I love this hair salon! Although it's on the pricier side of things, it's the skillset that the proves worth it. They were able to give me my dream haircut, along with being able to take my hair from black to blonde. It's never an easy process but both the stylist and the colorist made the process enjoyable. The hair speaks for itself! My stylist did an amazing hair cut, I wanted a different look after having long hair for so long and he really listened to what I wanted. Made me feel so comfortable when I was nervous about doing such a big change. He took his time really perfecting the cut. I went to a party afterwards and got so many compliments! Love the fresh cut! Thank you Takao. This place is so unique. It's like a factory or flea market made this whole place. It has cafe station, mini Japanese market, nails do and hair do. I know Japanese salon price point is usually above other salons, but I really believe their skill and effort is worth the price. I always respect and love how serious and carefulness Japanese hairstylists are. They are very friendly, kind and polite. This review is not a reflection of their work but miscommunication and lack of proper follow up. The salon is industrial like and not just a salon so that's quite unique. It's still new and I'm sure it'll be happening eventually. I've been to other salons(LES/midtown) and services has always been top notch. Please note they only offer one price for haircuts and for men it is $58 price. The frustrating and disappointing experience was the fact that I had emailed for a regular stylist at $38 and they said to call for an appointment which I did. They didn't notify that they only offered the master stylist price until I arrived at the salon which I found out myself through their signage. I understand this is perhaps a simple miscommunication and oversight but the lack of apology and poor communication is why I am giving 3 stars. Thank you. read more

The haircut: Tetsu did and excellent job and has a good eye. He kept it very conservative and gave me a very clean, flattering cut with thoughtful attention to detail. The experience: I am overjoyed to have found someone so thoughtful and gentle. I put off getting my haircut for months and months past due because even people who give good haircuts are usually inadvertent but intolerable monsters when it comes to the actual handling of the hair and are constantly pulling my hair, snagging it, ripping it out when they remove a clip, etc. Like why on earth do you start combing at the top of the hair and not the bottom? Not Tetsu! He took a bunch of time with the wash and the combing and the cut and never pulled a single hair once. And he was quiet. No horrible fake forced small talk at the end of a long work day or needless noise and chatter in the salon. It was immaculate in there, and calming, and quiet, while still being welcoming. Such a wonderful oasis from the usual sensory overload of a regular salon. Love love love it and will definitely be back. And OMG the price was so reasonable. read more

He explained everything from beginning to end, even how easy it will be for me to blow dry without using brush. You want an even cut and a hairdresser who listens, Keji is your guy. in the past I did like the haircut, so I came back. This time I did not like results, and the hairdresser seemed quite distracted with chatting and not so much focused on details as I expected from this place. The cut did not turn out to be the way I believed was envisioned so additional layers were added to my haircut after drying - and it definitely does not look good the very next day when drying hairs by myself.
