Ever since I moved to Eugene for college I have been coming to Hawaiin time. It was the first meal I ate when visiting. The huli huli chicken is exquisite. I have had it so many times and it hits the spot over and over again. Their Mac salad is the best I have ever had at any hawaiin restaurant. No mix ins just mayo and lots of pepper. Evening about this meal is perfect. The teriyaki sauce they marinate it in is amazing. I love putting it all over the rice and more on the chicken with the side of it they give you. I just moved to Eugene and am so happy this place is so close to my beloved TJ Maxx. I have no idea what all the bad reviews are about!! I have gotten the regular huli huli chicken plate both times and the experience has been great. The employees are in fact kind, i get my food quickly, and the portions are huge. 5 stars! Very solid food with super friendly staff. Interior (Coburg Road location) was clean and tidy.

I've been going to the River Road location for over a decade and get the same thing large #3 the last two times I've been there the large is now the size of the medium! definitely not worth the price! I won't go back!! I know I'm only one person so I'm sure they will be fine. Good luck! read more

They have beef back on the menu. It's good. I think the Loren style garlic beef is better than the teriyaki.

We went in early in the afternoon, ordered the beef plate , the beef was so over cooked it was like chewing on jerky ( burnt way over cooked ) , I can't understand how they would serve that to anyone , We had to throw it away, it was that bad, they didn't give us a receipt OR we would have asked for or money back we are so disappointed ! This place is taking a dive. The owners don't care anymore, the employees don't care, no one cares. I walk in to the store after calling over and over again and they said they didn't answer because of the dinner rush. I called while I was in there just to see and the phone was on and it never rang. There's only 4 people in here @ 6:30 as I write this. Tried coming the other day 30 min before close and the same gal said they stop making chicken that close to closing so you have to pre-order it. This is by far the best Hawaiian Time restaurant. We have been to all of them ( even the ones in and near Portland before they closed ). This one is the most consistent on the quality of their food. Biggest complaint now is you can't call in to place a to go order. You have to go online and order the food. The problem is when I went on at 3 minutes after they opened, they gave me a 40 minute wait time to pick up my food. This is after punching the ASAP button. I am calling because I am driving through town. I could go into the restaurant and order my food and get it in 5-10 minutes max. Definitely need to do work on this aspect. read more

SHAME ON YOU!! Return trip to Eugene and was craving Hawaiian plate lunch. I came across this place and my heart skipped a beat and I thought I could get some comfort food. Shameful that they would call themselves "Hawaiian" because there was nothing Hawaiian about it. Sure they served kalua pig, offered mac salad and scoops of rice with the meal, but that was it. We ordered Huli Huli chicken & the Mauna Loa chicken. Firstly, Huli Huli means to slowly turn--roasted/grilled chicken--should be whole pieces or maybe served on skewers. I'm not sure what I got, but it wasn't huli huli like I am used to having. This should be renamed Teriyaki Chicken! Next was their Mauna Loa Volcano Chicken--supposed to be sweet with a little spicy?? NOT!! The 2 chicken dishes both looked and tasted like teriyaki chicken, but to make matters worse, they didn't even care to differentiate the 2 because to them it is probably all the same--like teriyaki chicken. The mac salad was okay, but classic Hawaiian mac salad has some carrots in it...this had nothing. Bigger disappointment is there was no beef offerings or seafood and only offered kalua pig. No teri beef, kalbi, garlic shrimp or chicken katsu. I can understand not offering saimin (ramen), but to not offer the basic loco-moco, a Hawaiian standard is terrible. Let's not even talk about their failure to provide any kind of SPAM on the menu or ANY KIND of musubi. Please remove any reference to Hawaii, Hawaiian or Hawaiian plate lunch from your business name and offerings because clearly you are not. Selling Hawaiian Sun drinks is not a saving grace. If this is a franchise, then ALL your franchises have got it wrong--there is ZERO authenticity and consider adding quotes around the name "Hawaiian" because it seems more of an attempt to make Hawaiian-like food without any authenticity. read more

