My Porsche Boxster S broke down on my way to the hospital yesterday. I heard a chugging sound, smoke was coming out of the side vents, and then the power steering shut off. I was stuck, stranded at a dangerous intersection. If that wasn't worrisome enough, other drivers start yelling at you like it's your fault, or you blocked traffic on purpose. Others are distracted on their cell phones, nearly hit you, and then yell and scream at you. The irony did not escape me, "She died trying to get to the hospital." Fortunately, Ernesto was available and said, sure, have AAA tow the car here. Not only is he attentive, knowledgeable, personable, he is respectful and honest. He does not try to take advantage of how rattled you are by piling on or scaring you into unnecessary repairs. He also repaired my car in a day which is awesome. When I picked up the car the next morning, it was nicely detailed, clean. While he does repair other models, his specialty is Porsche. So happy to find Ernesto, and you'll be glad too. It has been a while since I last updated my review and I'm now driving a 997 turbo. I just took it in for a major service because the car was feeling a little sluggish. It not only turned out that my plugs needed replacing but also several of my ignition coils had cracks. I also had a boost leak that I did not know about. Ernesto showed me everything. This place is GEM! Had mostly bad experience with rusnak porsche since 2015 when we had our first porsche, the dealership is too small and too busy, and so they always run out of loaners and repair schedules were always delayed. Whenever we raised an issue their first response is always that the customers are paranoid and didnt know how porsches work..and cars always come back filthy and uncared for. Over the years we started adding boxster, 911s, gt3 etc. so we started to try a few indy shops around town. Places like House Automotive provided great service but the price is the same as the dealer, which is probably as high as you can get. Others are so busy everything's by appointment, no followups and they expect you to just drop off your car sitting in the sun and gathering dust (which i hate, being OCD). Often times you cant even reach the mechanic himself, but all conversations are handled by a receptionist who cant answer any questions. And I am sure we all ran into mechanics who dont really care about your business and they sound like you owe them money.... That led me to HD Motorwerks, saw them on yelp and called. Went over the issues I had on the phone and they had availability to look at it in the next 2 hours. They gave an initial estimate which was lower than others, and with the faster response, decided to give them a try. Arrived at the shop a few hours later. The shop was pretty clean which was a very nice sight. They had quite a number of cars blocking the bays, and yet they remember that I called earlier and without hesitation started moving cars out of the way and got my car on the lift to start the diagnosis. Long story short, we thought it's something simple but we spent about 3 hours diagnosing the issue together until closing time and eventually decided we had a faulty part and has to come back another day. What impressed me is Ernesto's attitude and positive energy, he's always smiley-faced and despite the difficulties we had in the diagnosis he kept trying different ways to approach the issue and giving off a very positive vibe. His assistant has an extremely nice personality as well, always offering water etc. and is very careful around the cars. I dont see that at all in other mechanics, at least they certainly dont spend 3 hours doing that with me right next to him. With half a dozen sports cars of all different brands, I have seen quite a spectrum of them. In the end, the diagnosis he charged me is more than fair and at least we got to the root of the problem. At that point I know I have found my porsche guy (for the 911s and GT cars), someone who's honest, trustworthy, knows what he's talking about and yet doesnt have an attitude about it like a Mr Know-it-all, is respectful, positive and pay attention to details. I returned a week later with a warranty and had him take care of all the other issues I had with the car. I told him about my OCD and what to look out for, he took notes and actually paid attention to my request. The repair took about 2 weeks, with the warranty inspection and waiting for parts etc.,all the meanwhile Ernesto kept me updated about the progress. Before I pick up my car, Ernesto offered to wash it, I asked if they do it in house and they said yes (many places send cars to other places for quick car wash and sometimes end up with scratches or blemishes that's hard to trace due to different locations and personnel handling the car, with inconsistent quality). I let them do it and when I picked up the car, it was spotless! the interior was clean and dust free and had no odor. No hand prints on the steering wheel or leathers. Dealerships and other mechanics have lots to learn from this place. I highly recommend HD motorwerks as my go-to porsche guy, and more importantly, I hope they keep this up. With their customer service and performance I am sure they will get way busy soon. read more

I'm from Iowa and bought a Porsche 911 turbo sight unseen. I had another dealer perform the PPI and was dismayed when they gave the report I paid for to the seller and proceeded to tell him they have several buyers for his car if my deal falls through. Talk about trying to take advantage of an out of state buyer. I won't say which service shop, but you can find my honest review of them from my profile. Ernesto dropped the engine and pinned the cooling lines per the sharkwerks method, which he was familiar with. He changed the hydraulic clutch, a window regulator, both intercooler radiators, and changed all the fluids... He sent me pictures of the work he did... Took great care of me and I never met him in person. I arranged for the trucking company to pickup the car from his shop and ship it to me in Iowa... He ensured that it was loaded properly and even sent me a couple of pictures... My car runs like a beast... The only thing I've had to do is change the coil packs and plugs...I would have saved some money if I had him do those when the engine was out of the car. We were initially referred to Ernesto through our last mechanic who moved their shop to the next county; he was great, and we trusted his referral and met Ernesto. I don't post too many reviews, but for those business that I have posted for it's because of the great experience or service that I have received. I recently purchased a 2005 911 and one of the first thing I did was research the various independent Porsche mechanics within Glendale, Burbank, and Pasadena. Porsche or any other high-end car represents a considerable investment, and you don't want to entrust its care to just anyone. That's why it's important to find the right mechanic for your vehicle service and repair needs. There were plenty to be found on Yelp and based on the useful input, I soon decided to take a visit to the ones I was interested in seeing and to talk to the shop owner or lead mechanic. As most of us know, going to see a mechanic draws many cautions and conclusions about whether the mechanic will be trustworthy, pricing the job fairly and most importantly is able to fix your car the first time. So I finally decided on Ernesto's shop at HD Motorwerks in Glendale, and on my first visit all I did was to have him do an oil change just to see how he operates. My first impression was very good as he did the job quickly and the price was right. Since it was my first time there, he looked the car over bumper-to-bumper and basically said that all was fine with the car and off I went. During the oil change process, I talked to him about the various types of work on the car (e.g. clutch, suspension, and radiator/cooling system) and he seems to know quite a bit about them. To sum this up, Ernesto's shop has all the tools/diagnosis equipment required to properly repair and maintain your Porsche or other foreign car. He won't BS you and tell you your car needs work on something unless it really needs it, and he will check over the car for you to make sure everything is to his standards before you leave his shop.
