This is a wonderful and professional bike shop. Candy and Tim have both worked on my bikes and the bikes always come out running better than new. I even purchased a used, vintage bike that was in sad shape. I had taken it to a different bike shop in HB, that was closer to my house, yet they did not fix it at all. Then, I took it to HB Velo Cyclery and Tim worked his magic! They are amazing. read more

Im rating 5 stars because i had the best experience here at HB Velo. Tim was super helpful, knowledgable and was able to diagnose the issue happening with my Super73 bike right away. While updating me along the way, he was able to finish up with everything within 24hours.. even before a major holiday!? The customer service was great even with everything going on before the 4th of July. He answered all my questions and recommended i pop in every 6 or so months to keep the longevity of my E-Bike in good standing. This is definitely my go- to bike shop moving forward. thanks guys! read more

I took my sons balance bike in to have a new back tire put on. Mind you I brought the tire and needed labor only. The person working wasn't friendly and then proceeds to quote me $80 in labor to change a tire. Insulting to be honest. I went home having never changed an electric bikes rear tire and did it in 20 min. read more

Have come here twice for service and a handful of times to buy gear (shoes) and components (cleaning liquids, snacks, etc.). This place is a wonderful local bike store. Candy and his team are really knowledgeable and willing to share some of that knowledge. Their service is top notch - my bike has been maintained really well thanks to these guys. The pricing is more than fair. It's refreshing and a relief to know that your bike is in the hands of trained experts. Would highly recommend! read more

Mr. Candy Lopez is the Service Director at HB Velo Cyclery. If you ever have a bicycle problem whilst riding around the neighborhood or the Santa Ana River bike trail, bring it to his shop. The lovely granddaughter's bike had a rear wheel FLAT, so I removed the whole wheel from her bike and brought it to the HB Velo Cyclery. Candy had no problem with the wheel and quickly replaced the leaky inner tube. It was completed in a flash. His advice is to always make sure before you ride, to check the front and the rear wheels for proper inflated pressure. Inflate the wheels to prevent the inner tube from damage and pinching and sliding inside the outer tire. Good advice and I am glad he is close to the river bike trail for taking care of unplanned events. Thanks to Candy for his expertise and speedy fix. read more

I was charged $35 to change my own tube. I didn't purchase anything. All they did was clean the tire and place a tube. Here's the reason for 1 star. As I was waiting, a customer came in to replace his tube. So he purchased a tube and had it installed. He was charged $27. read more

HB was a lifesaver when I got a flat tire biking along the Santa Ana river - their shop is located right next to path! We stopped by to ask if we could borrow their pump, and it turned out my tube had a crack. Not only did Alejandro go above and beyond providing incredible customer service when helping us with our tire, he also recommended a great bike route (Back Bay) which was a breathtaking ride at sunset. This is our 20 year old tandem right after a full tune up and refresh by Velo. New tires, brakes, brake housing, cables, chains, all bolts lubed...rides like brand new! Candy Lopez is a life saver!! My friend and I found ourselves in a bad spot after riding to the beach from Fullerton on the Santa ana river trail. My inner tube blew up on the ride just as we started our trip back from the beach and we had to walk 2 miles to the nearest bike shop which happened to be HB Velo Cyclery. It was only 9 am but it was getting hot out so we wanted to get the bike repaired before the heat peaked. Despite not being store hours (they opened at 10am) and having a huge workload to keep him busy for a couple days, Candy decided to help out some fellas in need! He was able to help with the tire repair, identify and fix a derailer misalignment and get us back on the trail safely. Without him we would've had to had my girlfriend pick us up and she wouldn't have been a happy camper. Thanks again Candy!! read more

Super thankful to find this bike shop nearby. With bikes being all the rage right now, I was so worried that I would have to wait for a long time and spend most of my day waiting to get my tire fixed. I was so delighted by the speedy service and I was in and out in less than 15 minutes! I will definitely be back for any other bike issues I might have in the future. Been here a few times to pick up CO2/tubes and I finally got a tune up from HB Velo Cyclery. I've been jumping around many bike shops and this is the most welcoming place for sure. Called them, they were rude at answering. Took my bike in and was never fixed at all nor fixed issues. Called them for an update and told me they're busy and only person in store answering the phone with oily hands. Took my bike back to my trusted mechanic and literally questioned how i was able to ride my bike with that condition with everything loose. Im a newbie but pls don't ever take advantage of people who's learning about cycling and just needed their bike fixed. Stayed anonymous since people bash you for telling your experience. Ohh! Plus that fee I paid $200, made me realize i paid for nothing other than them seeing the bike and giving it back! 3 big things that was actually off from it and they didnt say shit about it! read more

