiple spaces including a collection of porch swings, a lawn in front of a stage and plenty of space to spread out and mingle. They have a nice variety of drafts (obviously Hauck's Pilsner from Monnik), canned beer/seltzers/ciders and basic bar offerings. Cannot wait to return! They have a stationary food truck (didn't eat during this visit but the bologna sandwich sounds incredible). And the alley has room for guest trucks in the future! read more

We popped in to check out the renovations last week and were amazed. We had no idea about the outside area in the back that is huge. We had just had dinner in the neighborhood and wanted to check it out and were so glad we did. The indoor space in not very big but the renovations are amazing. It is no longer a little neighborhood grocery and deli but a cool neighborhood bar, eatery and hang out spot. Loved the outdoor area where there is ample seating and fun decorations. Also, a food truck that I assume is a permanent addition to the outdoor area. The folks were friendly and since we didn't eat or drink I can attest to the food/beverage offerings but we will be back to have a drink and some food. Cool spot. read more

As Schnitzelburg residents, we love the history of our neighborhood and we were excited to take our kids to Hauck's Corner. It's eclectic. It has garage doors, street signs, stained glass lamps, bead-board ceilings, exposed brick, little nooks with corner tables, upholstered chairs, retro bar stools, light up beer signs, and a fun fabulous patio that almost gives off it Lynn's Paradise Cafe vibes but offers a lot more. The patio has cornhole, a playground with slides and swings, chalkboards, mist to help beat the heat. It's huge. It's colorful and has a unique energy unlike anywhere else I've been in Louisville. There's a food truck outback and the menu is extensive. The service was friendly and efficient. I ordered a basket of crinkle fries, described as being served with a malt vinegar aioli and roasted garlic aioli. Also, pork belly tacos with slow roasted crispy pork belly, avocado crema, Hauck's sauce, pickled red onion, queso fresco, and corn tortillas. I ordered macaroni and cheese for my side. I did not get roasted garlic aioli, but tried another when I inquired about it. The truffle aioli was phenomenal. The macaroni and cheese was outstanding and the pork belly was crispy. I tend to find it flabby and the texture unappealing, but these were delicious. I ordered a glass of Prosecco. It was refreshing, cold, but maybe a bit less bubbly than I'm use to. I'm hyped about this place and having it in our neighborhood makes it a potential spot to be in our regular rotation. I can't imagine it not coming to mind now that we're having cooler patio nights with the changing seasons. This is perfect spot to get together with friends, for celebrations, or even playdates. I really liked the ambiance. It is connected to a few other businesses with a shared backyard space. Great for families with lots of activities for kids. The fries were delicious if you like seasoned fried. If not, you might think it is too much. I had the smoked bologna sandwich and my friend had the chicken sandwich. Portions were huge. My wife and I had just drppped off people attending the Louder than Life event and meandered toward this area looking for a place to eat. Everyone has heard of Hauck's Corner, particularly as a longtime neighborhood bar, but my wife and I weren't familiar with their food service. It's still a bar but it offers food on the side too. It's typical bar food with a tweak or two. We both had the star spangled burger. Mine was the real deal but my wife ordered her's plain. Both were good and a hearty size. I recently visited Hauck's and it was overall a positive experience, if I had a critique it would most certainly be the price vs food ratio or possibly the ordering and food pickup process. We ordered the chicken and waffle sandwich and smoked wings, to share both priced around $15 dollars. You order at the bar and pickup in the back of the restaurant at a fun looking food stand installation... this was not very clear, but no biggie. You are presented with a paging device and then You can sit and drink until it buzzes etc.. We got the signal and I wandered to the rear where I found two nice ladies hanging in the window. One warned this sandwich is a mess to eat so have plenty of napkins, and then they handed me the wings and said I f I needed anything else to let them know. The sandwich was about the size of the palm of my hand and yes covered in a whitish sauce, the wings looked like what you would expect but were room temperature at best. Both item were tasty, and aside from not being hot were well prepared.... All this said waffles are not expensive to make or difficult to prepare so 15 bucks is maybe a little too rich for my blood. We loved this joint. This is the quintessential local dive. The food was good and so was the vibe. I highly recommend the chicken sandwich. They have a nice outdoor area, which is especially great if you have kids. My only complaint is that everything was open to the outside - which made the flies a bit annoying. Fabulous dog-friendly outdoor space! Definitely perfect neighborhood meet up spot. They do have several vegetarian options. The only other wish I could have is for some gluten free options, but they were able to make my sister a Brat on a lettuce wrap which was solid. read more