on 9/20/25 at 1:05pm bought Kalua pig , and a HuluI chicken . me and my mom eat it hers was the Kali's pig. 20 minutes after my mom eating she got violently sick!!! I have called Hawaiian time 4 times to talk to someone,only get answermachine left messages no one has called me back. we live in Elkton or hour away , and it has always been a treat to be able to stop and have lunch. very dis pleased no one has contacted me . I'm sure it was the pork !! that is the only thing she had eaten , and I am positive she was not the only one who got sick. Felt super hungry after work, so I wanted something super filling and with a huge portion. So glad I came here! The place was under renovation, so the tables were put away. However, the staff was super nice. The flavor of the beef was soooo good! It was really filling and I couldn't finish it, so I kept it for my next meal. Food used to be very good a few years ago. Not sure what changed but the chicken now tastes like boiled dry chicken with salty yucky sauce thrown on top. I ordered my food in advance over their website (a bit outdated but worked alright), and it was ready within about 20 minutes. After tip, I ended up paying 15 dollars for the combination plate of rice, Mac salad, the Mauna Loa chicken, and the Huli Huli chicken. Before other charges, it is 11.95. Oh my gosh, my mouth is watering just thinking about this meal! It was soooo good! It's a very casual place, you order at the counter and sit where you want. The Hawaiian themed decor is cool, but overall this place has a fast food kinda vibe, which totally works. My mom and I split a regular teriyaki chicken and it was plenty for us. And for $9, it was a good deal! The chicken was soooo good, loved the teriyaki sauce and the veggies were super fresh and crispy. That macaroni salad! I got the kalua pig and it was a great eat. The pork was tender, and there wasn't too little or too much pork on my regular-sized plate; just the perfect amount. It comes with more rice on the side, which is excellent with a simple splash of teriyaki sauce, and the macaroni salad, which gets heavy/rich after a couple of bites, but is finishable as it's only a small side dish (I wouldn't recommend getting extra). I wanted to leave my review because they're not doing justice for claiming "authentic" Hawaiian food. Just simply 3 points that surprised me: 1) What are you putting in your macaroni salad? It tastes nothing like what you eat in Hawaii. If you're not from Hawaii, plz make sure to learn correct "authentic" recipe, 2) no seafood in the entire menu? Only meat and veggies option? Hm 3) I've never seen the veggie dish like this. We ordered because we wanted veggies (desperate!) But I wouldn't next time. Overall, I don't know who the owner is and her/his/their story. worst place I have ever been. I went in as soon as they opened and other staff were showing up as if they were late. The fountain drink machine was broken and when I filled my cup it had black specs all in it. luckily I substituted for a canned drink. tables were all sticky and gross, food tasted like it came off an unclean grill, and staff acting like it was their first day. At least put a sign on the fountain drink machine saying out of order so others don't drink the filth. threw the food away. waste of time and $20. read more

The food here is pretty good most of the time but the last few times I've been pretty disappointed. We ordered the Huli chicken and it was dry and burnt and was as though we were chewing on little bits of charcoal and little slivered shavings of wood. It was weird, and gross. It definitely had to be the very bottom of the pan of charcoal chicken. Over the last few months or so I've noticed they have gone from generous multiple teriyaki sauce cups to only one little dinky cup per meal, and that cup is only half full! (See photo below) I am also very put off by the fact that I am asked to tip each time I go now which they have never done before. Especially this last time which did not give me an option of declining a tip on the screen. Forced tipping? Wow. We ordered a mix plate, a chicken and veggies plate and a huli huli plate. The mix plate only had one of the proteins, they completely forgot the second type. The chicken and veggies plate didn't come with any teriyaki sauce in it like it normally does, and they didn't send any on the side. The huli huli plate had a teriyaki sauce in it like normal, but this teriyaki sauce container was literally 1/4 of the way full. I just feel like this was really sloppy, they didn't pay attention to make sure the order was right of that we were given what was needed.
