Found this great massage place for a good price in Castro Valley. The places I look for don't have to be fancy but also it's not in a scary location. I can't afford a one hour $300 massage who gives you other perks like tea and ambiance. It doesn't have to be at a modern place. I just need a good kind of massage to get the knots out!! In and out service! I was in need of a good two hour massage and every time I called here even last minute, I was able to get the time I needed. Great friendly customer service! Easy to find. They have their own parking. They are on the corner by the teaching massage place. I think they own this place too. They open till late everyday which is what I look for, too. These small little ladies take the kinks out of my sore muscles. They alway can feel where the knots of the most painful spots are and some where I didn't know it was painful at! Felt so good after it. I only get the Swedish massage as I have a sensitive body. They always ask how strong the massage I want. As long as you tell them how you want it, they do it really good to take the knots out! Don't be afraid to tell them if it hurts. I don't know why people are afraid to tell them? It's funny how people get offended by the staff personality or they ask for tip. How are you tipping them? It should be the same as a restaurant, right? You're getting serviced. What's $20 tip for two hours? These ladies are all business, some are friendly. Don't get me wrong but to get as many people their service and to the next all day?! They need to make money right? I needed a last minute massage since my back and neck were killing me the past few days. I was able to call and ask if they can take walk-ins and I came within 20 minutes. At this establishment you have to pay before your service instead of after, and you tip after when you're done. There is a $5 discount if you pay in cash, I paid $110 before tips. I opted for the 90 minute massage with medium pressure. The medium pressure was harder than I'm used to, but I really needed it. I was a bit skeptical because my masseuse was doing a rough rub down with the sheets on in the beginning, but she was able to work out my knots once she started doing more detailed work. I felt a bit more exposed than what I'm normally comfortable with, and I probably should have said something. She did check with me periodically to see if the pressure was okay. There is a parking lot with sufficient spaces, however it is near a busy street so expect to hear cars and traffic noises during your massage. First, I called to make sure they took a walk-in, YES they do - so I arrived within 30 min later, and was greeted with a friendly hello. Choose your massage time and let your masseuse will ask where you need the most attention. I selected a 90-minute massage and we headed to Room #2 with calm music playing, and Lily came to give me a fantastic deep tissue massage! Honestly, I could do this all day! At one point, she used hot stones (my first time), and it was SO soothing! I had a rough week working at a desk hunched over a computer and she did a miracle of hard muscle massaging my neck, shoulders and back and hitting all the points and loosening me up...it worked. WOW, she really had powerful strength and pain point knowledge/skill. Rare but it makes a difference. I walked in aching, and walked out feeling much more relaxed! It seems all the massage therapists are licensed here and their prices are pretty reasonable. They seem to have a shorter menu now, but I checked Yelp prior and asked about one of their prior offerings, the body scrub. It was a 10-15 minute add-on ($30) to my 1 hour ($75) full body massage. You can have the scrub before or after the massage. I opted for before and it was in a private bathroom on a padded massage table tub/platform. Scrub was more like a body wash using soap and washcloth, there's no loofah or use of salts to exfoliate your skin. I guess the "scrub" is considered more of a body rinse/wash. It was nice but probably not something I would opt for again. My massage though, was nicely done and conducted in a private room. The massage table was heated, which was a nice touch. The masseuse, Susan, checked in with me on pressure and areas I wanted to focus on at the beginning and during. She really worked out the knots and kinks/pain I was feeling in my neck, shoulders and upper back and knows the accupressure points. She had good technique too. Unexpectedly during the massage, I even felt my sinuses clear up. They use massage oil to help aid the massage and soften your skin. Hot stone massage is also included towards the end of the massage for about 10 minutes and Susan really knew how to utilize and maneuver the stones to help my meck/shoulder/back muscles further relax. Stones weren't too hot either (which can be the case at some other places). At the end they use warm towels to wipe off the massage oils from your body. Massages are done in private rooms and it looks like they have a handful available for appointments. I called and was able to get same day appointment but they seem to be busy and fill up fast. I asked if I could be moved to an earlier spot and one of the owners said she'd contact me in event of cancelation but didn't think so because all the people ahead of my appointment were regulars - which is a good sign. Susan and Summer both worked hard to take out many knots I had as I was dealing with a pinched nerve from neck down to shoulder blades and back through my arm. I was in pain for weeks and came a couple of times to help take down the knots which were unrelenting and pretty painful given that I always request a male or someone strong enough to drop elbows. They did that most of the massage and knew what they were doing. Asking a lot and they try their best to help. Will recommend them to family and friends in future. read more

