Sylvia took my order yesterday for today. There eight co workers and two lawyers in our meeting today. I planned, took orders, and picked up the meals. The Cuban was good and hot. The plantains are delicious. I forgot to take pictures of my food. They also included chips with the sandwiches. All went very smooth. Pros:great sandwiches, salads and other. Nice owners and employees. Cons: it can be a little tricky getting in and out of the parking lot. Tip:Cuba Libre is nextdoor. Recommend:absolutely

First thing - food was great but what put our experience over the top was the service; the server and our host Miguel made this a memorable experience and we are definitely going back. Enjoy - we did.

Mi hija y yo comimos aquí hoy. El especial del día era buenísima. Nos atendió Miguel. El es bien amable y no dio servicio estupendo. Por favor probarlo si nunca ha ido. También, Los precios son muy bien. My daughter and I ate here today. The special of the day was very good. We were attended by Miguel. He is very personal and the service was great!! Please give it a try if you haven't already. Great prices also!

Owner, Silvia did a great job hosting myself and 54 friends for an amazing authentic Cuban cuisine dinner! We were setup in the Cuba Libre club side of the venue ... where the lounge becomes wall-to-wall dancing and clubbing around 11PM, so I hear! (smile) The servers were attentive and friendly; especially Sam! Would encourage anyone in the area to stop by. Our specialty menu: Passed around STARTER: -- Shrimp & Scallop Ceviche ~ Lime, Mango, Cilantro (GF) -- Vegetarian Empanada (Mushroom, Carrot, Broccoli, Celery) MAIN: - Picadillo ~ Extra Lean Sirloin braised on Sofrito (GF) - Roast Pork ~ Marinated & Slow-roasted (GF) - Chicken Fricassee ~ Silvia's Favorite - Yellow (non GF) or White Rice (GF) All SIDES Vegetarian: - Black Beans (GF) - Cuban Bread - Sweet Plantains (GF) Passed around DESSERTS: - Mini Tres Leche - Flan (GF) - Pio Quinto Brandy-soaked Cake & Custard.

Entree' The Bowl with seasons and lightly broiled chicken!!! I mixed the beans and rice. Love this lil' Gem of a restaurant!

The food was fantastic! Soo good and healthy for you! I had the Bowl with black beans, yellow rice, a dollop of guac and Pico De guiyo. Sorry spelling for the Pico?!! Anyway the plaintans were excellent. Outstanding food assistance and the presentation was beautiful before I dove in. Took a good portion home for lunch tomorrow!! My friend had the rice, beans and the plaintans!!! So good! We were celebrating our b-days!! Can't wait to go back soon to Havana Jax!!!

My family and I always stop by around lunchtime on Saturdays, and their Chicken Fricassee is an absolute must-try! The food is consistently delicious, and the service never disappoints. The atmosphere is always welcoming--especially when Miguel is working. He truly goes above and beyond to ensure you have the best dining experience.

First visit. Service was great. Had the Chicken Steak with black beans, rice and plantains and my husband, the Picadillo with black beans, rice and plantains. Will definitely visit again.

amazing food, service and atmosphere! Miguel was awesome! We stopped in for a late lunch. Sampled the Havana platter, Cuban sandwich , black bean soup and Caribbean salad. All were authentic and fabulous. The sangria was oh so yummy!

It was fun to see the fresh caught fish in a display case on the way to order. At the end of our visit I chatted with one of the staff and she was super friendly to this out of towner. I personally had one of the specials - Cobia grilled with teriyaki glaze and mango salsa and fried okra instead of fries. The fish was cooked perfectly, not dried out, the flavor combination was well balanced. The okra was plentiful and, while I prefer cornmeal batter (Cracker Barrel style), this batter was seasoned just right and cooked to a nice golden color. I noticed that even though everything has a fried option, the restaurant didn't smell greasy or fishy. My husband had a fried chicken sandwich that he enjoyed and my nephew had a cheeseburger that looked delicious too. No one walked away hungry or disappointed today. Only thing I missed was trying dessert, but we headed out just before it got busy with the dinner crowd. I would definitely eat here again and recommend to friends!

I was warmly greeted and promptly seated, thanks to my wonderful waitress, Mrs. Susan. She was incredibly pleasant, offered great suggestions, and was attentive to my needs throughout the meal. Place was very busy for a Wednesday night. $1 steamed oysters might have caused that. Note you do have to shuck them but that wasn't an issue. Seated immediately in a nice booth. Not really sure who my server was as there were about four different folks make sure I had everything. One of them seemed to be the owner or family as he was very knowledgeable. I had the steamed oysters and then opted for the crab cakes with a side of slaw and she crab soup. They didn't have the bisque which was disappointing but the she crab soup was very tasty. The crab cakes were very nice as well. Their version of tartar sauce was also delicious. Not sure why there were lower reviews as the service was awesome and the place was a nice mid range restaurant. Decor was typical nautical themed and a bit touristy but the food was excellent as was the service.

With seating at the bar we were served right away by a pleasant women who worked with us our entire stay. We started with the fish dip which was very good. A bit more cream cheese than I normally like but was still very good. Also had the Crab Savannah soup which is like a tomato based she crab soup, excellent!! For our entrees my wife had the Poke' Bowl with seared tuna. Asked for medium rare but got more to a medium color (gray) but the veggies that it came with were fresh, flavorful & crisp! For my self I had the oyster poor boy which was huge! Plenty of oysters and cooked just right. The remoulade sauce had a nice flavor and the veggies also were fresh & crisp. The ambience is more like a warehouse feel but I'm ok with that kind of atmosphere. In talking with our server Sunday's is there busiest day. So, if coming on a Sunday get there early or pack some patience as the food was very good & worth the trip. Thank you for a nice time! We'll be back!!

Though the parking lot was busy, I was sat immediately and noticed they were not too busy on a Friday night 7:30pm - likely an indicator of the experience to come. Kaitlyn was very friendly in greeting and throughout the meal. She was obviously the only bright spot on this experience, since you see the star rating. The soda lacked carbonation in the coke, so I mentioned it tasting off to me. I switched to an Orange Fanta, and that too lacked carbonation. Ended up just eating my spicy crab combo with no drink. Which thankfully, spicy is no where near spicy at this location. Medium at best if you order spicy. Genuinely let down, especially since it is ONE cluster for $38.99. Definitely felt this was a skip, and then was shocked when the bill came... As a party of one, I was charged automatic gratuity of 12%, which is bewildering to me. Larger parties? Totally get it! But a party of one, which I was shocked but they do list on the menu of prices. I almost tipped 20% on top of the bill, until I was looking into why it was higher than I expected. Additionally, $4.99 for a soda that doesn't even have the syrup and carbonation properly calibrated?! Wowza, what a letdown for $50+ for dining alone. If you are in Jacksonville, you are surrounded by lots of good seafood places. Big crab? Personally, a pass for me.

For appetizers, we started with the snapper bites and the fried blue crab claws. Both were cooked to perfection and packed with flavor. For our entrees, we decided on the seafood broil and the fried platters. Both dishes hit the spot. The portion sizes were well balanced, and we left feeling satisfied rather than overly full. On top of that, the pricing was great. Our waiter was great, but the pacing of the meal could have been smoother since it took about 45 minutes to get our entrees. There were a couple of other notable downsides. The restaurant was quite loud, and to top it all off, a woman at the table right next to us had her shoes off. Management really should have controlled that kind of behavior, as it detracts from the dining experience. Furthermore, despite making reservations to celebrate our anniversary, the restaurant did not acknowledge it at all. That was unfortunate. Still, the quality of the food and the service from our waiter kept things afloat.