I want to start saying that I've been a customer for 3 years. Today I experienced a very bad service, and the employee was having a bad attitude towards me. All I wanted was a bit of help finding what I needed for a bike, and I felt like he was rushing me. I have been going with them for quite some time and today just made me seem disappointed because I never expected one of the employees to have a bad attitude towards his own clients. read more

Excellent selection and even better customer service. My husband has been looking off and on for a size 29 bmx style bike for about a year. We live in Orange so only checked shops in our area with no luck. We were stopping by Dos Amigos for lunch to visit and friend and this shop was in the same parking lot. We walked in and thought we'd just look. The owner helped us and was so nice, genuinely. He had several bikes to chose from and we walked out with a bike. Can't thank him enough! Nice people aren't as commonly found and this was refreshing! read more

Candy, the owner of this shop is incredible! I went into his bike shop this past week and explained that I was having knee pain over the last 2 months on my road bike. It didn't make sense because I've been riding for almost 10 years and never had anything like it. He knew immediately what to do. He asked if I had my cleats changed on the bottom of my shoes recently. Turns out I had and they weren't properly put on at the right angle. He adjusted them and sent me on my way. I rode 40 miles this morning without a single ounce of pain for the first time in 2 months!! Candy also gave my bike a well needed tune up. If you're looking for someone knowledgeable, that you can trust with your bike, Candy is 100% your guy! Thank you Candy!!!! read more

Walked in to get my wife's bike serviced. We were greeted promptly and made to feel welcome. After looking over the bike and asking questions regarding its operation and any issues, we were given a cost estimate which seemed very fair. The next day we received a phone call letting us know the bike was ready. Explanations were given regarding the bike's characteristics and suggestions were provided for preventative maintenance. I was so impressed that I left mine to be serviced as well; got it back the next day and was encouraged to drop by soon to see if anything needs to be tightened up or adjusted as new parts "settle in". Technician Tim and Owner Candy were very professional, friendly, and appreciative of our patronage. The bikes ride great! read more

Love this place but please don't turn your open sign on unless you are open or when a customer grabs the the door and you are 20 feet away looking down come to the door and at least acknowledge the customer you open at 10:00 9:45 is not too early to say you are not open yet almost left but like I said these guys know what they are doing I will always come here read more

Great service, fair prices, no nonsense. Perfect location right by the river bed. Switched out some wheels for me. Great hours, 10am to 7pm. Also invited me to their bike club on Sundays at 8am, great way to build value. We all know how tough it is for the bike industry in regards to availability of anything but I didn't get that vibe from this place nor was Candy trying to up sell me. This place is worth a try. read more

They got so backed up with service work they needed to lock the doors to focus on repairs which created no bike sales or parts sales for the few days they had to close. I know it's tough on some of us that had bikes in behind closed doors, but I respect a business owner to keep his commitment to service and repair the bikes that he had taken in and focus on his service. During the last several weeks they lost a technician and that put some extra workload on the rest of the staff. Mike did a great job servicing our bikes. I also noticed that the owner of the shop, Kevin, has an outstanding relationship with his team and they all share his passion for the customer. I remember going in our 1st time when it was first opened with different owners. They were fantastic & made me feel comfortable. They were not intimidating and the service went great. We took our bikes there a 2nd time, I don't know who the owner was at the time, and everything was fine. This is our 3rd time taking our bikes for service there. This time our experience was not the same under the current ownership. No shade to the owner. He was very nice & pleasant. I'm glad to see a lot of good reviews but that was not my experience. We dropped off our mountain non-e bikes for general service as they weren't running great at the end of the week. He mentioned that they'd be looked at the following Tuesday with an estimate (week 1). He mentioned that it'd be possible to adjust recommended repairs to suit our budget. Great! No problem. Very considerate suggestion. But we didn't hear from him on Tuesday or any day that 1st week. We tried calling a couple times that week but no answer. We tried stopping by at 11 (posted opening time was 10) and there was a note on the door they open at noon. We stopped by another day & it seems there was a family emergency so he'd get to us the 2nd week. We got busy and another week rolled around and a 2nd Tuesday with no news on the repair estimate. We called a couple times the 2nd week & there was no answer. We stopped by around 4:30 and it was closed (posted closing time was 6). We called again that weekend & he said his tech would come in the next Tuesday, the 3rd week, to look at the bikes. At this point, the bikes are sitting in the shop for 2 full weeks going on a 3rd before anyone even looks at them for an estimate. This does not inspire confidence that the bikes would even be done that 3rd week. While maybe they would have finally been repaired in the 3rd week, we decided cut our losses & take our bikes elsewhere. I truly hope this business succeeds, but we're probably not going to go back.

