I like leaving reviews for the top shelf places. The 5 star home runs. It makes me feel good to brag on a place that nails every single aspect. I also leave reviews on the dumps. I can only hope people would do the same for me and put up whatever warning sign they can. Reviewing a place like this is hard. What do you say? I had a totally average time. The food was ok. I like the napkins.....? But this place is one I've been wanting to try for weeks. Every time I had the opportunity, closed. This buildup is probably why I felt the need to say anything at all. This place has alright food. The Cuban sandwich was 6/10 way too thin, overcooked pork, and was presented with an unholy amount of fries, as if to say, yeah, we know, the sandwich is like 2 ounces, so here's a potato. We also had a sampler. Plantains we're outright jerky like, fish was hospital food quality, and the salad was lettuce tomato and onion of varying freshness. The pork here, chicken, crab cake, and beef were all ok. Sauces were watery and hit or miss. All in all a forgettable experience but not a damning one. Some of the food was good some was meh / to rough. On a good night I wouldn't be shocked if this place was fairly good. I also wouldn't be shocked if they were closed in a few months. The service was EXCELLENT. I believe the owner was serving the whole place and she was amazing. Unfortunately, the lunch I had just didn't do it for me. The bread on Cuban was incredibly dry. Always drove by the restaurant since moving to Macclenny last year and always wanted to try it out. Finally went in for lunch today and it made me regret not eating here sooner. Waitress was awesome and very attentive. The empanadas are a gods gift to earth and the garlic shrimp was on point. Will definitely be going a lot more. read more

Turned around when we saw the name and it was worth it! While on our way to Punta Gorda, we went past this place and decided to have dinner. I had the Cuban sandwich and my wife had the chicken fajitas. The food was very good and Lily, the owner, was a shining face as she served food and took orders. This little spot right off the highway is absolutely hands down amazing. The food was delicious and very tasty. The service was top notch and she never skipped a beat. After spending the day at Ginnie Springs we were all very hungry and had a bit of everything; Cuban sandwich, Pulled pork with Mojo sandwich (amazing citrus woke up the taste buds), Ropa Vieja (just like my very good friends grandmother use to make), and last but not least to my friends surprise a vegetarian sandwich. This is a must stop either before going to Ginnie Springs or heading back to I10 or just driving through I10. read more

The rice started a little under cooked but steak was a little tough. But it's was good.

I loved everything about this place. I went with my mom and sister for lunch and ordered so much off the menu that it was slightly embarrassing. We got the Cubano, pulled pork, and breaded chicken sandwiches. The Cubano was top 5 sandwiches I've ever eaten. The other two were delicious as well. The fries they came with were wonderfully seasoned and fried to crispy perfection. The Yuca, plantains, and empenadas were also stars. They also served us a bbq sauce of some sort and this homemade SPICY sauce that was SO GOOD. I even asked for some to go, and if they sold it in bottles I would buy it. On top of the good food, service was top notch, quick and friendly. 10/10 will be back and would recommend to a friend. read more

This restaurant is one of the best Cuban places we've been to. My mom and I travel all over Florida for business (including Miami), but when we stay in Jacksonville, we drive half an hour to come eat here. It's worth it every time. Everything on the menu is delicious, the portions are huge. The atmosphere is cute and cozy- with CLEAN bathrooms. The service is welcoming and wonderful. Six of us were In the party that went tonight. Two had been before and recommended the restaurant. When ordering we were told we couldn't substitute sides and would have to pay for another side because I wanted black beans with my yellow rice. You would think that beans would be a normal side with cuban food. Three of us ordered the roasted pork and it looked like it had been fried because it was so dry! The flavor was good but crispy was not what we were going for. The same three ordered salads as one of the sides which never came and they took $1 off the bills. Maybe they got a new cook or were having an off night but I would not recommend'. On a good note my husband did like his shrimp creole which is why I gave 2 stars instead of 1. read more

This place is family owned and AMAZING! We go here once a week at least! My husband gets the roasted pork bowl (not on the menu, but they run a special occasionally and they will make it for you anytime). I usually order the Havana Seafood Creole - it is so delicious! Drove 45 minutes to be disappointed. As a Cuban living in Jacksonville I'm always looking for a taste from home. This was not it. I'm hoping it was an off night. I asked for a Cuban tamal and it came out with cilantro and salt, should've been my sign. The sweet plantains were the best thing we had. The white rice was crunchy meaning this rice has been reheated a couple of times. When I said something they tried to tell me, a Cuban, that Cuban rice is that way. Couldn't help but laugh. The beans were soft but cold. I had the palomilla and well you really can't mess that up. My husband had the pulled pork and we are pretty sure that was reheated also since it was cold.
