We've been here a few times, shortly after they opened, several months later and most recently on Valentine's Day. The one marked difference is the rice to fish ration in rolls. They are significantly more rice than filling, some barely had a visible fish piece and so much so, it was nearly impossible 6o identify it. I really really wanted to love this place, but it just missed the mark for me. My daughter and I tried the shumai (which wasn't terrible), the surf and turf roll, the spicy tuna roll, beef udon, edamame (this was good), grilled mussels, yellowtail appetizer, and all the nigiri. First everything and I mean everything needed seasoning. All tasted watered down or something and all the sushi was simply rice. Here's my review of Haya Sushi. First off I'd like to mention that it's only 8 minutes from my house. So, when I need a quick AYCE sushi fix I go to Haya. I've been there literally dozens of times since it opened. It's not the best I've ever had and it's definitely not the worst experience either. It is what it is. Don't expect premium sushi at an AYCE sushi restaurant, that's unrealistic for the price for sure. Don't complain that they charge you for uneaten food. That rule is literally posted EVERYWHERE. The service is somewhat spotty. One minute they're all over your table helping you and the next they will walk by your pile of empty dishes six times. Also, it's sorta a PITA to have to ask for what I consider "essential" sushi items like ginger and wasabi. Once in a while the rolls definitely don't taste fresh like leftovers from the day before type of thing. Also one time they left the plastic wrapper that my crab stick was wrapped with in my roll, the wrapper was in multiple pieces of my roll. I'm not one to really make a big deal out of stuff like that and when I mentioned the situation to the waitress she proceeded to tell the other staff at the waitress station who all got a good laugh about that. Didn't mention anything to the sushi chefs at all. A lot of weird little situations like that have made my review 3 stars. But, as I mentioned beforehand it's super close so I overlook things maybe I wouldn't otherwise. Quick, basic, but decent sushi Came here on their opening night, because we like sushi places and wanted to give this one a try. Got seated right away and given small menus to select from. We ordered a smattering of dishes. Takoyaki, Shumai, dumplings, crab Rangoons, sushi, a couple specialty rolls, and a fried Oreo for dessert. Most of our food came out very rapidly. The servers were new but friendly, always made sure our drinks were filled and our plates cleared. So service was good. The food was okay. They go for quantity rather than quality and it shows in spades. The execution is done well for an all you can eat place, they go heavy on the rice but they season the rice properly. The portions are smaller but you can order to your hearts content. The hiccups we had were also small but plentiful. They are Very adamant about their "no leftover" policy. We were constantly reminded that not eating everything would lead to separate charges for each item. Some items were not very good, but we had to eat them. Which we were constantly reminded of whenever we left even a single piece uneaten. We also cannot eat a lot, but still wanted to have one more roll to try. We placed in an order for this roll 4 times, and never got it. It's priced well for an all you can eat sushi place. It's a nice location and they can turn out a lot of food very quickly when they want to. This place is a trap. The AYCA (All You Can Eat) bit is genius because they charge you $28 a person and once one person orders AYCA, everyone has to order AYCA. The plates are small and they don't hurry back with a menu so you can order more. The food was also so bland and we had to repeatedly ask for our drinks and refills. Haya Sushi in Enfield is brand new to the town. They have so far been open for just under a month. I went here last night. They are All You Can Eat with a twist. Unlike other All You Can Eat Sushi Restaurants, this one is strictly All You Can Eat. Their cost per person is slightly less than at other establishments. It also costs the same during the week or the weekend. At $24.95, I'd say, that's pretty fair. I'm wondering if this cost is promotional because they're brand new. The space inside was spacious, clean, bright and inviting. It was very busy with Sushi lovers. They are currently not serving alcohol because they are waiting for the liquor license. Their menu is broad. There's all types of sushi rolls, soups, salads, they even have fries, chicken wings and more traditional items. Sashimi will cost you $0.50 for each piece. We were a party of five hungry first time guests of Haya Sushi. We had to mark up the menu of all the items we wanted. I