I know NO ONE in Arizona every friend I've made has been by online dating working or picking a restaurant with a bar (because I eat alone mostly) and here has become my new spot. The management team cares that you're happy Juliette and John alone make the place worth the stopping everyone else is amazing too IN SEASON they have live crawfish and you can tell. The regulars make it worth coming back as they're wholesome so the atmosphere alone is wonderful! Now we're hungry right so the live crawfish seasoning and heat options don't miss. I would say the "hot" for Cajun tastebuds would be mild it's always nice to know what fits they're oysters are purged and delicious as far as I can tell it's an all year option. Prices here are fair as the quality is good. Heard one person mention the sauce is good at pier 88 but everything else is better here...I'd take cooked to perfection than a little better sauce. You should too traveling or native. I'd post a pic of the crawfish (live it's in season) but they were perfectly cooked amazing flavor and I smashed the whole pound before I thought this place deserved the atta boy! read more

This is my review, finally posting after being there way back when they opened years ago but feel I need to get it out there. Me and my son went to Angry Crab Shack on Litchfield rd. I got the bag of shrimp. Looked great. But when eating them they were very rubbery and overcooked. I mentioned it to my waitress. Her attitude was that she didn't even care. Most waitresses would've apologized for this and offered a replacement. No apologies were offered, and she did not even imply that she would replace them. So, right from their very opening they have lost a customer for life. I have never been back even though I drive past them every day. It's funny how that first visit can leave such a lasting impression forever. To think how much revenue they lost from that one person over so many years, it becomes staggering to think what the cost is over 1 person, 10 people, 100 people. Me and my boyfriend went here for the first time and we had such a nice time! The staff were very friendly and funny. He got a seafood boil bag with shrimp, crab, and sausage and it was really good! They provide with tools upon request to open any shells/legs you can't with your hands (but he was able to open most with his hands) and their chicken sandwich is DELICIOUS! The bibs and gloves are nice. The lighting is perfect and the music is loud enough to hear, but not overbearing to not hear your tables conversation. Food was absolutely phenomenal. The seafood was cooked perfectly, crab was not overcooked at all and it was so so sweet. We got the duo combo and they brought out a pint/sauce cup so we could dip our stuff in it and I loved it. The garlic noodles weren't great, especially once they got cold, I did not finish eating it. The sweet potatoes fries weren't great though. The interior is very bar like with a lot of graffiti but as far as I know, all angry crabs have that. They ring a very very loud bell and siren/alarm for birthdays so beware if you don't like loud sudden noises. I'm giving this such a low rating because of our awful server. Heather sat us down and did not make eye contact while we ordered drinks, it was really weird. She kept staring at the tv while talking and would not give us attention. She came back with one of our drinks and never got mine. We waited a whole 15 minutes before our order was taken and it wasn't even our server!!! This kind lady saw me looking around and came over and apologized for the wait and took our orders instead. We didn't get our food for another 30 minutes. The kind lady saw me looking and came on by and said she'll check on our order. She came back and apologized for the wait, they had 2 big parties with over 10 people before us and brought our food fresh from the kitchen. She was amazing. I really hope tips are split amongst all the serving staff because Heather did not deserve one penny of it. I came here twice while in Arizona for a work trip. It was a few minutes from our hotel so it was convenient. Personally, I wasn't a big fan. I thought the food was ok but nothing special for myself. My husband and coworker liked it more than I did. So definitely depends on your food preferences. We got the oysters for an appetizer and those were good. I tried the crab basket the first time and regretted it. It was not tasty. The second time, I tried the scallop bowl which was better, but again, nothing special. Can not believe there isn't a line around the block at lunch! For $18 I had the Shrimp and Crab Boil. It comes with corn on the cob and a red potato. And it is AWESOME! The people are nice, but it takes forever for you to get the food. I waited 40 minutes just to get a pound of veggies in the sauce. I didn't even order any seafood and it took 40 minutes for me to get my order when I was originally given a 15 min eta and then when I got my order they missed my side order of rice so I had to wait another five minutes just to get some rice. This happened before a few months ago when I placed it to go order and I waited over an hour just to get the same type of order, but I ended up leaving because it took too long so I tried to give the Place a try again today and regretted it. This casual dining spot was the final eatery I visited during my unplanned extra stay in the greater Phoenix area. It was within walking distance of the hotel so I grabbed dinner here. Angry Crab Shack was like a local version of Joe's Crab Shack which is a national chain of seafood restaurants. The interior resembled Joe's with a beach theme decor and a large bar area. Seafood boil bags were the main menu draw. Lots of Southern seafood fare was also available like jambalaya, catfish, and shrimp & grits. I saw some healthy bowls listed which were not typical of a place like this. After asking the bartender about the size of the scallops, he told me they were fairly large. With that response, I asked for a Scallop Bowl as an entree to go with an order of Gumbo as a starter. The Gumbo was a classic Creole stew with shrimp, sausage, crawfish, and rice. It was served in a slanted bowl which made it easier to scoop the contents. The combination had mild spiciness and a hearty flavor. The Scallop Bowl came with vegetables, rice or noodles, and one of seven sauces used for the seafood boil bags. I picked the noodles and Sweet N Tangy sauce. The bartender was accurate as there were six U/10 scallops. The noodles were linguini, and the sauce was more tart than sweet. While the amount of food in the bowl was mediocre, if you were given half a dozen large scallops as I had, then the price tag at a higher end restaurant would have easily exceeded $30. The boiled scallops alone were a great value. The service at the bar was fine, and I gave a four star rating for my dining experience at Angry Crab Shack. read more

