Stopped here to try out the food since I love Hawaiian food , upon going in you order your food on a kiosk since there's not really a front desk person to order from , It was not difficult and they do have nice music playing my big downfall was the place was not that clean there were quite a few tables really dirty and not cleaned up so not sure if they were short staffed or just nobody working the dining area. I ended up getting the hui hui chicken and it was good they also have several good sauces to try as well . Overall the food was good and I would eat it again but maybe I would just get it to go.

Huli-Huli Chicken with side of fresh pineapple

Found the place not too far from hotel. They had a couple of drive thru lines so I took the inner one. The guy asked what I wanted to order. I told him and about a minute later a girl comes on and asks what I wanted to order. Frustrating. I ordered again classic huli-huli (teriyaki) chicken plate and side of fresh pineapple. I drove it back to the hotel in high expectations. The chicken was actually tasty but the rice was clumpy and the macaroni salad was mushy. The pineapple was okay but not ripe so very sour.

kilauea chicken with rice and mac salad

dashed my order from here a couple of weeks ago, was pleasantly satisfied when my food came piping hot! i ordered the kilauea chicken with extra rice, extra mac salad, spam musubi, and strawberry dole whip. unlike a majority of fast food places/chain restaurants, the spicy chicken was ACTUALLY spicy. that's worth a platinum medal in my book! there was rice under the chicken as well as rice on the side; as i mentioned earlier, i ordered extra rice because i can never get enough of eating it! the texture of the rice was slightly sticky, which i liked because it paired well with the chicken. the mac salad was decent; not terrible but not out of this world either. i liked the black pepper in it, but i had to add a little salt to jazz up the flavor. sadly, the spam musubi was somewhat of a letdown since it was slander than what i was used to. it had a nice bite to it, though. last but not least, the strawberry dole whip was hella good! make sure to eat/drink it while it's fresh or else it'll melt quickly. overall, this was a good first-time ordering experience for me.

Go somewhere else. They couldn't redeem a coupon they sent out, through the drive thru.

I didn't tell the bartender who was busy with the lunchtime blue collar workers. I just take it as my cue to come back and re-order that chicken fried steak sandwich. I will try again! fyi burger was decent and bartender was understanding.

Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys…read more That's what was playing on the old jukebox as we made ourselves comfortable in what is a classic, back-in-the-70s, non-pretentious, neighborhood dive bar. The place is right out of a movie (maybe "Roadhouse" or "Urban Cowboy minus the mechanical bull). It's part biker bar, part honky Tonk, pub, and cocktail bar. We came for the burgers and were not disappointed. They were absolutely solid and worth it in every way. The nice, fresh beef patty was grilled to perfection and set in a soft bun with all the usual trimmings. I'd recommend you add thousand island for an extra touch of goodness. The resulting burger was juicy and meaty and drippy and excellent. It was not a throwaway "bar-food" item. The menu has a lot of great things in it, including sandwiches and all manner of comfort food and bar staples. A big surprise were the onion rings and ranch dressing. They were some of the best I'd had in a while. I found them better than the fries which were fairly standard. Others have complained about the service, but ours was really good at lunchtime on a weekday. Our server was also the bartender, and she was attentive and nice, albeit busy with all the workers that frequent this joint. It's filled with a mix of blue-collar, cops, office people, truckers, bikers, and just plain folks. And they play some great songs on the jukebox. Definitely worth it. And try one of the burger variations on the menu (with bacon or mushrooms, avocado, etc).

From the prices to the generous portions and food quality, everything was amazing!! It's been a while since I've had Hawaiian BBQ this good outside of Hawaii. Inside, there is plenty of seating. Orders are placed at the counter, and they call your order number when your food is ready. They also have self serve fountain drinks. Kahu even has a drive thru for added convenience. We started with the Crab Rangoons (4 pieces for $3.59). For entrees, we ordered the Kalua combo ($13.59), which comes with Kalua pork and your choice of chicken. I chose Teriyaki chicken. We also ordered the BBQ & Katsu mix ($14.59). Each plate comes with two scoops of rice, one scoop of Macaroni salad, and vegetables. The Macaroni salad was phenomenal and ended up being our favorite part of the meal. We loved it so much that we ordered five additional scoops ($7.99) to take home. We also ordered an extra side of steamed rice (2 scoops for $1.99) to pair with our leftover meats, along with an order of Fried dumplings (8 pieces for $6.99). Even without the additional takeout sides, the two original plates were more than enough to turn into another full meal later that night. I was excited to find out there is also a location closer to where I live, and I already can't wait to dine at Kahu again. Thank you!! Visited 5/10/26

Katsu chicken was perfect. Really loved the sauce. Also tried the teriyaki beef and the fire chicken. We've tried at least five Hawaiian barbecue places here in the valley. When I entered, the place was pretty empty and the woman behind the counter told me they were out of a lot of things - they start smoking in the morning and when they run out they are out. But she did have pork ribs and burnt ends left, which were the things I was most interested in. She said she'd make me a big platter with ribs and burnt ends and I ordered a side of bacon potato salad. I saw her put everything into the computer a couple times as she was working to get me a good price. The side was 8oz potato salad. Unfortunately when I got home with my order, it wasn't my order. She'd given me someone else's order entirely. Instead of several pork ribs and lots of burnt ends I had a chicken leg, some brisket, a couple pork ribs and some catfish. No potato salad, unless the tiny container was a taster, but maybe that was tartar sauce. I was happy to try so many things, but felt bad for whoever didn't get this order. By the time I realized it I was already home and wasn't going to return cold food. :( The catfish was the strange one - I wasn't sure what it was when I touched it (since it wasn't what I ordered) and upon touching it, it felt strangely wiggly. As if it was a piece of deep fried silicone or something. But we cut into it and I tried it and it was honestly my favorite thing in the whole meal! Super tasty!! When I was at the restaurant the woman told me the meats didn't have BBQ sauce on them, but when I opened up the containers, the burnt ends and the ribs did have a little sauce on them. So it was overall a super confusing situation. Bread rolls were boring, but the rest of the food was good. I'd like to actually try the bacon potato salad next time I visit. Restaurant is large and was clean and had a comfortable atmosphere. Food was fresh and tasty.
