I was bad and put off getting my wisdom teeth extracted. I finally began searching for someone. I found out that the xrays were so bad, no one would do the work. I mean, I called everyone on my provider list in Hayward, San Lorenzo. San Leandro and Castro Valley. Out of desperation, I began calling people out of my coverage. Dr Fong agreed. It took 3 hours to do one side. (I needed both sides). He said it was one if the hardest extractions he has done. He has declined to do the other side, but will be giving me a referral for the other side. His office called me 2x a week during recovery to check on me. I have switched dental plans. I am thinking of switching dentists entirely because he is forthright, communicates clearly and his staff is wonderful. read more

I was a patient of Dr. Fong's for several years until I moved out to the Central Valley and the drive was too far while I was working. I have been having pain in a tooth on a bridge that Dr. Fong did for me 16 years ago. My new dentist in Patterson didn't think anything was wrong, but the issue persisted. I reached out to Dr. Fong's office and quickly got an appointment to see him. He took the time to listen to exactly what I was feeling with the tooth and bridge and figured out the problem. He gave me multiple options for solution down the road, as the issue wasn't a dire one, but also took the time to do an adjustment that was instantly a relief. I have anxiety and hadn't seen a dentist since before Covid, and he was very good with me during a somewhat emergent visit. He addressed all my concerns ahead of time and took the time to personally review and explain options. I even received a follow-up call that evening to make sure I was doing OK. Like many people, my son is never thrilled to visit the dentist especially when it comes to extracting his wisdom teeth. However, Dr Fong and his team were very welcoming when you walk in and made us feel at home. He's funny, has great communication and explained everything thoroughly which made my son and us feel at ease. In addition, he has fantastic follow through which you don't see nor expect from any dentist. Lastly, we are amazed how great my son is doing after his extraction. After waiting for so long to remove my wisdom teeth due to the timing never being right and not really finding an office I felt comfortable with, I came across Dr. Fong via google and Yelp. Seeing all the great reviews, especially concerning teeth removal, made me reach out as it sounded exactly like the place I was looking for. I spoke with Sylvia, who was always so kind and helpful, and finally, after a year, I was able to really put the process in motion. I reached back out to Sylvia, who was just as nice as the initial interaction, and finally got a consultation set up, which was very easy. Coming in, it was such a cozy nostalgic office (with plenty of parking), and I got to meet Mia; Mia was just as kind and helpful as Sylvia, so it was awesome to see all the staff were so great. Meeting Dr. Fong, he was super friendly and informative, just like his staff, and I finally felt comfortable with an office to get this procedure done. I scheduled right after my consultation to come in a week later for the procedure. When I came for the procedure, I finally got to meet Sylvia, and she and Mia made sure I felt welcomed and prepared. When Dr. Fong arrived he too was so welcoming, and the staff as a whole made me feel super comfortable; they all communicated so thoroughly. My teeth were out in a bit under an hour, Dr. Fong and Mia communicated with me the entire time - it all went well! After the surgery, Sylvia followed up with me, and so did Dr. Fong on several occasions. They were sure to be available for any questions or concerns, which I truly appreciated. I had the most diabolical toothache in the history of man, and my regular dentist could not perform the extraction necessary to remedy the pain, so she referred me to an oral surgeon in her network that was out of town and could not fix me for a week. Unacceptable. Thank God for yelp, I was able to find Dr. Fong and they were able to book as early as I could come in. This is my first yelp review in a couple of years, I mean, I've lost some faith in some businesses and in people in general, but I have to give this office the props they deserve. The office staff was super friendly, and totally genuine. Not the fake nice that you get from normal receptionists who give you fake smiles and fake sweet voices because it's their job. These people were genuinely kind and attentive. Filled out some straightforward paperwork, took an x-ray, and saw the doctor. No waiting in a waiting room, then waiting in an x-ray room, then waiting in a chair etc... Came in, they did everything efficiently and the doctor came and took care of me. He took about 15 minutes asking and answering questions and explaining the procedure, and then another 10 minutes performing the "surgery." I was awake and anesthetized only in the area he was cutting, and honestly, I didn't even realize that the tooth was already out until he said, "okay, I'm done." Quick, painless and a breeze. Now the service and price itself deserve five stars, but this guy went above and beyond. The staff was babysitting my 8 year old son in the waiting room when his ipod touch ran out of battery, and the doctor called and asked his son to bring him a charger. Needless to say, my boy did not get bored waiting for me to finish. The follow up- world class. That evening, the office staff called to make sure I was okay, and then Dr. Fong even took a call at an Oakland A's game to answer questions. Yes, they gave me his cell phone in case I had an emergency over the weekend. I have scheduled appointments for the rest of my family. The dentist is not usually something I get too excited about, but this place rocks. To the professionally feng shui office, to the excellent staff, to the doctor, five stars all around. read more

Went in for a wisdom tooth extraction and I have to say, he was quick to the point, took less than 10 minutes, and mind you, I was a walk-in trying to set up an appointment for later that week. I loved that he didn't try to give me an expensive procedure which makes me all that more comfortable coming here. Dr Fong has been my dentist for maybe the past 30 years or more? Not only is he and the office staff very warm, personable, truly caring and helpful, but Also trustworthy. I know they will never try to sell me services I don't need or charge more than what is fair. And most importantly Dr. Fong and his hygienist do great work. Even on cleanings, Dr. Fong does the work himself. It really takes skill and experience even in a cleaning because it's an art to clean teeth well without damaging them. I was going to some other dentists for a few years when I moved to the tri valley due to proximity. But they never did a good job cleaning my teeth and it was also the hygienist who did it. The hygienists who were cleaning my teeth just didn't have the touch. And The dentist would do a quick glance afterwards but really not add much value.
