Better call first and make sure they will take your order before you drive 20 minutes on a Friday at 1:00pm. Came in and waited 5 minutes just to be told they aren't taking any orders. What kind of business is that. Lobby wasn't even full.

I had ordered from here Friday (01/15/2021) for my other half and I, I was not disappointed in the least. I've been wanting to try this place for so long and have heard so many great things. I was able to finally experience this all first hand! The food was very tasty Presentation was on point The portions were pretty stellar too! We will be returning and will be regulars! Thank you!

    Take out mess!

Update: 6/24/2020 tried this location again and take out was a mess, sauce all over the bag, absolutely ridiculous. This SUCKS! Because their food is good, but their attention to detail sucks! This was my new favorite restaurant. But the last two visits have ended in disappointment. Both times all they had was chicken. No pork, no beef. What the heck? One visit was dinner time and another was lunch. I'm about done wasting my tile with this place. Also the empseem mad at the world.

Don't be stingy and put more food on the regular plate !!! Customer service was alright Food came quick , Now I'm just goin yap so this review can go up :) 02-21-24

Very small amount of food for 8.50. Half the size and twice as sloppy.

The staff playing and yelling from the kitchen. No drinks no beef no service. Middle of day so I assume the manager is part of playtime.

We came from Hawaii less than a year ago. I guess the creator calls it Authentic Hawaiian plate lunches, but I tell you, it is so far from authentic, it tastes strictly Mainland. The only thing authentic is the names of some of the food. They have a Regular size plate, Alii (which offers three scoops) and Dakine (which is super small). Dakine does not mean small in Hawaiian pidgin. The teriyaki sauce tasted like shoyu and some sugar, and was extremely watery. Teri sauce is usually syrupy, thick like pancake syrup. The Mac salad was salty, mayonaissy, and peppery. My husband got the teriyaki beef and kalua pig. The Teriyaki beef was not cut like back home. It was small pieces like bulgogi, and was lacking ginger. They didn't have lomi lomi with the kalua pig. And needless to say, the whole restaurant was lacking Polynesians. The hāole girl at the counter didn't even understand what my man was saying. When I worked in a Japanese grocery store, I learned the lingo. How else do you give authenticity. Hawaiian Time is definitely on some Hawaiian Time. I bet the workers don't even know what the phrase "Hawaiian Time" means. Never again. It was rubbish to put it nicely. PS They offer huli huli chicken, which has a distinct scent. I did not smell huli huli in the building at all. Also, the pics others posted of huli huli chicken looks nothing like huli huli chicken. It looks like a wtf...

Hanging from the ceiling are roughly a dozen colorful umbrellas. There is no shortage of visuals in this restaurant. The food: Beignets - we tried the classic and the Berry White. Both were great, but I'd give a slight nod to the original. The one buried in powdered sugar helps keep the texture of the Beignet. The Pickle Gambit - super thinly lengthwise sliced pickles in a light batter. Comes with chipotle aioli and ranch. Good portion size. One of the best fried pickles I've ever had. Ned's 5-Alarm Chicken - really good crust and very flavorful. One regret is we didn't go waffles with this. Lemon Poppyseed Slaw - tastes like a classic slaw. A little sweet and creamy. Goes really well with the heavier dishes that we got. The Shrimp Incident - small shrimp and sliced sausage with a Cajun cream sauce and crostini. We thought this was ok Country Mac - my favorite part was the fried chicken as it was very tender and flavorful. The shell shaped pasta was cooked al dente - it was firmer than I would like partly due to the pasta being on the thick side. The Mac is Cajun forward and not very cheesy. Staff was very friendly. We enjoyed our meal, but it was definitely on the heavier side and could have used something to balance it out.

The chicken fingers are huge and seriously delicious! I honestly think they're some of the best chicken fingers I've had in Salem! The garlic fries were really good too, tons to garlic. And, as always, the staff were super nice, friendly, and welcoming. Definitely a spot we'll keep coming back to!

They have a good amount of vegan and gluten then friendly alternatives too. The prices were a steal for the portions I got -especially the toast and chia pudding. One meal was enough to feed me all day, and the Spanish coffee I got was mixed perfectly. Seats are extremely limited, but the service was super fast so even with a full plate you get in and out comfortably in under an hour. Other reviews mention rude service staff, but my experience was the total opposite. I wish I could've gotten her name to give her a shout-out. :) I do have to mention the lack of parking. There were still empty tables when the parking lot was already completely full. There were maybe eight parking spots altogether, but that would be my only complaint.

House made of course so it's even better than the store bought stuff in my opinion because it tastes like actual chocolate. I ordered the filet minion chicken fried steak and it was cooked to perfection. So juicy inside and crispy but not like overly cooked crispy on the outside! Topped with a hot gooey layer of house made sausage gravy. The overall size of this steak was about as big as my face. To complement this enormous steak was eggs, a biscuit & some smashed Yukon potatoes..like they were literally small potatoes they just smashed which was really different to me because I've never seen that before. I also had to order the infamous cinnamon roll pancake I been seeing floating around on other people's reviews. IT IS A MUST.. and if you are ordering it to take home make sure you have a piece of it while it's still hot and fresh because that was to die for. I won't go more into detail about it you just have to try it. It will speak for its self. Overall the dinning experience was great! Servers were more than happy to get you whatever you need. We sat at the bar so y'all should try their drinks because they looked so good and the bartenders looked like they were having fun making them. The restaurant is a literal house and while charming it is small and packed inside and the parking lot is also really small so you may need to get there early or expect to park somewhere else in the streets. We got there an hour after they opened and it was only a 30 minute wait thankfully. Will be coming back again to try other menu items!