I had high hopes for Angry Crab Shack, but my first visit was deeply disappointing. I dined with two others (two adults and one child) and encountered issues from start to finish. Upon arrival, we were left waiting at the reception counter for over 10 minutes before being acknowledged, only to be told there was a 40-minute wait. Once seated, things didn't improve much. Our drink order was taken after a short wait, but I was surprised to learn the strawberry lemonade wasn't bottomless and came with an extra charge for refills. To make it worse, it wasn't even made with fresh strawberries, just syrup - a detail that felt like a letdown. The appetizer, calamari, and the kids' crispy shrimp basket arrived promptly, which was a rare highlight. Although, I did not like the fact that main meals did not come out at the same time. (I noticed the same thing happening at a larger table next to me. Single entrees coming out at different intervals, that's very saddening) However, our main order, a "feast for 2" with 3 added potatoes, 3 added boiled eggs, took nearly an hour to arrive. When it finally came, it was small, underwhelming, and missing key items like all of the potatoes, sausage, and eggs. After notifying our server, she quickly brought out the missing items - but they were plain, not coated in the sauce I had specifically requested. Worse still, the eggs weren't ready and had to be cooked separately, meaning more time wasted. The seafood itself was another disappointment. The lobster was overcooked to the point of crumbling, and there was barely enough sauce to coat everything. The potatoes were tiny, and the vegetables and sausage tasted bland, as if they'd only been boiled in water. It definitely didn't feel like a "feast for 2," and I left hungry. The server did apologize for the wait and offered a complimentary piece of cheesecake, which I declined - I just wanted to leave. I was shocked to see that they still charged me for the missing potatoes and eggs, even though they weren't in the original boil. The sauce they used was flavorful, but there wasn't nearly enough of it to salvage the experience. Our server was kind and respectful which is why I give it more than one star. Overall, the service, food quality, and value were all below expectations. I wouldn't recommend Angry Crab Shack based on this visit. I spent over $200, I rather make the 30-45 min drive to Joes Crab Shack in Tempe, AZ or even 5 hours to Garden Grove, CA to avoid this disappointment. read more