We spent a few hours riding and even stopped at a bar to watch a live band while sipping an overpriced margaritas. If you want to spend a few hours outdoors and not kill yourself pedaling uphill, go here. You are going to love the bikes!

Note that this is a foldable bike with stock original quick release front tire for transporting, no modifications. II said I don't understand, I'm in the Huntington Beach store where I purchased the Rad bike and you won't change the front tire with another Rad tire? ANSWER: No. you purchased the bike from "Rad Power Bikes Inc" which was sold to "Rad *+%#!£¥€! Corporation" and we no longer service those old bikes with the quick release axel on the front fork due to "Safety Reasons". Safety reasons? Whose safety? The service technician or the owner? If it's the owner was there a recall??! Sounded to me like another strong case of Corporate Winnie BS so I left with my bike and went to my local bike shop who was more than happy to change my tires. Bottom Line: Buyer beware. I purchased from this company when there was a lot of start up companies selling cheap Chinese crap for far less believing a large company would stand the test of time and stand by their product. I even recommended them to 4 friends who purchased their bikes from them. Now I get to call them and say hey I'm so sorry! If they won't even change their own stock tire imagine what they won't do with something more serious. I'd go down the street, there are plenty of other e-bike companies out there.

We continued to wait patiently and did not make an issue of it. Eventually, as an employee walked by, I politely asked a very simple question, whether the store offered delivery services. Rather than briefly answering or directing us to someone who could help, he responded, "I'm busy with another customer right now," without making eye contact. The interaction made us feel like an inconvenience The question would have helped us determine whether we were ready to move forward with purchasing. A little acknowledgment and basic customer service would have made a significant difference. Based on this experience, we will be taking our business elsewhere and would not return.

I visited this bicycle shop after calling ahead to confirm they could assist with cutting off a bike lock due to a lost key. Upon arrival, I was met with an unexpectedly rude and dismissive attitude from a man I believe to be the owner. Rather than a simple, polite request to wait, his tone was abrupt and unwelcoming, which left a very negative first impression. I understand businesses can be busy, but basic courtesy goes a long way. I found the muffins and donuts, but it took a little longer to find a great bike shop. I stopped by several of them in the Huntington Beach area and I found one that has a real passion for the customer, Huntington Beach Cycles on Atlanta. They recently had to make a tough decision. They got so backed up with service work they needed to lock the doors to focus on repairs which created no bike sales or parts sales for the few days they had to close. I know it's tough on some of us that had bikes in behind closed doors, but I respect a business owner to keep his commitment to service and repair the bikes that he had taken in and focus on his service. During the last several weeks they lost a technician and that put some extra workload on the rest of the staff. Mike did a great job servicing our bikes. I also noticed that the owner of the shop, Kevin, has an outstanding relationship with his team and they all share his passion for the customer. I remember going in our 1st time when it was first opened with different owners. They were fantastic & made me feel comfortable. They were not intimidating and the service went great. We took our bikes there a 2nd time, I don't know who the owner was at the time, and everything was fine. This is our 3rd time taking our bikes for service there. This time our experience was not the same under the current ownership. No shade to the owner. He was very nice & pleasant. I'm glad to see a lot of good reviews but that was not my experience. We dropped off our mountain non-e bikes for general service as they weren't running great at the end of the week. He mentioned that they'd be looked at the following Tuesday with an estimate (week 1). He mentioned that it'd be possible to adjust recommended repairs to suit our budget. Great! No problem. Very considerate suggestion. But we didn't hear from him on Tuesday or any day that 1st week. We tried calling a couple times that week but no answer. We tried stopping by at 11 (posted opening time was 10) and there was a note on the door they open at noon. We stopped by another day & it seems there was a family emergency so he'd get to us the 2nd week. We got busy and another week rolled around and a 2nd Tuesday with no news on the repair estimate. We called a couple times the 2nd week & there was no answer. We stopped by around 4:30 and it was closed (posted closing time was 6). We called again that weekend & he said his tech would come in the next Tuesday, the 3rd week, to look at the bikes. At this point, the bikes are sitting in the shop for 2 full weeks going on a 3rd before anyone even looks at them for an estimate. This does not inspire confidence that the bikes would even be done that 3rd week. While maybe they would have finally been repaired in the 3rd week, we decided cut our losses & take our bikes elsewhere. I truly hope this business succeeds, but we're probably not going to go back.

Not only did they have the same model I was looking for, the new model has a light aluminum frame. It is so much easier to put on the bike rack of my SUV vs the old, heavier steel frame model. Additionally, the frame is taller so I don't feel like I am riding a tricycle like my old bike. Lastly, the new bike was $50 off: Score! Mike (who I believe is the owner), is a super nice guy.
