After explaining my issue she said well I'm not sure what procedure you are explaining but does your in order to move forward I need to see if your insurance covers you. 1. I already explained I went through my insurance site and found this location (active listening is not her forte- she should've asked me about the member number) 2. I needed a same day appointment because of the pain associated with my issue. (After all that she FINALLY said we can't do a same day "you can go to urgent care") I said thank you and hung up-She clearly cannot represent the brand... NOW AS FAR AS THE TOP TIER SERVICE AT PEARL DENTISTRY... CHEF'S KISS! I called in and was greeted with the most welcoming and empathetic voice and professionalism from the front desk staff (I could almost kick myself for letting my pain make me drop the ball and forgot to get her name- she needs a shout out) She asked me how quickly can you get here? Do you think you can get here within 30 minutes? I was floored! Yessss I can! At that point she asked "so how did you find us?" - not will you be covered by your insurance. I told her my insurance and she said great! I can look you up to help you get in quicker and get taken care of! I was ill prepared but she took other means to find me and followed up with a 2nd phone call before arriving. The way she carried herself it was like I was the only patient they had and I was Queen Charlotte herself - just VIP Service and care, tailored to me, and about me. Good energy from the jump start! When I arrived... I was literally at the corner and she was looking out the window at a lost lady with 2 toddlers in a stroller and she waved me down like she knew me-Thank God because I was already hot and in pain but her infectious smile from probably 400+ft away made me feel like I was seeing a long time friend and I waved and painfully smiled bigger than I should have! she opened the door for me and said hey there welcome to Pearl Dentistry! I said did I look that lost? And we laughed and she said it's ok I'm just glad you made it! The other staff members were smiling and greeting me too (like we met before as well) 1. Technology and Intake- sent me a message for check in to my phone, easy and effortlessly created without feeling like I'm putting everything and my blood type on there (I've had some forms I wanted to just exit and this was very direct, straight to the point and not a dragged out process.) 3. Wait time- by the time I blinked they were calling me to the back and that was perfect because with the toddlers they can get a little too busy us moving to the back as quick as we did helped a lot. (Not to mention they had snacks for them and YouTube that kept them cool, calm and collected during my visit) 4. My Tooth Fairy Dr. Amanda Curtlin, DDS What a refreshing experience to know that the standard of service does not stop at the Front staff but in the individual rooms with back staff (Dental assistant/X-ray tech/ pre-op- very personable young lady!) Dr Curtlin made my nerve wrecking experience easy and effortlessly created a great environment for me to relax and provided a clear understanding of what was happening, why it was happening, and what we need to do to stay safe during & after care. Never in my life has a dentist made me feel comfortable enough to hum through a tooth extraction. I mean she carried the tunes with me, checked in on me after every line of the song, and still carried out a full tooth extraction without missing a beat! I think I even heard her sing to the dental assistant to drain the site AND I LOVED IT! She communicated with me the entire time, telling me to make sure I tell her if I feel any pain vs pressure, paused if she didn't understand what I was saying even if it was something as simple as you both are doing great because at that point they weren't just my cheer squad, I was theirs! I am an unofficial Pearl Dentistry ambassador little does she know and that is because of Dr. Curtlin and the entire staff! As I don't currently have outside dental insurance, I signed up for their monthly in-house plan to cover my twice annual cleanings. I made sure to ask when I signed up if there was any long-term commitment, and they assured me that there wasn't and I would be able to cancel at any time without penalty. When the monthly price of the plan increased (I also moved away from Uptown-so the location was no longer convenient), I asked to cancel my plan, and was told that I owe $400 for my last basic cleaning, an amount that I never in a million years would have agreed to. They are essentially charging me an outrageous penalty to cancel my monthly plan. Communication and transparency are vital at any dentist, so I'd go elsewhere.

People who see me and know me comment on my smile all the time. They are some of the most caring and understanding people in the business. During the conversation, I mentioned a concern regarding the practice's response to a one-star review I had seen online. I found the response from the provider unprofessional, as it seemed to attack the patient rather than address the issue constructively. I offered a suggestion, stating that it would be more appropriate for them to edit the response to reflect professionalism, as this would deter fewer potential patients. Instead of appreciating the feedback, the front desk receptionist immediately suggested that I cancel my appointment if I didn't agree with their approach. I was taken aback by such a dismissive and unprofessional reaction. Needless to say, I canceled my appointment. A business unwilling to accept constructive criticism--especially from one provider to another--says a lot about their overall approach to patient care. The ability to grow and improve comes from learning to receive and apply feedback, something this practice clearly lacks. Given this experience and the number of negative reviews, I cannot recommend this dental office. I highly suggest reading *The New Gold Standard* by Joseph Michelli to better understand and implement customer service principles, which could benefit the team immensely. Before my first appointment, I had to reach out to them a minimum of 5 times to change my name on the forms because it was incorrect. Then, at my initial appointment, despite another dentist saying I had 4 minor cavities and almost no plaque, SouthEnd claimed I had 10. They made 4 of them priority 2 cavities but said they were "preventative" and it was only a matter of time (for what?) and my insurance would cover it. My insurance did not. I told them to just do priority one for the next visit and when my insurance resets for the year I'll look at the "preventative" ones. They called me the day before the appointment to try to persuade me to do the other priority 2 preventative cavities. I needed a driver due to needing Valium because of needle phobia, which I appreciated the rx. I was told I needed a driver but was not told the driver had to stay the whole time? Annoying miscommunication but whatever. They said they needed my driver there in case something happened to me and because I was too intoxicated. However, after my procedure I was brought to the front desk. I could barely speak due to my mouth being numb and they then told me I needed a crown for one of my teeth, that I had to schedule the priority 2 cavities at that time, and that I needed to schedule a cleaning. I told them I just got a cleaning in January from a different office and they tried to tell me I had to schedule another one - the cleanings would have been less than 3 months apart and on the billing paperwork they showed me, it even said from my insurance company it wouldn't be covered because it was too close to a different cleaning. As she was talking to me, she told me I had money left on my insurance and that it would be covered, when again, on the paperwork, it clearly said maximum limit reached and that insurance would pay 0. I'm trying to explain this to them meanwhile I'm literally biting my tongue and can't talk because of the numbing - which is fine, but now is not the time to discuss this!!! So - they required that a driver stay on the premises because I'm "too sedated," yet they want me to agree to thousands of dollars of extra treatment when I'm "too sedated" and also can barely speak? Heck no. Borderline predatory. When I said no to the extra procedures, the billing woman was absolutely NASTY - rolled her eyes and the whole bit. Of course she never introduced herself so I can't put her name on here. Stay away. I repeat!!!! Stay away!!!!!