was so impressed with how quickly they brought the food out. Despite being busy, and despite being new, they still had plenty of staff to flawlessly distribute the food where it was needed. One of the rolls I got was called Orange Blossom. It had nothing to do with oranges, but it was super fresh and delicious. Another tasty one was Shaggy Dog. Thankfully it has no relation to dogs, but it was again very fresh and flavorful. So excited Haya Sushi opened a second location in Connecticut! We've been up to their Springfield, MA location a few times and happy we have a closer option! Haya Sushi has a really extensive kitchen items which is awesome for your non-sushi lovers. They have some fun and unique specialty rolls like the Surf & Turf, Mexican Sunrise or Shaggy Dog. These specialty rolls are our go-to! We brought a party of 6 to our first visit to Enfield and went a little overboard. They brought out all our sushi on a boat and it was insane!!! Diners beware! We were a party of 6...4 adults and 2 kids. They sat us at a booth and gave us 1 piece of paper to order from. We asked for menus as we did not all want all you can eat. The server brought us one regular menu. We asked for menus for all the adults so we could make decisions. They told us if we were not all ordering all you can eat, we would have to sit at separate tables. We thought she was kidding...split up our family be cause of their ordering rules? When I first walked in, the atmosphere felt off, but based on the online reviews, I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, neither the food nor the customer service stood out. Near the end of my meal, I had two rolls left and asked if I could take them home for an additional charge. I also asked what the charge would be. Instead of answering, my waitress said, "If you leave a 5-star review, you can take them home for free." Since my experience didn't warrant a 5-star review, I declined and asked again about the fee. After pausing for a while, she said it would be $10 and again suggested leaving a 5-star review to avoid paying. This made me uncomfortable and gave the impression that positive reviews are being incentivized rather than earned. Additionally, the waitress smelled strongly of cigarettes, which was unpleasant while trying to enjoy a meal. On 7/25/2025 my family of 7 dined... Food was pretty good. HOWEVER my ONE STAR is attributed to their outright deceptive and purposely contrived dishonest check!! Be very attentive when receiving your check. They "secretly" add a 22% gratuity into your total WITHOUT indicating it . Following that is three separate lines suggesting a tip: 18% - 20% - 22%. Each Tip option already has your new total calculated. Not aware they added the gratuity to the total I choose to add a 20% tip. luckily, my son paused and questioned the total. They charge per person and adding the food tax he realized the total was 22% higher than it should be. He called the server over and asked if the total included the tip. You could see the "nervousness" look on her face and she said, "oh yea it was built in". My son then asked her how were we supposed to know this when after the total are the options for the tip? She just shrugged and told us to cross out the added tip and we would be charged only the total. At this point I wanted to speak to the owner or manager to give them "a piece of my mind", telling him/her how downright sneaky their check was and I wanted them to remove their "hidden tip" completley because of their dishonesty. Finally checked this place out. Food was really good. They have good portions as to not get full on one thing too quickly. Staff was friendly. She explained how it worked and then just came back to bring food and water. I also liked the painting on the wall that basically tells you how it works. Order, eat, don't waste. I enjoyed everything we ordered even sushi's I hadn't tried before. The shumai and carb Rangoon were big hits for all of us. I enjoyed the grilled mussels as well. The night started as our reservation not being honored and having to wait 30 minutes for our table. When we were seating we ordered our appetizer and rolls(about 5). We got our appetizer and then only 3 rolls. When we finished those we figured our other rolls were forgotten so we ordered them again, for another 30 minutes to go by with nothing being delivered. When we talked to who we thought was a manager she didn't seem to care and seem annoyed we even complained. The sushi took a while to come out which is expected when it's busy. The other hot food that my friends had was great by their reports. We went to Haya on New Years Eve 2024 and were not disappointed. We both chose the all you can eat menu. The food was excellent! I have been eating sushi for years and this may have been my favorite meal. In