Had a great massage with Steve. Listened to what I have wrong and definitely addressed them Is it like a spa at a hotel no. But like some of the reviews I just read. Didn't find it scary at all. And the elevator was working but choose to take the stairs seems like the thing to do since its only 4 flights. To each their own. The massage itself was fabulous which what I am paying for. Note: These comments are based on visits from last year. I've been to the locations on the south side as well as the first River North location (on N Orleans). The providers have the potential for 5 stars if they can iron out consistency in their offering. The first time I visited Healing Hands, I received a back and neck massage (Laura) that was in the top few massages I had ever received. Then, as a bonus, the chiropractor came in and provided an adjustment and put me on a machine to stretch out my spine (similar to a massage table with a soft center that has a moving roller built in. Sorry I forget the name of the machine). This first visit was with a Groupon, so the price was a hard to beat $35. The next few times I went back, the service varied. I was never quite sure what would happen next, who would provide the service, or how much it would cost. Each visit I found myself hoping the experience would be similar to the first visit, but it didn't happen. I also received a few massages from a fairly new massage therapist. She provided a pretty good swedish style massage, but I don't think she offered a deep tissue which is what I prefer. She's great if you are wound up and want to relax. If you have some knots you need worked out though, she wouldn't be my first choice. To be fair, it has been awhile. I do hope they have developed consistency in their service by now. read more

If this review was for the massage therapist only, it would be a 5 for sure. Flor is without doubt the best therapist I've ever seen - she is really invested in providing ongoing help for your issue, rather than simply taking each session as a one-off. She also provides really sound advice for ways in which you can help yourself alleviate your problem at home. On top of all this, her actual massage technique is excellent. I could not recommend her more. Where Healing Hands has lost a star for me is down to a couple of things: 1 - They are often running late, which although not a huge deal can be slightly frustrating 2 - Their waiting area, bearing in mind my previous point, isn't particularly great - apart from the Bible (!) there isn't any reading material and often there are members of staff sat there on their laptop All in all, though, Healing Hands is great. All of the staff are really friendly and if you don't mind a slightly quirky waiting room experience then this could be for you. read more

I received a groupon for my bday for this place and stopped by yesterday. My experience was awesome. Laura was perfect and knew where my problem areas were without me telling her. As soon as I left the place I was already referring people to come see her. I would definitely return even if I had to pay for it myself. They do have specials going on if interested but I think the groupon is cheaper by 10 bucks. read more

I did not get my massage because the lady who supposed to give me a massage was very rude to me and unprofessional. Such people should never be allowed to work with other people. Modest facility but comfortable, clean and great massage. My therapist (Flor) was knowledgeable, skillful, and had a great relaxing manner; she spent time and effort to relieve the giant knot that lives in my right shoulder (the primary reason I went in). Additionally, she gave me practical advice for taking better care of it myself at home, something no other therapist has ever done. I have had quite a few reflexology massages and this was OK. First they state like the other places "Each 60-minute foot-reflexology treatment includes a soothing foot bath and massage for the neck, shoulders, and back' - however, there is no soothing foot bath. You put on a gown and lay face down on a table the entire time. The therarpist asked if the pressure was OK and I said yes but moe.r pressure would be better. She never made the adjustment. Bought a groupon for a 60 min reflexology and upper body massage. She was about 15 mins short of an hour which was irritating. The pressure was also very light, which I could have spoken up about. It was mediocre, I definitely wouldn't pay full price for this place read more

I bought a Groupon deal so I had no idea what to expect. I decided I wanted an hour massage as opposed to the 30 minute that I bought and they gladly accepted that upgrade. The place is in an office type building but it seemed just fine to me. Their office is clean and relaxing and welcoming. Holli did my massage and she was great to communicate with me to find out what I was looking for and throughout she checked on pressure etc. She even managed to get all of my nasty knots out! I found Healing Hands very professional and I would certainly come back. The only problem I had was there was all of these signs and notes around about tipping and gratuity and how much to tip. I see tipping as an "extra" that is not required (although in today's day in age it is 99% always given regardless) but I thought pointing out gratuity like they did was a turn off for a client. The place was a bit small, but overall I had an amazing experience, and helped me relax so much. While the facilities may not be upscale spa-like, the services are very good. Have been having acupuncture and massage and I come out feeling great. I'd rather have good services in a basic spot then go some foo-foo place and pay for the looks and find the services are mediocre. I had a great experience. The therapist who helped me was very good--asked questions, provided a soothing but therapeutic massage and then gave me some stretching exercises to do while at my desk. He made me feel comfortable, relaxed and revived--exactly why I purchased the massage. Received a stellar massage from Flor recently. This was my first time at the spa, and I was greeted intially, had a little paperwork to complete and the massage was started shortly thereafter. The therapist was very communicative throughout the massage with suggestions and making me aware of stretches she was going to try. Communications were only when needed, and I was still able to relax throughout. The temperature in the room stayed comfortable and draping was done well. The spa itself isn't glorious and the rooms did let in quite a bit of outside noise, but the massage was one of the better massages I have received. Ugh, probably one of the most disappointing experiences. I bought a Groupon Now last minute for a 15 min massage because I had been having neck and shoulder issues which were causing headaches. I think the Masseuse talked more during my session than actually helped the problem. I left there more sore than I came in due to when she was working, she was applying crazy pressure on my neck, after I told her I was in pain. The only plus side was the Chiropractor came in and provided some insight on how to prevent muscle stiffness from occurring. Okay this is the most unprofessional place I have ever been to in my LIFE. I had bought a groupon deal for a 60 minute therapeutic massage. I made the appointment almost a week in advance with three other friends of mine for today. I signed up for all of us, and put all of our numbers down. I live in a suburb of Chicago, about 45 minutes out of the city. The first two appointments were scheduled around 12:00, and the next two a little after 1:00. 30 minutes before the first two massages, my friend gets a call from a one of the ladies that was scheduled to massage her that day telling her that she will need to cancel because she won't make it on time, she said emergencies happen, and yes I completely agree. So the other appointment was with a different lady, so we all decided to just go ahead and get our massages done with, and maybe reschedule hers. We get there around 12:25, we were a little delayed due to traffic. We met a woman who claimed to be one of the ladies working that day. A friend of mine asked why it wasn't open if our appointment was at 12:00. They said something happened, and another thing was she also couldn't open the door with her own key for some weird reason. Another thing that was so unprofessional was that we didn't all get the call for cancelation, only one of us did. So we went there anyway, and the lady at the door told us we shouldn't wait, and that we should just go home and reschedule. Later on we call the lady that dialed my friends number, and she said that she was there at 12:30 which I don't believe for a second, because one of the ladies said that we should just go home because the massages were being canceled. I have never been so pissed. The clinic wasn't even picking up the phone, it was just going straight to Melvin's voicemail. All I have to say is, I better get a full refund back. I hate how you have to rate at least one star, it doesn't deserve any. So unprofessional. read more
