When it was my turn, I got the clam chowder and the Captain's Platter with cod as my fish choice. Food came out fairly quick. They call your number and you pick it up at the counter. My clam chowder was to die for. Lots of fresh clams and potatoes. Yum! The fried clams, shrimp and cod looked like it was a little over fried. But I saw other people's plates looking the same so I started to eat mine and absolutely loved it! We stopped in for lunch and, despite the restaurant being almost full, we were able to place our order quickly and find a table without much trouble.One thing that stood out immediately was how tight the seating was. It was difficult for many guests to move between the tables. During our visit, I saw at least three older customers struggling to navigate the narrow aisles, and one woman on crutches had a particularly hard time getting through. Accessibility is definitely an area that could use some attention.The restrooms were also located outside and, unfortunately, were quite dingy and in need of a thorough cleaning. For lunch, we ordered the fish and chips special, crab cakes, and clam chowder. The clam chowder was the biggest disappointment-there was very little seafood and it was mostly potatoes. The crab cakes were also far too salty. I understand that crab cakes are often seasoned aggressively, but these crossed into territory that made them difficult to enjoy. The fish and chips ended up being the saving grace of the meal: crispy, flavorful, and easily the best dish we ordered. We also shared a kombucha, which was refreshing and paired nicely with lunch. Now listen, I've eaten fish in places where the seagulls judged me harder than the chef, but Fisherman's Market in Eugene is the real deal. No fancy bells, no whistle and just honest, no-frills service and fish so fresh you'd swear it still had stories to tell. I wandered in and found a small seating area tucked away, nothing flashy, just folks there for the same reason: good food. And good food it was. The fish was fresh, cooked right, and full of flavor and none of that overworked nonsense, just straight-up tasty. If you're looking for glitz, keep wandering. First time actually sitting down and having dinner here. Iv been coming here for a number of years for the fresh seafood. I was less than impressed with the food. I had ordered the Dungeness crab dinner, the crab meat was very mushy and watery almost like it was frozen and thawed out. I also ordered the captains platter which on the menu says you can get the fish grilled or fried. Apparently they don't grill anything and everything comes fried. They would only grill my 5 little shrimp. Because I asked for them to grill it. My muscles were very chewy and rubbery. Doubt I'll come back for dinner here again. read more

Fun spot for fresh seafood in a casual atmosphere. You walk in and order, they give you a number, and you wait! Ordered a bowl of clam chowder. I am a clam chowder "snob" and I enjoyed it! Clams were fresh and it was served hot, just had too many potatoes. About the time I polished off the bowl my.number was called and my Diablo pasta was ready. Linguine pasta with shrimp and scallops. So glad we found this place. I got the halibut fish and chips for $20 that was very generous. The breading was very light and crunchy and I was very happy. Also enjoyed the waffle fries. My husband got three tacos - halibut, shrimp and lobster. All tacos were very good but would not get lobster next time as the price is higher and was a bit lots in the flavor of the sauce needs to be more on its own. He also felt very generous and might have been fine with just two. The bathrooms are outside and there are keys up front. Very popular but they get the food out pretty quick. Our second stop on our road trip from Seattle to the Bay Area. We ordered the clam chowder, fish n' chips with one of the fish specials (ling cod), crab cakes, and lobster taco. The clam chowder & fish n' chips were the stars of the show here! The fish n' chips had the perfect fry, super thin and crispy, no mush, and an amazing contrast with the juicy fish inside. The fries here were also pretty good, especially with the cajun sauce (even though the bang bang sauce is their staple, I think). Clam chowder was excellent, though a tad salty for me but a solid standard New England clam chowder with a generous serving of clams (god bless). The crab cakes were interesting--the texture wasn't particularly for me, but I liked that they had a bit of a spicy kick to them! Lobster taco was decent, although I think I would have preferred to eat this without the tortilla. The filling was amazing and the bang bang sauce definitely stood out here and helped to highlight the lobster, but the tortilla didn't mesh too well with the flavors of the filling. I ordered the special Ling Cod Fish n' chips with a cup of crab bisque. There's a sauce bar near the counter where you order where you can get cups of sauces of your choosing which they have a great variety of along with various toppings for your food. The crab bisque was rich and creamy and was well-seasoned. I love the generous amount of crab meat they put inside and it was one of the best soups that I've had. So I've given this place a few chances and every time a disappointment. This time I try delivery. "Captains Platter." Whether I'm there or delivery, 1/4 lb clam strips are not even close. My wife wanted soup or chowder so we tried Fisherman's Market in Eugene. Excellent choice! We shared a bowl of the clam chowder, a bowl of the seafood stew, and a couple pieces of fried salmon. Best decision ever. The stew was tomato based, lots of fish and just a bit of heat. The New England chowder was flavorful with lots of clams and potatoes. Salmon was equally good; the coating was light and their homemade tartar sauce very good. They offer 6 other sauces besides tarter and ketchup, which is a nice option. They have live fish and seafood, plus cases of whole crabs, fish filets and much more. Their cole slaw looked really good, but we had already eaten. Eugene is only 2 hours from home; we will be stopping there again. read more

