It was so pleasant to work with Wei and his team. Before we start the remodeling process, I was very stressed out (my first time remodeling). After we finished, I was very happy with the end result. I feel lucky to be working with this team that was responsive and professional. Their expertise and diligence made this demanding project a smooth ride instead of a headache. I was first impressed by the team's responsiveness. I communicate with Wei via text message. Whenever I have a question, I just text him. He always responds right away. For complicated issues, he gives me a quick call back to address the details. I found out later that it's extremely important to have access to the project manager. The reason is that the remodeling process is full of unexpected issues. Wei's responsiveness ensured the issues gets communicated right away. The right decision gets made. And the project moves along. While there are always delays in the remodeling projects. our project was finished in time as we expected. Wei and his team also have solid technical expertise in the remodeling work. They worked diligently to find solutions for unexpected issues as they go through the process. For example, we removed the carpet and installed hardwood floors in my house. After the team removed the carpet, they found a big problem- the floor was unevenly distributed. Half of the floor was in mint condition and half in raw condition. They tested a few ways to find the best solution to level up the floors. The finished hardwood floor looked spotless- smooth and perfect. I'm extremely happy with the result. Their craftsmanship was also top notch. The team has lots of experience with their work. They act professionally and communicate well. If I have a design in mind, I communicate with the team, and the team realize my design. When I was unable to make a decision, they provided me advice with the best professional practice. I learned a lot from their expertise. I felt lucky to have workers who really know what they are doing, and execute with their experience. I highly recommend Wei and his team for the remodeling/ buildout projects. Designing and remodeling a kitchen can be quite a headache, but the ladies at HB Kitchen and Bath made the process for me painless, fun and easy. I kinda had a general idea in my head, but didn't know what type of cabinets to fill up the empty walls. As soon as I walk past the show room full of beautiful kitchen counters/cabinets on display, I was greeted by the friendly and knowledgeable ladies in the front desk. I gave them the measurements in my kitchen, and they were able to draft a 3D layout and a quote that consisted the total number of cabinets, moldings and drawers needed. After we agreed on the price and plan, they placed an order 2 weeks out for delivery. No complaints on the delivery process, because everything arrived on time as agreed and delivery man did not nicked my door frames nor scratched my floors. I waited to write this review to see how well their cabinets (I went with Alice Cabinetry line) can hold up to one year of Chinese cooking. My initial phone contact with Mike was friendly, inviting and they actually answer their phones unlike other companies, I knew it was a good omen from the start. When I came into the showroom and was greeted by Mike he showed me lots of options for my kitchen remodel/upgrade. I had never considered what he had suggested which has turned out to be the most spectacular selection. My project then was turned over to Ann who worked tirelessly with me to figure out various issues that arose. As a general rule of thumb, I never recommend contractors or strip clubs. The strip clubs because it is creepy you know so much about strip clubs unless the conversation goes like this... hey can you recommend a good strip club in San Francisco... no not really I do not go... but my one coworker says... Anyway... I also never recommend contractors because anything that goes wrong with your friends project is now your fault! Until now... My wife found HB and we had them bid on the remodel of our kitchen. Their offer was the most competitive. Over the years I have worked with MANY different contractors and this is typically how every project has gone: Start work on Monday... tear a bunch or stuff apart so the rooms are unusable..... then over the next 8 weeks you come home and wonder 90% of the time if anything has been done or anyone showed up. This is the first contractor I have worked with where they showed up every day and I could see the work progressing. They finished the project ON TIME... and that was with us making a few changes along the way that was significant. Here is the biggest reason I will use this company again and recommend HB... When we first did the bids we did not have the structural engineering done. Everyone bid the work without the quote to do the structural work on the removal of 2 walls. We got the designs back 1 week before construction. The work was significant. We had to put in 3 beams and 9 posts going down 2 stories to support the removal of 2 walls. At this point, we had been waiting 7 months to start the project. I was super nervous about what the cost would be since I now no longer have the luxury of getting 8 bids... the quote Richard came back with was VERY fair. Communication with Richard was great as well. He responds to e-mail and text messages very quickly. A few other differences between HB and other people I have worked with: 1. There was no petty add on charges for things in the end that you would "assume are included but not spelled out". 2. When we made changes to the project the pricing was fair and in line with the rest of the quote. 3. The workers are quiet and respectful. 4. The workers are clean... they do not leave personal belonging and garbage behind at the end of the day. 5. My trashcan was not picked with construction garbage every week. 6. Each worker does not arrive in a different vehicle taking up every parking spot on the block. 7. When they had an issue or question they confirmed with me on how to handle before making a major change I may not he happy with. So to sum up: 1. Pricing is fair 2. Easy to work with 3. Great communication 4. the final product is great The only reason I have any hesitation in this review... I do not want them to be too busy when I have my next project! read more