There is a nice seating area in the middle of the bar for a large group of people and a pac man machine. Huge tv where we got to catch some March madness. Love this revamped retro bar in Germantown! We were there on a rainy Monday & the chill vibe was perfect. The bartender said the weekends get crazy so I can't wait to go back. We came here for a night cap and ended up staying for a couple drinks & some fries. They have quite a few drink & food options. I didn't get to take pictures of the menu. Staff was nice and made orders a breeze. We got montucky cold snacks for a decent price and cold, later on in the night I ordered fries, they gave me my handy buzzer and told me where to pick up in the back and its a Food Truck attached at the back! There was additional seating as well. Fries were well seasoned & crispy, we were given some dipping sauces options which was nice. We love how they preserve a lot of the original store that it use to be and kept a lot of memorabilia around. When my first choice for dinner turned out to be closed, I turned here to see about the all new Haucks. The interior is great, so open and awesomely designed. I was not a huge fan of the whole "order at the bar and then pick your order up at the other end of the restaurant" but it worked out and was fine. I ordered a "Cuban" sandwich which was nothing more than a ham sandwich on a fluffy sub roll with some pickles. Tasted fine but not at all what I was expecting. I ordered the Smoked Brisket egg roll but was too full to eat it then, so I took it home. It was fine heated up the next day but since I didn't eat it when it was freshly made I won't factor it into my rating. The Jalapeno Poppers were great, they were huge and tasty. Not really spicy but thats OK. I would like to come back to try the famous bologna sandwich and maybe come at a time when it isn't jam packed with people, but so far you are OK with me, Haucks. read more

I've only been there for a drink before we went to dinner at another fine restaurant down the street but love the atmosphere in the place. Bar is self service. You order at the bar and have to retrieve your food and serve yourself. Ruben was totally un-edible. Rubber corn beef mixed with tasteless sauerkraut and shredded cheese. Very tough and tasteless. Onion rings undercooked. My partner had a burger that was average and fries way overcooked. Drinks are overpriced and definitely suggest you check them before ordering. Service was good but for what we paid you could got to a great restaurant and actually get table side service. read more

The food is reasonably priced, however, some of their offerings are just not good at all. their burgers are cooked bone dry and the buns are stale. whoever put their "hot chicken" sandwich on the menu should be tried at the hague - it is literally the worst chicken sandwich i've ever had in my life, as it was just a piece of grilled chicken absolutely dredged in seasoned salt and cayenne pepper, served on a bun without any of the sort of sauce one would commonly associate with a traditional hot chicken sandwich. i don't even think they put any condiments on it. it would've been a lot cheaper to just suck on the salt shaker instead of choking down that abortion of a sandwich. their "cuban" sandwich is just chopped ham, pickles, and mustard on an untoasted hoagie roll. it was the sort of sandwich i'd pick up from the cooler at a gas station for $5, not anything that anyone should pay $16 for. still, it seems a nice place to go if you just want to have a beer with your friends. they don't have a hand in brewing any of it so they can't screw that up. if you want to get something to eat. go across the street to the post or four pegs. read more

Love Hauck's. Can't wait to go back. The first time we went, we stopped in for a quick bite and a drink. We were able to sit in the bar area right next to the big windows that open up. Even though it was really hot that day, there was a breeze and it felt comfortable sitting inside. The second time, we just came for a quick drink and to check out more of the space. There's a whole room that was playing old home videos of The Dainty from the '80s and '90s - we were hooked. I really look forward to spending more time here. There's an ease about it and the outdoor area is going to be wonderful to hang out at this fall. read more
