We visited Hemade which recently opened. They offer traditional Chinese dessert such as milk pudding , Shaved ice, drinks and sweet soup dessert. What we tried: Golden Cassava Deluxe - Handmade Taro and sweet potato Mochi balls, Golden Cassava, Peach Gum, Lotus seeds, Red bean with coconuts soup base Peach gum wrinkled skin milk pudding. Golden Cassava Deluxe's portion was very large. There were so many ingredients in this dessert dish. I really enjoyed each ingredients. Great presentation. Peach gum wrinkled skin milk pudding presentation was also good. Pudding texture was very smooth. However, both dessert's flavor was very weak. They need a little bit more sweetness. I understood some of Asian dessert are meant to be lightly sweetened and I usually love the style. However, A little bit more sweetnedd would help the ingredients to bring out each flavors. Pork floss cake was just ok. Next time, I would lilke to try their egg tart, unfortunally they were sold out.

We paid a visit to this Chinese dessert Cafe based on a review by another diner of this cafe's in house made Portuguese egg tarts. I 've always adored the traditional Cantonese egg tarts of my youth so I wanted to compare my experiences with this version. I was blown away! Their egg tarts exceeded my expectations. The crust was beautifully laminated and provided layers that shattered in your mouth with each bite. The egg custard was creamy with a rich texture and flavour. The golden brown top layer was slightly craggy and not burnt like the ones I've seen and tasted by other bakeries. Price wise at $3.50 each its a bit more than other bakeries charge but what you'll get is the queen of Portuguese egg tarts. The other Chinese bakeries have nothing over this version made by He Made cafe! The service was courteous and efficient. The interior of the cafe was wonderfully air conditioned that it invites a longer visit. Tables and counter seating. Their menu of tong su bowls was diverse as was their assorted cool drinks. Cash and cards accepted. This cafe doesn't open until 3 or 4 pm, its a great place to come for a Chinese dessert experience. Get your egg tarts early as they sell out.

Sorry, I don't understand the hype. We saw the huge line when driving around Richmond and decided to stop in. It was so crowded and seemed like all the tables were occupied with people just chatting or waiting around, so we got in line to order. This place is also debit or cash only, as with most places in Richmond. The aesthetic design of the place is nice but it was unclear if we could dine in. I don't understand why they don't have people order at the front and then pick up the food to get a table. It seemed a lot of people were just waiting around to order and pay their bill at the tables, despite the incredibly long wait and amount of people waiting for a table. They didn't seem short-staffed either as there was a lot of staff making food but very few staff turning tables. We did take out because dining in looked impossible. The mango pudding we had was okay. It tasted like they used real mangoes and the texture was smooth. However, it also felt a little soulless and more viscous than I would've liked. Very mediocre place considering how crowded it is.

cute story behind ba ba tang. apparently the whole concept was inspired by a father's love for his…read moredaughter and his desire to create the coconut desserts she grew up wishing she had. somehow, knowing that makes the place feel even warmer and more genuine. we dropped in a little after 8:30 on a tuesday after googling "desserts near me," and i'm glad we did. tucked away in the strip mall behind costco in richmond, it's one of those places you could easily miss if you weren't looking for it. the name and logo felt strangely familiar, so i asked if they used to be on denman. they laughed and told me they were on robson instead, and suddenly it all made sense. the interior is surprisingly spacious, with lots of room to sit and relax. what really caught my eye was the large mural inspired by monet's water lilies. it gives the whole space a calm, dreamy atmosphere that matches the refreshing drinks and coconut theme perfectly. their menu goes way beyond desserts. there are cakes, packaged ramen, honey castella, canned drinks, takoyaki, fresh coconut meat chicken soup, chaga mushroom products, and an entire lineup of signature coconut and yogurt drinks. it feels part café, part dessert house, and part specialty market. we ordered the mad mango and daddy's pink drink. the mad mango tasted like actual fruit instead of syrup. bright, juicy, naturally sweet, and incredibly refreshing. every sip had that fresh tropical flavour that makes you feel like summer arrived early. daddy's pink drink was equally memorable. smooth, fruity, and perfectly balanced without being overly sweet. the name makes even more sense once you learn the story behind the brand, it feels like a small tribute to the idea that food and drinks made with care can carry a lot of love. definitely a place i'll return to, not just for the drinks, but for the atmosphere and the story behind it all.