Taylor, our table person came right over to greet us and share menus. We asked questions and she answered. We ordered Jumbo Wings (1/2 dozen) - Buffalo, Shrimp and Grits, Grilled Shrimp Bowl (Garlic Flavor) w Rice and a Hurricane (Bacardi Rum, Bacardi Spiced Rum, oj, pina agua fresca, passionfruit guava syrup). We waited awhile for our items. A...WHILLLLLEEEE. Taylor came over several times and apologized. I did receive my Hurricane in a reasonable amount of time and it was wonderfully delicious. Hubby's Shrimp and Grits came out and he was happy w the flavor, texture and temperature. My Grilled Shrimp Bowl made it out but didn't look like the pictures on Yelp nor did it taste the way I expected. The Shrimp were tiny and overcooked. The Garlic flavoring I picked was good but the dish still lacked salt and pepper. The Jumbo Wings weren't Jumbo but had a Jumbo taste. It was that orangey Buffalo Wing Sauce. Similar to Pargos if anyone remembers them. They were very good. I would definitely return back for the beverage and wings and I'd try another food item. The décor was club house-ish. Wood panels on wall, autographs and scripts throughout the wall, sport bar -ish. Ahh, I just love a good seafood boil. Quick and attentive! The hostesses are always so busy but they make sure to stay on top of it.

Our first time here and the service was good super friendly lady, cant remember her name but was super helpful and friendly. The restaurant was clean the environment was nice music was good, I was kinda thrown off by the writing on the walls but I guess that's just the theme they have. I didn't understand that but I mean I wasn't there for their walls lol I was there for the food. The food was all great tasted soo yummy the charred oysters were delicious never had them like that. Angry edamame wasn't spicy and I thought it would be but actually it was really yummy. The shrimp with veggies bowl was delicious as well, the fish and chips were good too but I felt like the fish was a little bit over cooked and too thick for me but was still good. Can't remember the name of the drinks we had but it was an alcohol drinks and they were good not to sweet or to strong they were just right. I feel like the price was affordable I mean is sea food so yes a bit expensive but it is worth it. We would definitely go back and we recommend it 5/5 for sure. read more

We stopped into the angry crab for a quick lunch. The restaurant was pretty empty, but that's to be expected on a Monday afternoon. My mom ordered the shrimp and crab cake sandwich and I order the boil bag with crab legs, shrimp and seasonal veggies. The food was AMAZING. My mom couldn't stop moaning over her sandwich. She ordered onion rings and they were so crispy and well seasoned! The boil bag was a little hot, I ordered the trifecta sauce with mild heat. The server was very knowledgeable (thanks alyana!) and told me to get a step down on the heat. She was right! Any hotter would've been entirely too hot for me. The food was okay, the overall service was less than okay, it took a while. None of that was the problem honestly. When eating, we found the digestive track was still left in our shrimp tail - this consisted of a black and dark green clumpy substance that was all within the meat of the lobster tail. We politely asked the manager, Johnathan, about it, and he seemed to play the entire situation down, relating this to caviar and not directly telling our entire table what the substance in the tail was - it was poop. He began to avoid the subject and just described the body anatomy of the shrimp. We then asked our server about it, and she was equally as confused as us. She the got the manager again to talk about a discount on the meal. The manager said that we would need to take it up with corporate if we had a problem. He came back and was nothing but rude and dismissive. We got the idea that we were treated this way because we are young college students who he believed wouldn't be able to stand up for themselves maybe? So it was my husband's birthday and he wanted to go to Angry Crab, we never been to this location we usually go to Cactus. It appears they may be renovating? Or need to? Hard to tell if it was in progress or what. Our waitress Isa was pleasant and she took good care of us. The food came out and although it looked it good, it was very different from the other location. I ordered fried shrimp with French fries and BBQ Beans, the fries and shrimp were good, my beans were hard like not fully cooked and lacked flavor, I asked Isa if I could have the potato salad and she brought it out for me, it was just eh, to the point i didn't eat it. My son had wings which he devoured and said they were good but they could use more sauce. My husband had the bag with shrimp, potatoes, corn, sausage... he said the sausage was gross and he gets the sausage every visit at the other location, I tried it and it was greasy, bland and overall gross. We were really disappointed and I felt bad since it was my husbands birthday and we decided this location since it is so much closer, but I doubt we would go back.