HB kitchen is awesome!!! I had my kitchen designed with Ann and the help of another lady there (Vietnamese lady). They were not willing to compromise on how my kitchen looked and cMe up with many different ways to make it more beautiful. I had gone to at least 4 other kitchen stores and their designs and suggestions was far less superior. I had some issues that came up on the date of installation and had to order different cabinets (my fault entirely) and they were able to work with me to made the order from Alice cabinets and I was able to pick up almost immediately. I made several changes that day and in all of the confusion they were amazing. I would truly recommend Ann and all the ladies at HB kitchens for all your kitchen needs!!!! I worked with Richard and Christine last year for a residential renovation in Hayward. I drew the plans and they executed the work on the bathrooms and kitchen. It was a pleasure to work with these 2 - Christine at the showroom and Richard as the project manager. It's best to start a project with all plans drawn and confirmed and finishes selected, priced and approved prior to ordering to ensure the work schedule and budget goes smoothly. As always, there are bumps in any renovation project, for example language barrier with some crews, encountering unforeseen conditions ...... but HB was very accommodating the entire time and make sure you ask for an English-speaking foreman on sight especially if you have any questions. read more

Buyer beware!! If you're doing your own projects, double check your measurements. We remodeled 3 bathrooms in December and purchased all the tiles from HB Kitchen Bath. After selecting what we wanted, order was placed. During the whole transaction conversations referred to master bath, downstairs bath and kids bathroom. This amount of tile could probably cover 2 complete homes. Over 5,000 sq ft of tile later...oops "Too bad, we can't help you and there are no returns. Sales final. Our loss." Delivery guys cracked the concrete of our driveway. Another expense on us. Good news is we donated 100 boxes to Habitat for Humanity and friends and family received half off tiles. If you're interested in Sophie grey tiles or Lido white linen tiles, let me know. Half off offer extended to you too. If there were any hint coming from the manager, we may have caught our mistake. "Are you sure measurement are correct?" Or "you know this is enough to tile 30-40 bathrooms easily!" She had many opportunities to question the quantity of our order. She even dropped off samples to my home. We were not remodeling bathrooms of a mansion. read more

(added 1 bathroom, redid 2 bathrooms, complete redo of kitchen including removing a load bearing wall) Wei is incredibly easy to work with and he really wants to make sure you are happy with the remodel. Every remodel has some changes or the other and Wei is with you every step of the way to make sure everything works out and we love the end results. The quote was competitive and well priced. Note: A few points to consider: 1. You are responsible for your remodel design, which is fine by us because we wanted to design it. 2. We worked with Wei Lao and his team for our major home renovations in 2010... from kitchen, bathrooms, skylights, fixtures, french doors, rounded corners, flooring, garage, and so much more. We also used his team for a custom closet build in 2011. They definitely know how to create an organized space with very little room to work with! Wei's team was incredibly meticulous, ensuring that all projects were done to perfection. He went above and beyond the scope of our renovation project ensuring we were happy every step of the way. I made the mistake of picking a granite slab for our kitchen with too much color variation which I ended up hating. He had it replaced the next day without us incurring double labor charges. Wei also works really well with other contractors (roof, landscaping, pool removal) and gives helpful advice to ensure the entire renovation project is cohesive. He was also great about helping us understand what the entire renovation process entailed, how things worked, what brands and materials to consider, and where to shop. Wei is super friendly and very easy to work with. We loved his attention to detail and the fact that his crew cleaned up every evening when they left. Above all, we really love the fact that Wei stands behind the quality of his work. If we were to call him today and tell him that a tile in our bathroom had broken, we know that we can count on him to come out and replace it with our spare materials. This is our first condo in CA and Wei gave us very valuable advise to help save us money. Wei had great communication; he always called back or texted on the same day. After my parents got their bathroom remodeled by another construction company, I wasn't so keen on hiring that particular company to get our bathroom done. Then thankfully my dad found Wei. He is organized, helpful, and efficient when it comes to the chaotic remodeling process. The workers are also equally professional. They cleaned up the mess and dust after and are also skilled at their jobs. For the bathroom walls I didn't even realize that the walls were uneven until the tiles were put up in an equal fashion. On the floor there was even a gap in between the bathroom tub and floor tiles, but they were able to remedy that by adding a modern accent piece to the floor that matched the accent piece on the walls. Compared to my parent's bathroom mine looks way prettier. After seeing the final product my parents even whined about how their bathroom remodel pales in comparison to ours, especially since theirs cost twice what mine did. read more

When I began shopping for a full guest bathroom remodel, I had just emerged from a partial master bedroom remodel. I felt I could get a more competitive bid if I shopped around a little instead of using the same people. I got some seven people to come and give me their bid for this second (bigger) project. Of the whole lot, HB Kitchen Bath (Aidan, their contractor) gave me a time, arrived at the said time, told me he would send in the bid in two days. The bid was in my inbox at the said time; it was also specific and exhaustive in the way it had spelt out the costs--with task level itemized breakdowns. Once we began the work, the efficiency and accountability continued to impress me. The thing I must also mention is that there are a couple of minor things I wanted HBKB to take care of after I had paid them in full. Aidan has been conscientious about that follow-through as well. We recently finished remodeling two bathrooms with HB Kitchen and Bath and we couldn't be much happier! Two years ago, HB Kitchen and Bath did an awesome job remodeling our kitchen and so we decided to bring them back for the bathrooms remodel project. We selected Porcelanosa wall and floor tiles and vanity cabinets from Alice Cabinetry. Alice cabinets are beautiful, well made, and were reasonably priced for the excellent quality. Wei was our project manager and he took care of all our concerns and change requests. He gave us ample warning for selecting materials prior to the next step in the remodel. If I had any concern, he addressed it and made it clear or gave necessary instructions to his team. During the project, the workers were diligent, polite, and very respectful.