Does it get more fresh than this? You can just when you walk in, this place is going to be good. What really stood out to me was that the place did not smell like fish! How did they do that? They have fresh fish for sale and crabs and other shell fish. Fresh made sauces. Many many options. I went with the healthier option and got a ahi sand. Wow! I've never had anything like this. This is one of the local restaurants that serves seafood and other burgers consistently good with excellent staff. I always come back whenever I want to eat seafood! My favorites are the Cajun boil bag, Sarayo shrimp tacos, burgers and clam chowder. Really flavorful--came with a kick that creeps up on you. The lobster taco was good, I think I would have preferred that it wasn't batter fried, but nonetheless it was still tasty. 10+ years since our last visit and I wasn't yelping yet, so this review is long over due! On another trip to watch our daughter play in a volleyball tournament, this time in Corvallis. But of course, we need to make a stop through Eugene and get food from Fisherman's market! Everything still looks the same except for the workers and the restaurant was still packed. After finding parking in the surrounding neighborhood, we walk in glance at the menu and order: Captain's plate, bowl of chowder, and two fish (grilled Wahoo) tacos one of each style. Since it's been at least 10 years since our last visit, we took pictures with the local fisherman (you'll know once you're in the restaurant). After waiting 15 minutes the cook asked our number and he couldn't find out it, so they cook our order "on the fly". They apologized for the delay but we didn't care after driving/sitting for 7 hours in the car. But 5 minutes later all our food was ready to take back to our hotel. Everything was delicious and they have new sauces which only enhance the flavor the food. I didn't care for their Asian Sauce; it had an earthy taste due to the cucumber (not my favorite food). Their "bang bang" sauce is a winner: mild and sweet which is ironic since the sauce is called "bang bang". Oh their cocktail sauce had more kick than the bang bang sauce due to the horseradish in it...my nose is still running. LOL I almost forgot the food. The fish tacos were packed with fish, slaw, and topped with a generous amount of queso. Each style had great flavor and the recommended grilled fish (not fried) was perfect! A good charred taste of the Wahoo fish. The Captain plate was unrecognizable since my wife almost ate half of it before I could take the picture (& there's still plenty of food in the basket) Overall, I was recommend anyone looking for some great seafood, then don't pass by when you're in or going thru Eugene, OR! read more

Also when you walk in you'll notice the wonderful scenery in here as well as the smell of fresh seafood. The atmosphere is a laid back place with picnic type tables. You go to the counter and order from the menu above. The menu is quite varied so you have lots of options The staff is really helpful if you have questions about the menu items. Wowee! Best decision we made all day! We sampled their tacos at a food truck yesterday and loved them. Today we went to their restaurant and market and we were blown away!