This place is just OK. I hate to say that out loud, but a just OK massage is not a good way to treat myself to wellness. The massage therapist never asked me if I was there for specific body work. I had to insert my wishes and she did 1of 2 requests during my 90 minute session. My gut says the therapist has been taught one massage type and she may not have had the training to shift. Pretty decent place near home for me. I've visited twice now, the first time for 90 minutes and the second time for an hour. I suggest that you bring cash because you get a discount but also keep in mind that the tip is pretty much expected so I just add that to the total price. Overall, I'd say it's worth it with tip included. The first visit I think was around $145 total for 90 minutes and today was $95 for an hour. The vibe isn't too fancy, but who cares, your eyes are closed for almost the whole time. The massages were good and I love that they use hot stones. I'll definitely be back. I was excited about having a massage for such a great price however I wasn't thrilled with my experience. The table was cold and I was covered by a light sheet so my whole massage I was cold. The lady who did my massage was sweet, however I asked her multiple times do go softer and it didn't really change. I was sore going into the massage and I left in more pain. She pushed my ankles I guess to stretch them and one of my ankles popped not in a good way. My back ribs hurt now as well as my ankle. They had a quick response time when I messaged them for an appointment and had same day availability. But when I got there I was taken down stairs to the storage closet, literally had "for storage only" on the door, which creeped me out a little bit. If the rooms upstairs were full I would have waited for one. There are no foot reflexology or combination options... just their specific method of a Full Body massage in 60, 90, or 120 minute sessions. I get 90 minute sessions every time. It is true they will prefer/request a larger tip and it is not understood why they don't simply raise their rates, but I am here to get a quality massage and they provide them here... I'm not here to argue their business practices. They got me in right when I called. I always had back issues and went in because I work 24/7 it was taking a toll on my body. Once I got in I was escorted to a room where I changed and laid down. My masseuse asked if I wanted it hard or soft and where my problem areas were. As we all know some people like hard massages (including myself) and some don't so this was a great sign for me. As we were going I was tending up a lot bc my body was tight and needed the work. My masseuse kept asking if it was too hard to check and see if i was comfortable and I said no. I guiltily am writing this review having frequented Healing Massage for the past four years. I only now feel compelled to write this review as I'm moving out of the area and I wanted to keep it a secret. Tucked away in a nondescript plaza in Castro Valley, Healing Massage is a hidden gem, and Ling is the crown jewel. Don't let her small stature fool you. Her elbows, knuckles, and bottom of her palms and wrists should all be registered as deadly weapons. If you have knots, consider Ling Liam Neeson; she will find them and rid you of them all. I've left numerous times feeling like I've just partaken in a bar fight, lost, yet seemingly left happy. I'm a glutton for the punishing deep tissue massages, my wife, not so much, yet Ling takes care of her just the same. The East Bay is littered with a bunch of Asian massage parlors, many of them with the same usual routine, ending with an "All Done", a statement rooted in a question because I typically haven't been fulfilled by the subpar massage. Healing Massage is a cut above the rest. I've had my fair share of massages from Burke Williams to Massage Envy to your local Mom & Pop Groupon, you get tremendous value here as these masseuses hold their own. Lower back tightness, ailing hamstrings, wound up calves, sore shoulders, stiff necks- I've had them all addressed here. I suffered a full Achilles tear playing basketball in 2018 and my body has never quite felt the same. I've cycled through several physical therapists, tried countless sessions of Chiropractic care, but I've never felt that zen-like moment leaving a session like I do at HM.
