My boyfriend and I, on April 30th, approximately 6:30pm, arrived at HBIG drive thru kiosk. After waiting several minutes and no response we pulled forward to the window. We thought since we have to finish maintaining a few more houses that this place has good food, quick so we can return to work. We're in a full size GMC 4x4 deisel truck-towing a 16' trailer loaded w/landscape equipment and your Window Operator, "Jacqueline", tells my BF that, "He should have just waited at the kiosk because she CAN NOT take his order from the window! He's told go back to the kiosk to order." He questioned what the problem was taking it now from the window and she said, "no, can't do that because they TIME my orders." I'm in the back seat listening to all this and unsure if its a power trip/control issue or just flat out being difficult. Whatever it is, we left! Clearly we cannot back up and will have to leave the line and drive all the way around the building to get back in line for drive thru...and who knows with that attitude if she'll do something to our food (1 example: spit)? Obviously there's not a mngr on-site to ensure customers have a good experience and keep coming back. We definitely did not and will not return. read more

Upon entering, an employee will assist you with ordering (although we told them we didn't need it) and it made for an awkward ordering process (think 4 people standing at the kiosk trying to order). I ended up with the Honolulu Chicken (small) and it can with white rice, I subbed the mac-n-cheese salad for their veggies. The meal itself was ok but it could've came out warmer. The small is also a good portion size for lunch. It was a quick in and out meal but I doubt I'll be back. read more

Wow, is this even fast food? The food here is remarkable. My favorite is the Hulu Hulu Chicken, it's full of flavor and tender bits of yummy heaven. The macaroni salad that comes with it is amazing. The service is always spot on and the inside is just beautiful and clean. Everyone is so friendly there. And they have that yummy dole whip soft serve. read more

We Hawai'i girls don't see much Hawaiian local food often since we moved to Texas, so when we do see something promising we are almost gravitated in! After a long three hour drive from Houston to Dallas, we decided to end our night with what we know: Hawaiian Mixed Plate vibes. Upon arrival, the lightened up Hawaiian islands mural/sign they had outside was a sight to see. Even when we entered the venue we noticed they were playing the classic island jams. It was a very modern restaurant with iPads to order from and their service lady was quick and polite. I ordered a combination plate of their Kalua pig and huli huli chicken with a side of mac salad. I guess you cant really find anything like home. It was a good attempt. The pulled pork was juicy and the chicken was more on the teriyaki side than Huli huli. As for the mac salad....just wasn't it. I pulled right up in the drive-thru, and looked at the menu options. I was told that all the menu options were gluten- free except the macaroni salad and the chow main noodles on the Pacific Island salad. I opted for the signature Huli Huli fresh grilled teriyaki chicken which the lunch plate comes with macaroni salad, and white rice. The Dole tropical soft serve caught my eye and ordered that as well. There were a couple cars in front in drive -thru but it wasn't but a 3 min wait to pickup my order. For it to be early afternoon, it wasn't that crowded on a Monday. Customer service was good, and the food was hot. I tried the mixed soft serve first, which wasn't too sweet but just the right amount of sweetness and creamy. My kids enjoyed the soft serve, and said it tasted like frozen yogurt. The lunch plate was tasty! The rice was cooked perfectly and not mushy. The chicken was flavorful and cooked just right. The macaroni salad was really good, better than some Hawaiian barbecue places I had. This place is a whole island vibe, with palm tree outside and island decor inside. I recommend this location definitely since the food taste freshly cooked the couple times I've been here. Bro, I was not disappointed! read more

I checked, yep, they open til midnight, Every Night! I wrote a book on this location, then never came back. Looks like corporate jumped on my warnings, and got the right crew onboard now. I tried the touchscreen order, it went smooth until I wanted to sub veggies for the rice. I just hit send order before it was 12 Midnight, so no Cinderella effect hit me! Elise showed us how to navigate the ordering screen and we successfully/ easily ordered our food I got the mixed plate with Huli Huli chicken & Molokai chicken and added pineapple. My bf got the Honolulu & Molokai chicken mixed plate and added veggies. They were both very tasty! I like how the chicken was seasoned, it was very flavorful and tender And we also tried the pineapple soft serve, super yummy. I was craving oxtails or short ribs and this restaurant showed up, first, in my Yelp search. Lesson learned, no beef here. Without looking at the menu I headed over. It appears orders placed by computer only (not sure) and I did so. All of the chicken dishes looked very similar. The only other meat choice was a shredded pork. I ordered a combo with 2 different chickens and they both tasted the identical. VERY sweet. The meat was placed on top of rice, so don't let the pic fool you as to the amount. The rice was way over cooked (soggy) and the veggies were almost raw. Macaroni had way too much Mayo and a seasoning (some type of seed) that I couldn't stand. I've eaten a lot of island food and this was most definitely a fast food chain style. Disappointing, as I love Hawaiian food. I wouldn't refuse to go again but definitely wouldn't be my pick. It was a little harder to get into the parking lot of this location due to the traffic pattern, but it wasn't terrible. I am used to ordering on the touch screen now, but they have an employee ready to help if you need it. The food was delicious. I like getting the mixed plate, subbing pineapple for Mac and doing low carb with veggies. I love the music that plays inside the restaurant. I find it relaxing, fun, and adds to the atmosphere. Stopped in today for a delish lunch. Decided on the Hulu Hulu Chicken and Pork. Both had a side of rice and potato salad. We added sliced pineapple as well. It was all very tender and juicy. We've been to Hawaii several times and it really does taste like your on the island eating traditional food. For ours drinks were Orange Nectar in a can, and I got Agave Cream Soda. They both were good. We always got the chance to taste their ice cream. They have Strawberry, Pineapple and both in swirl. It was very creamy! They also have apparel to purchase, T-shirts for $8!! It was ok, but nothing to cheer about. We went back the other day and was floored at the price increases!!! When we visited after the opening, the price of a regular (they call it classic) was $9.95. I've included a picture of the original menu we were given for proof. When we went back the other day, a classic was $15.95 and a small was $10.95. The price increase in just a few months in outrageous!! It costs us $48 for 2 classic meals and a small. And the substitutions are ridiculous as well. I paid 50 cents to sub pineapple for the macaroni. I got ONE SLICE of pineapple. Absolute highway robbery!! We probably won't be returning. read more

My son wanted to try this place so we bought one of each of the four chicken lunches, large size, takeout at $16 each, for the family. The three styrofoam compartments contained a giant scoop of white rice, a giant scoop of macaroni salad, and a scoop of chicken chunks on top of yet more rice. If you love white rice and macaroni salad then maybe this place is for you. But after spending almost $80 for all that rice and macaroni, with a paltry scoop of very similarly seasoned chicken chunks, 4 cans of drink, I will not be returning.
