I booked the 90-minute Himalayan Salt Stone Ritual and many basic spa expectations were not met: body parts were not always re-draped after being massaged, techniques used on one side were not repeated on the other, and much of the treatment felt like quick rubbing/grabbing rather than intentional massage strokes. The room was also a bit uncomfortable. Temperature-wise it was pretty warm, and the face cradle was really small, so there were times where I felt hot and claustrophobic. The music also stopped about halfway through the massage, and I could hear muffled subway rumbling intermittently since we were underground. Now, for probably the worst part of this experience. My therapist didn't speak English, which is completely fine, but the spa had no effective way for me to communicate basic and expected requests at a spa like adjusting pressure. The receptionist had to come in and translate, but remained in the room for a while in case more translation was needed (it wasn't lol). This made it difficult to relax because she was just watching the massage, chatting with the therapist, and asking me questions about my life. She also suddenly pulled my underwear down to expose my WHOLE BUTT while the therapist massaged my back?? Usually, underwear is lowered only slightly during a massage -- but regardless, why is the receptionist touching me at all??? She also commented on my figure unnecessarily which was super unprofessional. And even after all that, the pressure briefly became too hard before returning to far too light for the rest of the massage. At checkout, no one asked for feedback. Instead, I was told (unprompted) that because I selected "medium pressure" on my intake form, they assumed I was inexperienced with massages and thus intentionally gave me a gentler treatment. They essentially blamed ME for the pressure being too light...? I was then recommended a different therapist for next time, and insinuated she was more experienced. I found this excuse confusing and problematic: how does preferring medium pressure suggest that I don't get massages often, and why would that mean I should receive light pressure or a less experienced therapist instead? I've had many massages across NYC at all price points, and this is the only place where requesting more/less pressure one time became such a strange ordeal. Given the luxury price tag, I expected a near perfect experience. Unfortunately, it didn't even meet the standards of an average massage, and more importantly, fell short of basic standards of comfort and professionalism.

The facility is clean and welcoming. I opted to do their 3 hour package, which includes 60 min head spa, 60 min body massage, and 60 min deep facial for $238. You can't beat the price! The massage was great, she really went after my trouble areas and integrated a hot pillow and hot stones into the massage. She checked in with me whenever she felt me tense up to see if the pressure was ok. I felt so much better after the massage. The facial surpassed my expectations, it was multiple steps and included a very thorough extractions process that included both manual and vacuum suctioning device, ending with a hydrating calming mask. I did have some redness from some of the extraction points but that's to be expected and most of the redness vanished by the next morning. The head spa was also very thorough with massaging my scalp, neck, and shoulders. She had already figured out from the massage portion that this was a trouble area for me so I appreciate that she continued working on it, it felt like she was in no hurry and her prime concern was for me to leave feeling completely refreshed. I have porous curly hair, which creates a challenge for these types of experiences. Most head spas don't know what to do with hair that's not straight or wavy, spending the brunt of the time frustrated with the detangling process. I've been to head spas in flushing, Greenpoint, and Astoria, and this was by far the best handling I've encountered. Even though it took some time to detangle, she never voiced frustration over the challenge, and intrinsically knew not to attempt touching mid shaft to ends until they were wet and covered in product. It was very relaxing and wasn't a painful process (again, usually it's very painful because they rarely know how to detangle curls). It was a multi step process with thorough scalp attention. When it was time to dry my hair, I wasn't expecting anything other than a blow dryer, as most of these places just get your hair dry without any products or styling. I was pleasantly surprised to see some hair products, including some specifically for curly hair. It wasn't a proper blowout (which usually unless you're paying $200+ just for the the head spa these places don't give a blowout anyways), but she ensures that I walked out looking presentable by layering some product and doing some light scrunching. This level of care for someone with mixed textured curly hair speaks volumes as to the quality of service that is being offered. I will definitely be back. The value is phenomenal and an inclusive approach to their care has made me a loyal customer.

Booked two 45-min scalp massages together for me and my daughter, our room was divided by curtains from the other massage beds, so that our space was together. Pretty neat set up to have all the beds set up that way so they can accommodate groups of different sizes, divided by privacy curtains. The scalp massage was great and both our masseuse were excellent, professional and had good communication to determine comfort and pressure levels, etc. During the massage itself, it's mostly focused on the head, but there is some brief work on the neck and shoulders. As you enter the room, you're asked to remove your top and cover with the provided towel body wrap. The upper body gets wet during the water head massage, so this wrap is a helpful alternative. All other clothes stay on. Following the massage portion, you're guided to a hair station where they blow dry your hair and get you sorted so you're not heading outside with wet hair. Simple but effective setup. Overall a really great self-care treat by a group of professionals who take pride in their work and send you out into the world feeling better than when you entered their space.

I thought I had been taken in by bots on the internet claiming the place was great. I emailed. I texted. Apparently there is a floor "12A," the button for which I could not see in the crowded elevator. (This is probably a very old NYC building, where sometimes the 13th floor was not labeled as such because of the superstition behind #13 being unlucky.) (12A wasn'tg any luckier for me, sorry to say.) Finally found it, and another customer came right behind me. Receptionist was on the phone. No one to greet you otherwise. Customer behind me tried to push in ahead of me, but I stood my ground and waited for the receptionist to get off of the phone. We were now 7 minutes into my appointment, and I was miffed that there was no one else to take care of you. The pictures on the internet are very misleading. The space is TINY. Receptionist looks towards a clinician blowing dry someone's hair, when I indicate the Skinceuticals facial I had booked. Oh no. She's not done. In a very disorganized fashion, after I had specifically requested someone very gentle for my facial, a random clinician was recruited to do my treatment. She opened the door, and the room had another client in it, on another bed, with a barely a 1.5 feet in between the two beds, a curtain strung between. You have to be kidding me. You want me to pay (with tip) $200+ for a facial and you can't give me a private room? This was infuriating. By the way, the customer who had flown in behind me was taken first and given the private room. For what service, I don't know, but I was first. It was too much. Now we're 16 minutes into my appointment time. When I complained that (1) the person behind me was taken first ("Oh, your appointments were at the same time" -- I shot back "I don't care about that. I was here first.") and (2) she was given a private room, the receptionist said she would ask the clinician in the private room to switch. Fuhgeddaboutit. I asked for a refund. To her credit, the receptionist didn't argue. She refunded my $50 deposit and I left. This is what happens when people who claim to be professionals let their appointments run late, and don't apologize. And when customer expectations for a $200 service are dashed completely by being offered to SHARE a room for an expensive treatment, when you want to talk about difficulties you have with your skin, problem areas, PRIVATELY -- not so that the client and practioner next to you can hear what you're saying. If you don't care about privacy, lateness, lack of professional courtesy, chaos because no manager is on site, I invite you to try this place. I was disgusted and had traveled over an hour to get there. NOT WORTH IT.
