My husband and I have been ordering food from here for over a year now . We really enjoy their food, it's authentic and delicious. However, the past couple of times we ordered food to take home they have skimped out massively on their rice and beans . They don't give nearly enough as they used to or should and this breaks my heart . This past weekend we ordered three plates and the amount of rice and beans was ridiculous! It wasn't even a full scoop . I should've taken pictures to show but it didn't cross my mind as I was just really dissapointed! Came here with my husband and we are blown away! The service and food are amazing and the best part? Fresh tortillas made in house that are included with most plates! On top of that, they give you a complimentary flight of different salsas to try with your chips. They were ALL amazing. At some point, one of the waitresses (I'm assuming the owner) asked my husband and I if we like spicy salsas and we said yes. She then brought us a batch of a spicy salsa that was also just as amazing. I had the carnitas plate and my husband had the huevos rancheros so we split both. Best Mexican breakfast and carnitas in the high desert hands down. The only thing I will say is the rice and beans were so good that I wish it came with a little more. Based on the photo I posted, I feel the rice and beans portion was a little small for a Mexican restaurant and the amount of carnitas given. The inside is also very home-y. I felt like I was eating at my moms house. There's only about 7 tables to sit so I don't know if there's usually a wait on the weekends when they have menudo. Kudos to the chef this food not only tasted muy Delicioso. I felt like my mama had made it. Start with the 4 salsa option they give each had such a favorable profile non in my opinion were hot they added flavor and to the dishes and chips. Now the carne asada torta was a perfect balance of meat to bread ratio and the beans gave it a creamy feel add the fresh onions and tomato's say less 10/10. Tacos were fresh and moist my only suggestions is you have homemade tortilla that I would use in the tacos or give that option. Next the breakfast scrambled eggs were done correctly not dry at all.. pancakes were a good size and fluffy. The only thing I was not impressed with is the Menudo it was a very weak broth and the meat just was bland. I will try the pozole next time to see how that hits. Stopped by today the services was okay, the waitress seemed mad. Never checked up on us unless we waved her down. The food had no flavor , asked for a caldo de res, the broth was flavorless. I ordered the special, Albondiga soup. The broth is best described as water. The vegetables were fresh, the meatballs were tasteless. The corn tortillas were homemade, but missing one ingredient, flavor. I also ordered the Senior plate of the taco combo. The carnitas in the taco tasted as if they were cured like ham. The beans tasted canned and the rice was undercooked. If you want to eat there, stick to the chips and the array of perfectly prepared salsas. I asked for a container to take the soup home. The waitress told me there were no containers for soup. My lunch buddy not only ordered Queso Birria, she pointed at the picture in the menu. The waitress brought her Quesadillas. I think they are starting off very good!! Quality of food is great, it is a very small restaurant with about 7-8 tables so it does get packed very easily during the weekends. I had the menudo(available only weekends) and it was a 4/5 stars on my personal favorite list now. Came here excited to try since it was on tik tok, as soon as we got there we had to ask to be seated. We ordered a chilaquiles plate that menu stated had potatoes and beans when we get our plate it has rice beans and chilaquiles. We ordered Cade de la olla which tasted just like decaf coffee and we got the drinks 2 minutes before our meal. We asked for a side of potatoes thinking they were gonna be like the ones in the picture but they brought out French fries that were stale. The rice was hard and not fresh. Beans had no flavor whatsoever. When we asked about our plate the waitress says menu has changed we should've asked them before hand- but I'm thinking how were we supposed to know to ask? We asked for extra salsa and she said we couldn't have any until we completely finished the one we had (which we almost did). We asked for a cup of water and when we received our bill she said she charged the waters bc water isn't free when it was TAP WATER. when we asked to remove the potatoes since we didn't them (only tasted) she said how come if they were cooked this morning---when clearly they were STALE! There is so much to improve here, Starbucks doesn't even charge for water that's FILTERED. Customer service was horrible. First and last time stepping foot in this place. The beans could be a lot better consider they claim to be 100% authentic, almost taste like canned beans.. Hubby tried the eggs, potatoes and sausage plate. He enjoyed them all, but his favorite was asada and al pastor. I was asked my preference for how I wanted my chilaquiles cooked, soft or crunchy.