particular was the sushi eel. A key for me that indicates how clean a restaurant is, is how good their water tastes. The water at HAYA was crystal clear and tasted better than any bottled water I have tried. The place itself is spotless. They were well staffed, and all the servers were more than attentive. We did not wait more than a minute or two before we were seated. The servers promptly cleared the tables after guests left making it ready for the new guests to be seated. My family and I went there Sunday at noon, when they just opened. The corner booth had a very bad smell, so we asked to change tables. The restaurant was just mopped and smelled of rank mop water. We should have left then. There is a small paper for the whole table to mark with a pencil what everyone wants to order. The miso soup was clearly from a packet, the gyozas were very odd looking and tasted like they have been thawed and frozen a couple of times. The sushi was the worst part. The avocado was brown, the cucumber was soft and mushy, and the fish was dry. The rice and seaweed were also dry. I suspect this was last nights sushi. We told our server and she took out rolls away but then brought them back and said the chefs told her it's supposed to be like that. You can honestly buy better sushi at a truck stop gas station. We asked to get a reduced bill so we can leave as we did not eat much of this. They gave us a 20% discount and still added a 18% gratuity. This place will make someone sick. I have come here 3 times and the first time it was fine the food is mid, very average. The second time I came to celebrate a birthday being a party of 4 and they put us in a big table but then wanted us to move to a smaller table which was just kind of weird and rude. Then tried to charge us for 5 people and added 20% tip without telling us. And during the time they were just in general rude seeming like they didn't want to be there and like we were inconveniencing them. Then we came again even after the bad experience just to try to give them the benefit of the doubt and once again they failed us. It was extremely hot and they had an unplugged in fan. Kind of seemed like they wanted it to be uncomfortably hot in there so that you would leave earlier. We told them we were uncomfortably hot and asked if they could plug in the fan which they did so that was decent of them. Then we asked for an extra paper menu because there was 4 of us and it was hard for all of us to look at one tiny menu. The waiter rolled her eyes and then after that she was just acting rude and annoyed. Wouldn't suggest this place there's another all you can eat sushi place that is wicked fresh, no extra charge for sashimi, nice employees and not too far from here. Shokudo Sake bar is WAY BETTER. I went there Saturday 1/17 but before I want, I called and ask if they have regular menu and they said yes because we were 3 three people coming from Hartford. one person doesn't eat sushi. so, when we got there were told that we can't do one regular menu and two all you can eat. it has to be the same for all on one table, although we called ahead and found out before we head down there. So, we didn't want the other person to site away from us so we just did all you can eat for all of us. let me start off by saying this is our first time eating there and would be the last time. there was two people sitting in the table and all the items we order had 2 pieces on a plate. the waiter never said there is two pieces per plate that if we want to double up on the item and she barley speaks English and no one came over to help with anything. after the first round of food we order and came the second never came out and the waiter took the paper from us, which we though she put the order in. 1/2 hrs later she came back and said if we order anything else and I said yes, you took our paper, did you not put the order in because we been waiting for over 1/2 for our second order. I told her just forget it. just give us the check. so three people cost $90 which include 2 soda and we couldn't eat any food and again NO ONE came over to talk to us or to resolve the issue. what a horrible place. Tried HAYA Sushi yesterday, and it was much better than I expected. The light, refreshing soup was a great start, very simple but effective. Some standout dishes for me were the Takoyaki, Tempura Shrimp, and Mussels (which were dressed up). My mom, who was trying sushi for the first time, really enjoyed the HAYA roll, a deep-fried cooked snow crab roll before moving into the Conroe (a more traditional raw roll) which we also enjoyed. Service was quick and efficient, with staff staying attentive without being intrusive. Everything came out fresh and at the perfect pace for an all-you-can-eat spot. I'll definitely be back and hope this place sticks around!
